WHAT?!

WHAT THE HECK?! This manga was surprisingly amazing! i didn't expect it to be this GREAT! At first i was hesitant cuz i mean.. Makoto looks like a chick and Ito looks like a boy and at first i was uncomfortable with the whole gender-bender concept but you get used to it since Makoto acts like a boy when he's himself (He's actually very very manly, just for the heads up.) I loved the whole concept of "never giving up on your dream" because it very much relates to everyone and the reality of chasing the "impossible" and the concept of hard work. The characters were also very likable, especially Ito because of her strength and determination! Very unique manga, each volume served a purpose and was very entertaining. Amazing, Loved it and the characters were truly inspirational.
A manga definitely worthy of a 10.

Two Sides...

This is a very orginal crossdressing manga, and it certainly has its unique points to it. There IS a story, but it progresses really slowly, and most of the manga is kind of set up like an episodic line of tales.

I found reading this manga was sometimes like a chore. It's repetitive, and there's no actual romantic tension between the heroine and members of love triangle. While the female rival is actually kind of cool, the male rivals are just plain posessive and thoughtless. It's like they're just addicted to this girl for no reason.

Art was pretty nice. I didn't find it really engaging. This manga is another one of those 'Good Guys Win All', 'Good Guys are Always Right' stories. It's almost disgusting how every situation turns in favor of the main leads.

I thought this manga was really original. Including the fact that the girl looked almost too disturbingly male to fully enjoy the story. I think I'd like the story better if the girl's and the guy's appearances were switched; but well that would ruin the whole purpose of the story...

Love it! This is how I fall in love with Emura sensei. The relationship between Mako and Ito is just simply adorable. Mako is so protective and I feel like that if he's a real person, he will be the perfect guy you want as a BF XD

Don't Hate It

You know, I don't hate this manga. I wouldn't even say I didn't like it, or it's "OK". Truth is, I actually quite like it. I admit, Ito knew Makoto was a boy in the first chapter, and they were in love in the second chapter. The rest of the manga were their adventures while waiting for Makoto to graduate so they could finally be together. The transformation in Ito is actually quite remarkable, and so true! After a girl falls in love once, she's a girl forever. The only thing I didn't really like about this manga was the acting aspects. Because for the majority of the manga, acting didn't seem like a big deal, but there was suddenly a huge change where everything was about acting.

this is an AWESOME series! I was going to stop reading the first volume halfway through, but then I decided to finish it and complete the 2nd one also since I borrowed both. It go sooo much better after that and I got hooked! sometimes it's a bit draggy and off-topic here and there, but watching the characters slowly develop was real interesting. I love the main girl too! she's so likable and awesome unlike those annoying girly girls in other shoujo. overall it was a really good read and definitely deserves a 10

But, upon a second look, I can't see why I like it so much. Recommended for people who can handle having a male romantic interest who cross-dresses for flimsy reasons (to be fair, I think it's his dad that's nuts, not him) and looks absolutely female during a lot of his romantic scenes, a female who looks more like a guy than aforementioned male lead does even when he isn't cross-dressing for the first half of the series, a quick-paced "plot", light-hearted issues and lots of fluff, and exploring the character's relationship as a developed and stable relationship and the problems there instead of the usual "will-they-or-won't-they" plot, and focus more of the main characters hiding secrets from the rest of the world than each other. Otherwise, you should probably approach with caution.

I think that's what I liked about this: the establishment of a relationship early on. The falling in love occurred rather quickly, but the different approach to the romance than more series in this genre made it stand out to me. It was overly-fluffy and mostly held together by a game of "toss the conflict ball", but it was fun.

Unlike what a lot of people have said i find this manga too fast paced. Everyone is introduced within the first couple of chapters, the romance begins far too quickly and everything that happens is kind of, well, boring.
I don't really like Ito or Makoto that much, in fact, i forget their names constantly. I don't even know the names of other characters, i haven't bothered to learn them. One character did stand out, the short little brat, and only because i hated her so much. Maybe that's a success...?
Anyway, read at your own boredom/peril/whatever.

Best among the best.

This is among my first mangas that I love during the Viz's reign over TokyoPop. Yes, the first chapter can be a bit awkward because it rushed the love a bit. The author did say that she was surprised that her fans asked for the sequel, so after the first chapter, the art and story did improved dramatically.

I love it, what can you say? It gives you a sweet feeling and the comedy is hilarious. I love Ito; tomboyish and strong and act like her brothers. It cracks me up how similar we both are when I was a kid. Makoto is funny in his own way since he's using the way of females to get out of pinch situations. The dodging and hiding of Makoto's real gender is the main focus of this manga and it had became the center point of humor. Aside from that, the side characters' development that made me attach to several of them.

This manga keeps growing and growing in character and story development. I find it surprised that several people don't like it. I do understand that sometimes, we get frustrated with the side characters because they act stupid and supposedly doing something to hinder the couple, but I think it's not that frustrated compare to other mangas I've read. Those frustrating side character did grow-up and became tolerable, although sometimes they are made to be the comedy relief for certain chapters.

So character development is a 10, story is a 10 and humor is 10+, the art is 10++. What can I say? Give this manga a try and it's definitely worth the hardcopy.
