Hysterical manga

This manga had me on the floor laughing through almost the whole thing! The main characters are wonderful, and they blend together well in their mottled team of superheros! The fights are entertaining, but I wouldn't recommend reading for the action. If you favor comedy and a bit of romance, READ THIS. The main character may be give you second-hand embarrassment, but it gets much better quickly.

The good:
- The hero is flamboyant and interesting.
- The comedy is actually entertaining.

The bad:
- When it takes itself too seriously.
- Drawing is weird (not bad, weird) sometimes.

Started funny and good But ended with out much progress

this manga is really funny and has great art work its really good so far. there are a lot of great jokes and funny moment and some action that will hopefully continue to develop. although there are some serious moment i only hope that the main characters ability gets more amazing (in a cooler more awesome way) even though its funny that's all.

Welp the manga is finished and i just wanted to update this:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Im really disappointed that they axed this which was so funny and had potential. However im way more disappointed by the fact that they left the main lead with a funny power and never made it cool. I was hoping this would be one of the "seemingly useless power" category or something but it just stayed lame, funny yes but lame and i dont like that.

Generic...?

Some people claim that this series is generic, and I only see that being the case for some parts of the manga (art style, certain jokes, sometimes the ecchi, etc.) However, I don't agree with it being a totally generic series. When it first came out, and still today, I find the series to be (not completely, but definitely somewhat) original.

The main character has the hopes and dreams of becoming an amazing hero, and when his chance finally comes to awaken his hidden powers, he ends up getting powers that make him look like a sex offender. Oh wonderful. His team starts off as weak as him, and they usually rely on their overpowered member for a number of the fights. Despite all these problems though, the manga's aware of them: The protagonist and his other weak comrades bluff a bunch of times for when they're pitted against a tough opponent. It may sound like something lame to do, but hey, it's impressive to have the characters think outside the box (especially when they're at a major disadvantage) beyond engaging in typical (generic) battles. I appreciate how the protagonist may be very weak, but he at least gives an effort to improve/develop his wacky power into something useful. That and how he manages to lead his rag-tag team to victory, all while trying to remain as positive as possible with the given situations.

I understand that the series is not for everyone as for what it has to offer. Still, just put into consideration that it's not as bad as some may say it is...

I agree with what Jandalman said.
It was good until the author tries to make us take it seriously.

Works like this and HighschoolDxD should have keep its light-heart tone.

So I started reading this back when it started out of desperation for a new series. It did the job for a while, the comedy was chuckle-worthy and the art is clean and well done. Echi is well...ecchi. But as of the last few chapters scanlated as of this post (19 chapters) this series has become veeeery generic. Weak-sauce "hero" has a more competent ally carrying him and his pathetic team of weak "strangers" throughout most of the story. Bad guy beats the living shit out of said ally and he is powerless to do anything. Toya (said bad guy) is your usual smug arrogant ass-hat who is sadly very competent with his skills at ass whopping.

All of this boils down to generic shonen.

*Yawn*

When someone utter about good implementation, I kinda expect the manga cater to adult, with a bit complexity and stuff. But after some reading, I'd say no, this one isn't. Removing sexual innuendoes from this manga, heck, even without removing them, the manga still feel made for early teens! The art is generic, the plot is generic, the character is generic, and the narration technique is generic too. It's mediocre, without anything impressive about it. Funny? Maybe. But like anything that's overused, if you encounter them once again, going hype about it start to seem ridiculous.

This manga is absolutely hilarious! The setting is soooo steryotypical for a shounen but the execution is amazing , the hero and heroine's characters remind of okabe and kurisu from steins gate . And the jokes never fail in making you want more =D

When I was asked to work on this series, and I expected the average standard shounen plot line with weak guy getting weak powers, but works his way to become completely overpowered. This would be another boring series so lacking of originality that it would make my head hurt just by reading it - or so I thought at least.

I was proven to be wrong pretty quickly as the way this manga blends humor into the story is nothing short of amazing. The way the author uses parodies along with the sexual innuendos is hilarious.

Well, so far, it's way too early in the story to tell whether I was right or not, but this manga has caught my attention. I would highly recommend anyone to try this one out, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Note that I'm generally a seinen/psychological manga reader, but this series has proven to be an excellent counterbalance, and have managed to keep me engaged and longing for more. I just can't get enough of the gel now!!!
