So you might think; what the heck is this?

Masturbation. That's what kicks this story off, male masturbation. You might think; why the heck is this manga getting such high ratings when it involves masturbation? Simple answer; Onani Master Kurosawa is the best completed, and feel-good manga I have ever read that will forever be remembered.

This manga will make you feel sad, make you feel happy, make you feel disgusted, make you feel justified, make you feel sympathy; this manga has it perfectly tied up. So you're finally interested? Then let me tell you what this manga is about.

Kurosawa is a high school boy that doesn't do much in life. He hates interacting with people, and even his so called 'only friend' in his class he actually secretly dislikes. So he hates people, that's a given. At school, at the end of the day, he will go to the girl's bathroom in an empty school part, and start fantasizing about his 'victim', which will be a girl he had his eye on for that day. He will imagine doing the dirty deed with her and masturbates to it. After he finishes up, he makes sure no one saw him, because that would be disastrous. He will repeat this a few days, until one girl finally figures out what he does in that empty bathroom stall.

This girl is called Kitahara and gets bullied. A LOT. Kurosawa notices she gets bullied every day by 2 other girls. Eventually they bully the girl so much the entire class is laughing at her, and Kurosawa can't do anything but watch. He's angered; he wants to punish those girls for bullying a girl who can not stand up for herself. So he ... steals the bully's gymclothes and masturbates to get semen all over it (don't ask why, he thinks it's a fiitting punishment). He then puts the clothes back into their bag. The game has begun.

Now here comes a bit of spoilers, so don't read further if you don't want to be spoiled of the first 5 chapters or so.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Kitahara confronts him when he just finished his daily masturbation session. She stands outside the bathroom stalls and tells him she knows he is in there. Kurosawa is scared out of his mind and pretends he's not actually in the room. Kitahara keeps on talking to him, telling him that she knows it was him who ruined those girls' gymclothing. She asks for a favour, she wants him to do it again to another person who bullies her ... in return for keeping quiet about his daily happy hour. And so the blackmailing begins as well.

This manga deals with bullying in the most realistic degree. The masturbation stuff is merely a plot device to help propel the compelling story about all these classmates. Heck, in even later chapters, masturbation is barely even mentioned. It is all about the classmates and how they interact with each other, try to bully people, try to punish people, try to apologize, try to become better and eventually they finish high school.

Onani Master Kurosawa talks about every minor character and develops them so well, it's unbelievable the amount of character development everyone in this manga gets. Of course the main character gets the most (you'll cheer for him in the end), but even the bullies themselves get some development.

You will be in tears of joy once you finish it. This masturbation ridden manga is a beautiful story. You have to read it; you won't find anything more finished and complete than this slice of life manga. I recommend it to everyone, even those who think the topic of masturbation is icky. You just can't miss out on this great manga.

You might read other reviews here stating that it's a Death Note parody, they couldn't be more wrong. There's one page in this manga that's a parody of Death Note, and that's it. It's just a pose the main character makes, the rest is all original story, so really, give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

I can't believe a manga about masturbation made me fucking cry.

Like, seriously bawl. Heartbreaking and ridiculously sweet. Throughout the first chapters, you might think, "Oh god, this is so gross," but everything in this manga is done for a purpose, even the most subtle things. The random anime references seem out of place, but give it a little thought and you get some real insight into the main character's feelings - even if he doesn't admit them to himself.

Go read it. There's a reason everyone and their brother is giving this a 10.

It's a trap. Notice how there is no ecchi tag? Right. This series is vastly different from what I thought it would be after reading the title and the summary and that's just fine. I read through this in one session and it definitely is one of the more satisfying reads. It's a kind of school drama with Kurosawa's character development as main focus.

While the title and the summary sound ridiculous, you should never give up on a manga before reading it.

A manga masterpiece

Funnily enough, I'm giving this manga a 10/10 and I really don't know why. Honestly, the art isn't all that good, the story falls victim to copy-paste character referencing and lingers upon a perverted border of being misleading for readers.

However, before you're put off, I will say that the manga itself performs so well that the aforementioned problems are immediately overridden by a deluge of the raw emotions of a great story with a large space to fill the reader's sympathy with.

The story itself starts off shamelessly, and rather humorously, with the ever-so taboo subject matter of masturbation purely taking the center stage in the first volume, but quickly descends into a cesspool of raw feelings and human emotions conveyed by ridiculously realistic characters before tearing apart your heart and then piecing it back together. Plot twists also show unfathomable realism, such that the chances of predicting what happens next fall to record lows. The orgasmic climax of the manga fits it, without giving the reader too much despair. You will, however be left with feelings that will carry weight for a lifetime and find yourself thinking about the manga for a good week or so.

However, one could say that the characters fall victim to stereotypes and schemers of the human mind, but after great character development coupled with their ever-so-unique personality attributes, the depths of their inner psyches are such that they can be described as nothing but realistic.

The art itself is rather unprofessional, mainly because it is. But despite its lack of prowess, one can confidently say that it does its job. Characters are immensely expressive, very recognizable and have suiting visuals to their personality, while the backgrounds are almost non-existent. The sketchy style suits the sour premise of the manga, but can be a little unbearable for readers used to higher quality.

Now that the outrageous rating has been ambiguously justified, I can personally say that it is the greatest manga I've read so far without a gram of exaggeration. An instant favourite of literature. A showcase of humanity's prowess.

If you haven't read it, stop whatever you are doing, throw away shame and shyness and start reading the first chapter wherever you may be. It's really that good.

I wasn't expecting much from this manga. A lot of manga are drawn out too long just because they are popular, and a lot of really good manga are canceled too soon before they hit their stride. Fortunately, Onani Master was neither; it was just the right length: It tells a story from beginning to end and then stops. And it's a great story that everyone can relate to. After all, everyone has experienced jealousy, bullying (a little or a lot), and the conflict between wanting to isolate and wanting to relate to others. Oh yeah... and everyone masturbates.

I can't fully express what I think of this manga but here are just a few thoughts; that is the amazing control and ability the author was able to put into the characters. Not only did the characters seem genuine, it was very convincing to take into the roles of those who were outcasted, and those who weren't. "Onani" showed many sides of human emotion, and for that I give this manga a lot of credit when it comes to being a very enjoyable read. Take into consideration very genuine human emotions, mixed in with teenage anxiety and what you get is Onani.

This is the most well-written manga I have ever read. The premise/summary might turn you away, but if it does, then you are missing out on a masterpiece.

This 4 volume manga is incredibly intense, and the story-telling is unbelievable. The buildup from the first 2 volumes explodes into all out chaos in the 3rd, and the 4th volume provides one of the most satisfying and well-written endings you will ever come across. If I had one complaint, it would be the lack of other titles by this author, because this level of story-telling is one that I have yet to see in other mangas.

The character evolution is mind-boggling, and the first person narrative really puts you into the mind of the male lead. As the description says, this manga truly shows the worst and best of the human condition. Instead of resorting to cheap acts and exaggerations to illustrate human cruelty, the author cleverly shows the cruel effect daily situational occurrences can have on the main characters. Although the story is at times soul-crushing, it is eventually able to lift the characters out of their seemingly endless spiral, and the ending could not be more heart-warming. That, in my opinion, is the best part of this awesome manga.

The art is not perfect, the premise is a turn off, but give it a chance and you will be surprised. Onani Master Kurosawa is an unbelievable story of weakness, strength and redemption that will make you think, feel and ultimately smile.

At first I was skeptic about it. I thought "how can a manga about masturbation have such good ratings. Were the critics high?" But it turned out, they weren't. This manga is surpringly good. When I was done reading the last chapter, I felt like a chapter of my life was closing. This is the greatest "slice of life" genre you will read.

Amazing Series

I thoroughly enjoyed every part of this manga. The main hero is so very believable and unique in that he doesn't fill any cliche's that have been done in the manga business before. He's a guy that you don't really like or hate in the beginning but will make you shift your views of him regularly as the story progresses.

I originally thought this would just be some super ecchi title that would simply go on and on with him fapping in every chapter. Which is what I love about this manga, it is short and manages to tell a very unique (if not touching) kind of story WITHOUT resorting to cheap panty-flashes or the typical I-knock-you-over-and-grab-your-breasts scenerio. The path that the main protagonist walks is neither completely pure nor tainted as has been used in many manga before. Many of the characters have a depth to them that I haven't seen in some time. They are all seemingly realistic people that you could possibly meet in real life. No typical shoujo girl, shounen boy, angsty hero, or anything of the sort. The characters each go through their own hardships and insecurities and you just come to love them even more in the end.

Highly recommended. The masturbation scenes are not graphic to the point where it would be 18+ (the artist does an amazing job censoring) and the story is something that will stick to you for quite some time. It is a gem among the many manga titles out there and you would be missing out greatly if you didn't at least read through it once. I'll have to agree with simpleeyelid though, READ SLOWLY or you will miss a lot of the story.

i was fooled by this manga's title, my 1st thought it will be a full ecchi manga, but after read half of the chapter, i was wrong! the story really awesome, but the main aspect that i'd like to share is friendship, no matter how other people treat you, there's always someone cheers you up (my wise words)
