Great manga, i loved the main story and the characters, Not for all tastes as you can probably see from the rating, but for vampire lovers this is an intresting point of view about vampires featuring vampirism as a disease.

very sad and good manga

Despite the fact that i don't really like this vampire-theme, Lament of the Lamb was one of the best manga i have ever read. All 47 chapters were very bitter and sad. If you like deep dark drama then this is your very choice. And as for the ending - it's just as great as the whole manga.

Not Bad

Was a pretty good read. However, it seems people are confusing the series with Vampirism, due to Chizuna refering to herself as a Vampire.

The disease mentioned is most likely based on Porphyria (A disease which taxes the body, and many claim that the ingestion of blood can halt it). It has nothing to do with Vampires or the supernatural.

Also, incest hardly plays any role at all, mostly just the few times that Chizuna and Kazuna kiss.

Still a very good read. It was quite depressing, though.

Wasted potential

Overall, the manga seems pretty good at first. It's got a strange, but nice style which improves over the volumes. The story is pretty slow paced and is good at setting the mood. The character also work well, even though they tend to be mindnumbingly stubborn at times. Unfortunately, the manga is also extremely predictable, with no twists or climaxes. The ending completely ruined it for me, as it took the easy way out, and felt like a depressing copout with no closure. All in all, the ending simply made me wish I hadn't started on this manga, as I don't approve of the fates the author chose to give the characters. It's like being back to square one.

It was a really meh story. I was expecting more since people kept "highly" recommending it on forums, but it really isn't that great and personally I wouldn't recommend it to anybody (at least not highly).
The artwork is a little less than mediocre, and there's not a lot of character development. It just leads you on, with a pathetic dragging plot, then it dumps you near the end and says "ok thats it, you sure wasted your time."

fatal last chapter

Nice story. We can felt deep emotions within the story between Kazuna and Chizuna. So the artwork, really nice in drawing the character's feeling and conditions.

IMHO, I really really really DISAPPOINTED with the last chapter. The last chapter made me feel so sorry. I agree with 狂気 , "I really wish the last chapter was never made", and with zero-chan, "Lament of the Lamb would have been perfect with only 46 chapters". IMO, one chapter to turned all down, and more fatal, LAST chapter T___T So because the last chapter I can't give 10 T___T

The author knows how to tell a story. As for the quality of the story it is up to the individual to decide. One thing for sure, this is a solemn read, not for a person looking for action and excitement.

two endings

yes, thats what i want to believe with this manga. one with depressive ending and one with hopeful ending. that way i wont feel cheated.

on the whole i like this manga. it is sombre, dark, and slow but the atmosphere feel right. the characters may be depressive but they act like real humans. well, i do like happy go lucky type because i read manga to get out of the reality of real humans, but occasionally reading about characters that act realistically is good too.

i wont recommend this to just anyone. as long as you okay with slow pacing, depressing monologue and heavy incestuous tones, you may read this. if not, dont bother.

The author changed his mind sometimes in the middle of the story, but that didn't bother me. Almost to the end I felt this was one of the best manga I've read. I like to think that the manga ended on the second last chapter. I really wish the last chapter was never made, or that I would have never read the last chapter.
