People don't understand pathos apparently

It's a satirical comedy depicting the romance between tropey caricatures of shoujo protagonists. You're supposed to walk away thinking "what a bunch of pathetic idiots". I bet you guys watch The Office and think it's a drama.

I seriously can't contain my laughter at how far this manga went over your goddamn heads.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The guy made out with his ex when the female was in love with him. How fucking selfish of him to come back to mess with the girl when he seriously loved his ex. Not to mention, he knew what a naive fool she was and still he did it and had the balls to feel depressed to find her with some one else. So he crawls back to his ex who is a big pervert for having a relation ship with her 15 year old student. Ew.

This is the cheapest girl I've seen in a manga, in the end she is the one doing the chasing, got no pride, even after knowing the guy is having sex with another woman and cheated in fornt of her

No, it's bad

This manga tends to have very serious things going on, but somehow attempts to treat them like they're not by trying to make it funny. It does not work.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
In the first chapter, we meet the male protagonist. In the past, he's been a bully and cut the female protagonist's hair. They meet again, and guess what he does? He cuts her hair. Again. You could say it's just trying to be comedic, but the whole situation just screams insanity. He then pretty much forces her to be his girlfriend, and then forces her into a makeover. He is also incapable of being nice to her, and actually physically slaps her. Maybe it's the art or something, but every time it happens, I fail to see the humour in it. There are mangas where the the characters slap each other in jest, but it just doesn't work in this one.
A couple of chapters later, the guy forces the girl into the woods where they get lost, all because he thinks if he's on the brink of death he'll be able to confess to her. So, basically, he's trying to kill himself or put himself in a lot of danger. Which leads her into danger as well. What is wrong with this?

Oh, and did I mention he's always making her cry?

Skip by this one, even if you're a fan of the author's later works.

In life there are up and DOWN

And I just have to face it after forcing myself reading this twice: It's just bad.

I don't like the aggressive bullying and aggressive stupidity in this manga. How George Asakura came up with it, I have no idea but to dismiss that maybe she could not explain her ideas fully towards the readers here (which is utterly unlike her style and genius).

But, oh well.

Horrible

This manga was ridiculously bad from the very beginning. I don't understand how people can say that it's a shoujo, therefore this sort of story is acceptable because it's not meant to be realistic. (Being considered a shoujo is not an excuse for a bad story and terrible characters.) I see nothing appealing about a story where the main characters are abusive idiots that fawn all over each other one second, only to fawn all over another person the next second.

Initially I was only upset with Ukyo's character. Being abusive and rude as a child is one thing, but continuing this behavior as a high school student is unacceptable. I can understand being shy when up close with the person that you like, but that is no reason to cut her hair and publicly insult her. I was a bit more forgiving of Ran at first because I believed that she was merely a naive girl, but my forgiveness faded after two chapters when I realized that she wasn't naive; she was a complete dolt.

There were two reasons why I gave this series as high a rating as I did:
1. I thoroughly enjoy this particular mangaka's art style.
2. The two additional chapters were quite good.

Abusive guy and idiot girl

I can read mangas where the story is light hearted with characters like these, except I couldn't stand this one. Why? Because it tries hard to come off as light hearted (crazy idiot personalities), except it sprinkles it with real drama on top of it.

We've got a guy who abuses the main girl, who's frankly an idiot, and he's constantly stepping on her, telling insults, doing all sorts of horrible things, despite the fact that he actually kind of likes her. The idiot girl takes all the abuse, because she's an idiot of course, and a loyal puppy.

Well, scratch that loyal puppy part because neither of them are. They're idiots. I couldn't stand them.

Oh and a warning:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
They cheat, both of them. I'm telling this because I absolutely hate mangas in which the characters cheat on each other. Again, this is not the kind of stuff they should have in a manga that was supposed to be light hearted and crazy fun, because the mangaka dragged the manga down with these realistic elements. It doesn't match at all.

However, I do recommend the two extra chapters at the end, because it's about the main character's cousin, who was in love with her all this time. It's a story about how he finally gives up on her and finds new love. Now that's the kind of story that fits the mood and art. Not the main one which is crazy bad.

So read the two extra chapters at the end, then move on.

It was funny. I enjoyed the first volume and was ripping my hair out later. I think that it could possibly have ended after the first volume and I would've been fine. It just got to irritating later. Ukyo really ticked me off after a while and as much as I liked Ran, I really wished that she would just stop chasing after him. I know that love isn't supposed to be easy and it's not always sweet, but I don't think it's supposed to be an emotional train wreck either.

The characters were a little extreme, but the manga itself was hilarious, and i enjoyed this manga ALOT!
People are forgetting that this is manga, and shoujo manga at that, (not reality)
characters and situations are exaggerated.

this is one headache giving manga i hate these kind of stories where there's more hurting then love!
definitely dont like stories that got this annoying girl who will not give up she's just a loser kind and the guy he should know better then think that she let him go, what does he aspect from her if she sees him kissing another girl! it hurts to much plus knowing that he still likes that ex- of his all she can do is give up rather then keep hurting.
