Wanted to Like It

I really wanted to like it, the characters are beautiful and the storyline seemed fun.
Problem is the story just wouldn’t let me like it. The storyline is all over the place, characters started blending together because they weren’t fleshed out before someone else gets introduced, and the main character is sweet but a total bore.
I really wish I liked it, but I just gave up and stopped forcing myself to read it.

This protagonist sucks

I agree with the commenter below. The main character is the weakest and worst part if this manga. He's the lamest, most annoying Mary Sue I have ever seen. He's got no personality. His personality is that he's perfect; beautiful and kind and selfless. Everyone loves him immediately for no reason. He's got a hot crazy powerful bodyguard ready to die for him at all times. He's great with kids and animals. He selflessly stands up to bullies even when he's outnumbered. His one weakness is that he just cares too much about everybody (barf). He's the kind of character that even when an asshole villain is trying to kill him, he'll get in the way of the people trying to save him so he can plead for the villain's life, because he "understands how they feel." Ugh. He gets in the way of the other characters all the time because he always has to "do something to help." When people are battling to the death, instead of being helpful and aiding his allies, he clutches his chest, squeezes his eyes shut, and screams, "Why do you have to fight!? Stop it. Why can't we all get along?" Lol, it's laughably bad. This is the kind of annoying, obnoxiously self-righteous character that you typically see in really sh*tty shoujos. I really tried to hang on, hoping I would grow to like this manga, but I couldn't do it. It's terrible. And the main reason for that is the protagonist.

A manga like stale white bread

It kinda sucks tbh. They say hindsight is 20/20, and I've gotta agree. I got into this manga back in early high school when I was still in my tamer BL days. The art was really pretty and I thought that the main pair was like, totes cute omg. Today, I saw that it finally got updated again after years and decided to get myself caught up on it again. Now, that I've got more experience and more reading under my belt, I can firmly say that this manga is lack-luster. The only thing it really has going for it is the art. Both the plot and the BL is half-assed. Why is the protagonist such a mary-sue? He's ultra powerful and everything always goes well for him. Everyone loves him. Those who hate him end up liking him. A magically hot boy shows out of no where and bends backwards to please him. He discovers that he has amazing secret powers. Like, seriously? I get that cliches are a staple of manga but damn this manga rolled up all of them and slapped them into one story. Also, most bland personality ever. How many times has the innocent, slightly naive but also determined protag archetype been used by now? And oh my god don't even get me started on chapter 52. HO-LEE-SHiITAKE MUSHROOMS. Is this author for real? So---SPOILERS---

Yuki finds out that his friends has lied to him about the truth behind him being sent to an orphanage. Apparently, his mom volunteered to host the child of god and give birth to him knowing that she would die. This sounds like the perfect set up for some good ol' angst, grieving, drama, and character growth, right? LOL NOPE. It all gets resolved in 10 pages or so. Everyone confesses, apologizes, and then says that his mom absolutely loved him, wasn't forced at all, and peacefully accepted her fate. Now that this life changing revelation has been resolved in the span of 5 minutes everyone can just go yolo swaggity to what they were doing in the first place. Hooray. Honestly tho wtf? I've seen deeper plotlines and drama in fanfictions. Hell, I've seen more nuanced characters in the Twilight series. For real tho, if you're over the age of 14 don't read this. It doesn't do shounen ai very well, it doesn't do plot well, it doesn't even do character development well. Basically, some one took a low-tier story and mixed it with low-tier characterization to bake a piping hot mediocre manga. Don't waste the precious hours of your life reading this when you could be reading something better.

Pretty Good

Not mind blowing but not as painful to read as I'd thought it would be. I didn't really like some of the other manga by this mangaka so I was a little hesitant to read this. But it's a surprisingly easy read, I recommend it.
The plot gets bogged down occasionally and they talk...a lot. Plus I honestly couldn't care less about Yuki's drama with

, it was so cliche and predictable it'll be near the top of my list of predictable plot twists if I ever make one. It's kinda annoying, but not annoying enough to stop me from reading. The only interesting characters are Shuusei, Hotsuma and of course Luka. Yuki's pretty bland, very typical goody doer but at least he stands up when it counts. Everyone else falls into "meh" category.

I'm sure if this was one of the first manga/anime I've ever read/watched I'd be more impressed. But as a seasoned fan, it was entertaining enough. A good time waster. Finding out about Luka and Yuki's past is what'll keep me coming back if it ever starts up again. It's what makes this "okay" manga "good".

Oh and @Tommygurl take a chill pill. This manga isn't worth getting that serious about. You come off as one of those weird people who hate straight relationships. As a fujoshi I understand why it's sometimes less interesting to read about straight romance than BL. But hate is unnecessary. Even the implied incest, which creeps me out as much as the next person, isn't that disgusting or taken seriously in this manga. In fact it's pretty much explained that all the partners can't help it.

It's disgusting

Ok so the plot is good and all but the thing dat annoys me most is Toko's and Tsukomo's relationship, like it's sooo disgusting nd I'm sorry to d people who are fans of their relationship but it's been bugging me for a long time nd i just had to let it out. I don't know how people can enjoy having does two flirt wen they're siblings, like it's not cute it's gross nd man I always feel like I wanna throw up wen I see them so close nd all flirty. I'm a hard yaoi nd a shounen ai fan, so it's really hard for me to see two siblings of opposite sex flirt, I mean come on Tsukomo's too good for toko, he is so cute nd adorable, gosh I hate toko she's annoying. Plus she looks like she likes luka, trying to get in between him nd yuki, she better not cuz so far I'm liking the shonen ai hints between them nd so as for the other partners. I just hope there's no shojo romance

at first it was really, really difficult to get into it. I actually really didn't like it at first. I've read the first volume a couple of times and couldn't get past it. But later today, I stuck through it till the latest volumes and I must say it really isn't too bad. The first volume or two is a bit hard to swallow, but it gets better. Their past and what happened is what interests me the most.
The characters start to flesh out a bit more and more, and the cliches in the first chapters reduce bit by bit.
A lot of BL subtext just a fyi

I like BL and subtext, but this is just one of those series that no matter how much I try, I just can't get into. The characters are not that interesting, and the plot is pretty predictable. Maybe it's because I've read so much manga already.

I didnt want to finish this. It was dragging on and sort of episodic. Sometimes strayed from the original plot which is super annoying and not that i have anything against yaoi, it was labeled as a shoujo manga... Which is what i cam to read.. But yukis a boy. Maybe it makes sense in the end but it was so boring. Good idea though just not well executed.

Worth of redaing even if a bit confused

I've read this manga up until nineth volume and I think I'll keep reading it.
The plot has some runfast and stop and there are entire volumes dedicated to something else that the plot, but is quote good and interesting. The characters presentation is detailed but needs four or five volumes: maybe too much?
Even if Yuki was a woman in his previous life, this is clearly a shounen ai (or at last the shounen ai subplot is very strong and not only for Yuki/Zess but also for other couples, I'd dare to say also for the twisted relationship between Reiga and Takashiro, But people that doesn't like shounen-ai can always look at those relationship like a strong friendship or love and hate feelings ). The manga is way more funny and Yuki is quite less dummy than in the anime. I mean he's cute and lovable but sometimes he seems too slow.
Anyway there are also characters appealing for someone like me who likes more complex/twisted and ironic characters like Takashiro, Tachibana, Reiga ( set aside the ironic part) himself and so on.
I think that this manga is worth of reading and I'll recomend it.

There's more of a reason to Yuki being reincarnated as a boy than you think, not just for the shounen-ai subplot. True, he's regarded as "cute" and a bit androgynous, but the real reason that the original Yuki was reincarnated as a guy is because

it was her last dying wish to do so. The manga even says that she was treated as a "princess" and no one could get close to her, causing an immense feeling of loneliness (which the present-day Yuki even feels). Being reincarnated as a boy took away some of that "delicate/princess" feeling to him (although the guardians are still fiercely protective of him). And the fact that she wanted to forget everything that happened also contributed to this.
