Description
From Yen Press:
When their high school's pop-music club is about to be disbanded due to lack of interest, four girls step up to fill the membership quota. Unfortunately, lead guitarist Yui Hirasawa has never played an instrument in her life. Ever.
And although she likes the idea of being in a band, standing in front of the mirror posing with her guitar is a lot easier than actually playing it. It's gonna be a while before this motley crew is rocking out but with their spunk and determination cranked to 11, anything is possible.

Cute and clever 4koma, which handles it's genre and format quite well.
If you're familiar with the anime adaptation you'll find the studio was quite faithful to this source material.
For some unknown reason the anime adaptation brings out a few nuts; who are oddly and vehemently disturbed by what is a light, innocuous and enjoyable story. As there is nothing remotely controversial in the 4koma or the anime, it's baffling as to the source of their rage.
Some state the source of their anger, is the fact that the main characters are female and there is no male lead, although there are many, many manga like that. Others are outraged that the characters are percieved to be "cute", and by way of illusory correlation associate "cuteness" with pedophelia. This despite of the fact that the characters are full figured and currently taking university entrance exams.
The problem may lie with the detractors emotional immaturity, alternative sexual frustration (see teniki's comment), confirmation bias and cognitive dissonance; but these traits still don't completely explain the raw emotional furor displayed over something so light and innocuous.
If you're a normal person (male or female, of any age) and looking for something relaxing and enjoyable, give this a read.

So fun! So cute! Interactions are utterly adorable, and with that kind of energy, you don't need a plot. *High school* doesn't need a plot.
Okay, somewhat fetishized, but it's just the right amount of fetishized. Nothing really overt, a crush on your sempai, a close childhood friendship that borders on possessive. Nice!

I love it.
I love it because I'm a musician myself (Keyboards).
I love it because I have something for left handed guitarists. I loose control if it's a female
I love it because it's NOT one bit Serious.
I love it because the characters are unrealistically comic.
I love it because the humor make me laugh.
I love it because it's extreme Moe/Cute/Kawaii...
You'll love it. Or at least you won't hate it...

First thing first...
@ Teniki Yes there is a male character in it. It's that guy who works in the music store in chapter 2. Small role but still a guy xD. Alright teniki you know what to do xD.
In my opinion, it doesn't really matter what genders are the characters, as long as its good. =D
So far this manga hasn't been much of a let down (though it would be better with a few guys maybe? xD) but maybe this is the author's excuse to keep romance out of the story or something. So far it's a nice little 4koma to read, but not to the same level as some notable past 4koma.

Actually i have been introduced to this series about a year ago, but i didnt interested with it. However for some reason i try to read it and seriously cant stop and fall in love with. I found the series was so lively, lovely, funny, cute and fresh. All of K-On members have different characteristic and I think they are just so crazy. Everyday they just hang around in the music club room and enjoyed every piece of cake and tea that Mugi-chan made. So many times they missed to practice music but they managed to do everything succesfully, and it just wonderful that they really enjoy their youth time. Well for me now i am the big fan to K-ON!

I suppose shooting games are for people who don't have the balls to fire real guns? Or that action/adventure mangas are for people who are too lazy/afraid to save the world?
Harsh? No, just a callous, groundless, and opinionated generalization. Realist? My ass. The manga for the most part isn't even addressed.
Anyway the characters mesh well, and their interations are usually funny/cute. The art is fine; it's simple and fits the flow of a 4-panel.
4-panels tend to give off a "slice-of-life" feeling as half the time they can be read seperately or out of order and still make sense.
Azumanga, Lucky Star, K-ON. I'm sure there are going to be more of the same fashion.

I love both the manga and the anime. It's light-hearted comedy and moe character really makes every seconds I read it worthy for every stress that fly away. kakifly did a good job in realtime timing in the manga.
Don't be bothered by reading it if you're not into random light-hearted easy-going comedy plot. 4koma isn't the place to find a complex plot, non-stop action, or deep tearjerking romance. It's simply for you to laugh to your heart content.
I hate this series is over, but I can say that Kakifly and the anime crew have done an excellent job.

This is a pretty average comedy series. It's a series of short comic strips involving the same characters, with no significant plot or development.
It's appeal is that everything from the art to the humor is "cute", in a lighthearted and childish kind of way. There are some hilarious moments, but, for the most part, the events are amusing but not really funny.

I find this series very funny and, yes, cute... but mostly just funny. The characters are likable and the comedic pacing is on point. I would consider this Azumanga Daioh with guitars. Admittedly, not quite up to AD's humor level - but let's be honest, what in this world really is?
If you ask me, teniki's "review" ought to be removed from this site. It amounts to little more than "I didn't find this manga funny, so it must only appeal to sickos and pedos." As a 31-year-old female who finds this manga both funny and appealing... Let me assure you that you don't have a clue what you're talking about, teniki. And if this manga upsets you so much... I shudder to think how you'd react to some of the other manga out there that actually IS aimed at that kind of audience.
