Great in the Beginning
by Sogno

Rating: 7.0  / 10.0
I absolutely was in LOVE with this in the beginning. First, you have a male lead who is dark-skinned and doesn't fit the bill of bishounen (though he's still cute). Second, they're both physically strong people that allows for many comedic situations. Third, lots of typical shoujo cliches don't fit here; they go the opposite direction or just don't happen at all.

Then somewhere in the middle it really, like other reviewers have said, goes downhill. Rival after rival is introduced; the main couple seem to draw only psychotic, obsessed people (including family!). Whereas before the main girl could take care of herself, she ends up having to get saved time and time again.

I feel that maybe the mangaka should have just stopped before going typical-shoujo route plus the crazy psycho characters. It really was a wonderful beginning. I suggest reading the first 2 volumes for the good stuff.

Although, the main lead's angry "I'm-gonna-beat-your-butt" faces are priceless throughout the entire thing.

I'm giving this a good rating solely because of the first part. I'd give a 3.5 for the rest of it.

funny. Mizuki was hilarious..with the amount of chapters out right now you would think its a one shot. Nice ending technically..although i dont think it is finished.

ULTIMATE fave shoujo for those who are sick of male bishies
by vambam

Rating: 8.0  / 10.0
the story is really good... it's one of the rare shoujo plots where in both male and female leads aren't the most handsome/pretty in the school. The female lead is not an annoying crybaby(though there was a time she cried). And she isnt clumsy and DUMB like most of shoujo heroines. she really is KICK ass cool and strong... the male lead is not the princely typical perfect (mary sue) one who is rich/talented/sporty/etc.. he is just an ordinary dude who falls in love just like anybody else (though he has a delinquent tendencies)....
sometimes when i read shoujo, there's an air that only the handsome guy deserves to be the prince/ or only the prettiest can be the princess in a romance story... BUT in this manga, it told us a reality that EVERYONE even the most normal/ordinary person in your class fall in love...(yuck i just said a cheesy line, eww)

so for those who are already sick of super hot bishies or moe cutie leading ladies, this one is for you...and dont worry coz the main leads are still lovable bigrazz ... (BUT in my own standards, Hirata is still hot even if he's not described as one.)

it is a bit repetitive

the concept of Chiemi overdoing it, that is. in a few scenes, i wanted to grab her by the arms and shake her, yelling "get a grip, already!" she forgets her trust in him and her friends too easily. and she allows her emotions to run her mouth. i just wish she thought a bit more, not that she's the typical shoujo bimbo, or anything. well, a lot of the comedy stems from this flaw in her character.
i enjoy many parts of this series. it's funny and very sweet- mostly the male lead. i just wish he wasn't generally the only one to use his common sense.

Started really well...

At first this manga was daring and original, especially for a shoujo manga, but then it becomes a typical melodramatic crap that every other shoujo manga turns into. In particular, the strong female lead becomes weak and defenseless out of nowhere for no other reason than to conform to lame standards of shoujo.

Don't bother with Honki...
by marunero

Rating: 6.0  / 10.0
I finished the entire series, including the sequel. Like others before me have said, it kind of goes downhill. The best part about this story is the unique couple. Yusa Chiemi is the typical air-headed protagonist...on steroids. Hirata, on the other hand, is more typical, but that doesn't mean he's boring. In fact, I think the author (and Chiemi) kicks Hirata around way too much that it gets old. Not just physically, but the series is funny and sweet when the two are together! Why do you have to mess with that? Seino just keeps introducing rivals after rivals that the focus of each volume seem to shift towards the rival instead. Everyone becomes BFF's with Chiemi while Hirata is complacently standing in a corner. The comedy of the series is largely slapstick; it's simple but it's great! I loved the surprised expressions of each character than reminds me of series like Gintama. However, the author just doesn't do very well with drama. The episode with Tachibana (and later Yui) are just so sappy and predictable. The only reason I persisted in reading this series is because of my hope that it would go back to a more lighthearted rom-com in later chapters, but boy was I disappointed. Honki does nothing but ditch Chiemi's best friends and bring in more cookie-cutter side characters and rivals in Hirata and Yusa's relationship. The development between Komaki and Oono were totally disappointing, too. It's best to stop reading right when Tachibana shows up now that I think about it.

The Side Characters
by password99

Rating: 6.5  / 10.0
The story isn't much of a story. It's just a narration of everyday of Hirata and Chiemi's love life.

I think the only thing that keeps me reading this story are the side characters. They're hilarious and interesting. The male lead is alright too i suppose. He was kinda cute in chapter 5... smile The female seemed different at first but as the story progressed seemed kinda generic..

Amazing at first, then turned kinda bland

I second what everyone else said on it. The first few volumes of this manga were awesome. I laughed my head off and couldn't stop reading it. Hirata's absolutely adorable and Chiemi's pretty cute. But later on...I'm not sure. The story just started getting a little bland and repetitive, with the only new elements coming from love triangles - never my favourite in any case. From both this manga and Power!, the mangaka seems to have a problem finishing well.

this manga is downright hillarious and i just love the main couple. but the story i feel gets a bit out of hand and too wacky..turns into a big mess. If you like this, you should definetely check out the mangaka's other series power!! it's just as hillarious.

Hilarious! I kept laughing and laughing! The main characters are not that annoying. They're pure comedy gold! Even though some of the side characters are crazy. This manga never fails to make me laugh. When you think it's a serious moment. BAM the author makes it funny <3
Love-love-love it smile
