For 14 yo girls

Only them could tolerate those annoying characters.
All the interesting ones desappeared.
I really loved Genshiken, but this should not be seeing as a secuel, and genshiken is DEFINITELY NOT a precuel to this manga.
There are stupid and annoying characters like the US tourists, and yoshitake Rika.. manipulative and gossipy. The 3 are not profound. And if I have time, I would get to the others.
This manga is an excuse to talk about gender bender, BL, and what I hate most: harem, only for child men that fantasize about something that doesn't exist IRL.
It is, again, stupid, annoying, without meaning, and void.

Another sequel that failed

You see, I love the first season of Genshiken to death. I loved it so much that I don't want it to end. But the story moved realistically fast, and despite having a somewhat empty & unfinished ending, I still loved it.

So I was incredibly happy when the season 2 came out.
At first I was satisfied when Madarame's crush on Saki is resolved (chapter 80). However things started dragging on, and before I knew it, I was reading a harem love square drama. They tried to make it better it by throwing the word harem ironically, and desperately touching on a gender issue to make the series 2deep4u. But it's not fooling anyone.
I loved EVERY genshiken members by the end of season 1, yet after so many chapters I still don't like anyone in season 2 except Madarame. I could not relate or grow to like the characters, that's even weirder because I am a female and I read BL.

It was not enjoyable for me anymore, all I wanted was for the series to end quickly. And when I thought it finally ended realistically which would be:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Madarame not choosing anyone, finally "graduates" and tries to move on with his life
, the mangaka just forced an ending for the sake of not getting bashed by his readers.
Not only left disappointed, once again, I felt empty reading the ending. Kio is just... bad with ending scenes I guess.

Tl;dr: Don't read further than chapter 80 to save your time.
Just like the chapter title said: "That was a good final episode"

I'm not good at writing reviews, but in my opininon this is a very well done Slice of Life Manga. I enjoyed reading it, but then I had to see, that this wasn't being scanlated anymore. Why? This is great series people.
So does anyone know, how to get a scanlation group to pick this up? Would someone be willing to do this?

I enjoy this manga a LOT, coming here just so I can include it into my reading list coz it seem going into hiatus or maybe because this manga is monthly release?, anyway I hate that fact because I hate waiting, because every chapter leave you want more, although It seems my opinion is different than some people here is it because they afraid that liking this manga gonna make them question their heterosexuality?

Anyway if you're unlike them and love first genshiken then read it.

Awesome manga, funny, well drawn, with realistic characters... and otaku, otaku, otaku, yay! biggrin

I actually prefer the 2nd part (as they call it, I see the series as whole) because in the first part the only character I loved was Kousaka. Now there is Hato <3 Sue and Risa are hilarious, I love how Madarame character developed (like, he toned down a bit), and Kousaka still appears sometimes. I like Yoshiatake and Yajima a lot, more than I ever liked Saki, Ohno or Ogiue. So yeah, I am very happy with all the new characters and development. To each their own smile

after reading... well a reading marathon of all the chapters out so far (88)...
I can't understand people saying that the first part and the second part was different.
Let me get this clear, I am not a yaoi or BL fan, in fact, I steer clear of yaoi and BL although I read some genderbenders. The fact that made me read the second part of genshiken means that it doesn't made any difference at all. Fujoshi is just a part of a big entity called otaku, since the first part was about male otakus in general, the second focused on fujoshi?? I'd rather view it as genshiken without the nidaime part as a whole with the first. Btw... Sue is my favorite character... Kuchiki is a close second... heck.. I don't know but if Kuchiki graduates, there wont be any great boke here... Yoshitake couldnt get as crazy as Kuchiki. I'd say screw people who give this manga a low score because of gayporn, doujinshi is the same regardless of demographic... and genshiken is the same... regardless of being shodaime or nidaime.

Watanabe's harem

or was it Rararame? (just kidding)

It's like Genshiken, but with girls (fujoshi's) and more romance (but the good kind of romance).

I must say I wasn't pleased that there is a new series. Genshiken is one of my favorite mangas and it had a good ending too. I didn't want to start this series until it finished, but kind of came to it. The prospect of a almost female cast put me down at first (I'm a girl after all), but it surprised me how I like the new characters. I liked even Ogiue and Sue, which I disliked in the first series. Hato is interresting and the two other girls are nice too, I like more the fat one (don't know names).

What's great is that the old characters are playing a quite big roles in it. Especially Madarame. Genshiken 2 has much more romance than the first. I usually don't like romance in this kinds of manga, but it was nice. I think the manga is going to center even more on Madarame and his harem. I actually hope for that. There are still some very funny scenes, I almost died at the scene "so I'm uke". Some scenes were just too embarassing, but that won't kill me.

This is the reason I don't read ongoing series. I can't wait for another chapter now.

I have some expectations from this series, I hope Madarame will still have so much apperances, and that Saki and Madarame won't die out. I'm seriously shipping Hato and the fat new girl, so hope for them. although my yaoi hearth is for something more... yaoi. smile But I still don't want something like that to happen. Waaah, embarassing scenes, can't take them. I actually hope this one will be at least as long as the first series.

I'm not sure how should I rate this. The first was still better, but it actually deserve a 10 too, well at least 9,5. I think I'm going to wait for it to finish and rate it then. If my hopes come true, it will certainly be a 10.

A pointless sequel

The original ain´t perfect but tells a complete story with characters that made sense. This "sequel" has characters that make no sense whatsoever. They are simply weird and quirky to be just that. No one is believable, almost no story progression is had and I get the impression that the manga was commissioned to print money and get a new anime made due to the brand´s internationally successful in the past. I only see blind greed on Afternoons and the author's side and no intention to make a good manga.
I understand that writing is a way to make money in the end but the final product should actually be worthwhile in the end and not stand in the shadow of a prequel or even taint it. But hey at least the art is still good, for what that is worth. His Spotted Flower AU sequel starts out strong btw but falls apart HARD after about 3 volumes so the manga ended with Vol 9 for me.

I just doing marathoning all Genshiken manga, from season 1 & 2. And u know what, Genshiken 2 really touch my heart. Especially Madarame. I love how the writer made Madarame still fit in Genshiken 2, despite all new characters (ofc Ohno too). And believe me, it made my cry and sympathy with his love life. Especially ch 80. Great job! I hope that Shimoku will continue writing another amusing story with other characters! Even I'm very welcome if Madarame strikes again! biggrin

I think the 2nd Generation is giving its a good run. I'm not all for the BL (personal opinion), but I am -enjoying the storyline and interaction. Plus there original cast we love is still there. I don't see why there would be complaints about this? But I am waiting on Ch. 81 on pins and needles.
