This manga was amazing...if it wasn't rushed into an ending because it was being axed, the manga-ka wouldve had more time to develop the story and ALL of the characters and answer waaaay more questions about each characters personality issues and how the game actually ended and maybe the summer tournament[nationals] and even the high school tournament..that wouldve been awesome
Good

I think the pacing was fine, and the mangaka did explored most of the character potential that he introduced. It was evidently not going to be an expansive work, or he would have thrown in diversity somewhere in the middle. Better "a few more volumes would be nice" than "this has dragged on long enough".
That said, there were areas that could have been developed further. One is the central relationship between Akatsuki and Kiyoharu. We're told that they're childhood friends and we see a little bit of their past, but besides that it remains quite static. It'd be nice if the mangaka threw in some past childhood trauma/experience that they shared, and only resolved in the course of the manga. The present shouldn't be tying up only problems created now, but also exploring the ones created long before, that are alluded to but not explicitly revealed until the time is right.
Otherwise, well done: to me, it promised a 7.5 rating and got it.

Another potential growth area was the "final boss" that appeared before Akatsuki. It would have been good to see what made him like that in a clearly dog-eat-dog school.
Otherwise, well done: to me, it promised a 7.5 rating and got it.

I just finished the series and when I came upon the last chapter I must say I was like 'Wait, talking about Kouhai, and they lost spring won Summer? wait a minute' checked it and what do I see, last chapter only to think that this is just another series. To be honest the series was good and I do want more, Hell I would love to see them lose then have to pick themselves up and win or even you know see Akatsuki start in highschool or something but with just the way that ending is, It kills it.
If one thing can kill a series its a bad ending and this is one of those that left me dissatisfied.
This series is just another Ahiru no sora where we get a Small main character and get a weak time skipped ending.
Not to mention that there wasn't terribly alot of character development especially with the newer characters, Especially the coach. I was expecting After their first match their coach would do something, but honestly What did they have a coach for? I was waiting for something different other then subbing out Akatsuki once.
Overall I guess you could say I was left unimpressed with the Manga, Its a good read for half of it but you know, after F and B team tie the series falls on its face. Chalk it up to being Cancelled I guess (which is what I'm assuming what happened)

Good, but not spectacular

Fight no Akatsuki is a decent manga, but not spectacular in anyway. With odd pacing (one basketball game seems to take up a full volume, and others are not even mentioned) there is remarkably few games played of any importance in a multi-volume manga.
That isn't to say the manga is bad - it's decent. It's entertaining, though with less character development than say Eyeshield 21 or Slam Dunk - but it doesn't manage to go as far.
It's worth reading, but it isn't one that you will remember later.

Knowing the ending, the whole manga takes on a new perspective, and thus I find the ending very appropriate. It's just one of the series who cuts early. Oh, and thank you for the tip on who wins in the end!!! I had to re-read that page in order to understand it!!!

I really liked this manga, I read it just now...which just proves that it was too short...it's like what - 7 volumes? The chapters were very short...and they seemed to really rush at the end. As everyone else is saying, I was unsatisfied with the ending. And to the person who said they couldn't tell - they did make it to the finals...because in the last 2 pages of the manga they say he was the former national champ...
AGGG I really want a sequel to see how he does in high school!

well a cheerfull sports manga. Lovable protagonist but the story could've been so more deeper / longer and they abruptly end the story. Well the read is really enjoyable but you got a bitter aftertaste when it ends. all in all a 8
