Middleschoolers ? O RLY ?

what blows my mind is the fact that ryoma and team are merely middleschoolers as it seems. Roughly every1 except ryoma looks like hes in his mid 20's. I wonder how the hell the authors gonna show growth and ageing ? maybe they'll get beards and alzheimer in highschool ? Anyway, the story so far could be depicted in 1 chaper seeing as the chapers are 10 pages long and nothing rly happens. Oh and 'Supernatural' in Genre is long overdue seeing as this never was real tennis to begin with.

Yeah, I know, sequels usually aren't as good, but I don't care. Prince of Tennis was just too good. I was so sad when Prince of Tennis was finished. I'm so glad the mangaka decided to keep the series going. I'll be able to read more about Ryoma and others now. I'm super excited for Shin Prince of Tennis. It's just like the first one, full of action/fantasy elements in a tennis manga. If you didn't like the first one, well you're probably not going to like the second. But if you absolutely LOVED the first one, you'll definitely love Shin Prince of Tennis.

I don't know where this series is going. It is not even a good continuum of the first series, it has liked moved onto another dimension with this new series. Transitioning from the earthly tennis to the galactic tennis. Even in the original series, it had initiated that transition near the end, to many's discontent. And now it plans to continue on that with greater intensity.

The first series was acceptable despite the superpower things going on, since its foot was still on the ground, this one, there is not even an expectation of that happening...

It would have been a better idea to start a new series on a completely different idea instead of trying to mess up with what is already on brittle grounds...

There are a lot of people saying that this sequel is just a piece of shit. Personally, I think they don't understand anything. Konomi-sensei, sice the very beginning, wrote Prince of Tennis series just as an INTRODUCTION to this story. You may not like it, but that's how is it.

I still love the characters, and finally Ryoga has appeared in the manga! =)

The only thing I feel dissappointed with are the few chapters on each chapter, but well, there are 2 chapters per month, after all.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the chapters ^_^

ok, prince of tennis first manga spoilers below. im not going to spoiler tag them because if you are here, its a given that you read pot first.

so here we are. have a gifted person, and watch him grow up or evolve, getting more and more imposable as that happens, i don't mind this is want makes a sport manga tolerable to me is some amount of out there ness. than came this pinnacle of hard work and all that crap, and was it just me or want ryoma suppose to be in the same league as his dad by the end of the first manga.

now i dont give the manga shit for the pinnacle shit, mainly because in alot of sports, especially ones with fighting 1 on 1, you can tend to see whats coming next with a certain level of skill. so all i saw those at were just a weird way to say they have that much skill.

than you have the stupid crap that they all go through...

basically the first manga ended, and i couldn't see it continuing with anything more than a oneshot of 10 years down the line.

now this mangaka, was suppose to take a lot of time off to make a new manga, not pot, when the first one finished. apparently he failed so much that he had to fall back on pot about a year later.

i personaly have no hope of this ever becoming anything worth reading.
BECAUSE
#1 - main character has to either take a few steps back in skill
or
#2 - characters have to be retardedly powerful, to the point of why arent they pros?
or
#3 - the main character has a retarded requirement to pull out potential that never gets met.

because this manga already ended at the right point i see no reason for more, and because of the authors own incompetence and having to fall back on something he already ended like this, i cant say this will ever be good.

I just finished a re-read of the original series, and was excited to have a follow-up. Now I find that instead of moving the middle schoolers into high school and pro circuits, we get some idiotic mind-f*ck tennis camp vs primitive back-to-nature training with an obvious neo-luddite point of view? How ridiculous and how not worth the time. Oh, and to top it, tennis battles that used to take volumes now take 2-3 10 page chapters. The only reason this doesn't get a 1 score is because I'm happy to see the characters again, and because the art is better than ever. Too bad the story doesn't come close.

It would seem as if a lot of people don't like this sequel but I have to say that I love it...before it was mostly about seigaku members but now that they are going up against high schoolers it's more about other middle schoolers too... Like all the other team members that were in the prequel... I love their teamwork.. It's a very nice readi have to say.. I'm totally addicted

I'm simply at a loss as to how people rated this a 10. Hell, even some of the comments of other reviewers make me wonder if they're delusional or simply stupid.

- This series has no amazing battles. Each one lasts a split second without anything truly gained or lost.

- This series has no character development. I waded through 60 chapters of this !@#$ and not once did I see a single person change. Sure there was power creep beyond belief but not anything deeper. There couldn't have been as characters are cycled in for one chapter and then disappear the next.

- This series has no suspense. Suspense requires a connection to what you're reading, and there is no connection to be made. Not to the soon-to-be forgotten characters, to the inhuman struggles of a middle-school tennis player who can't hit 15 balls at once, nor to a plot that holds no sense of structure. You get 2 pages of fluff where the players are introduced with trash talk about their victory, 3 pages to show the match, and then a repeat to finish off the chapter.

- This series isn't like the original. The original starts off slow as it introduces the characters, and then you see as the 7 members of Saigaku compete against other teams. This one doesn't follow any character specifically; it takes all the team members from the original and has them randomly compete against a barrage of new opponents whom, like I said earlier, disappear into oblivion after their split second battle.

PS: A rank of 10 means perfection where you wonder where this series was all your life. Ok, maybe not that extreme but it's easily one of the best you've ever read. If it were possible, my rating would be negative because I want the time wasted on this series back.

Examples of 10's: Full Metal Alchemist, Berserk, Slam Dunk, Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind, etc.

The tennis moves and training methods are absurd, BUT I find reading this manga is still interesting. After reading the latest chapter I have the feeling of wanting more. The story and character development must be working for me to want more releases. I play tennis competitively and I acknowledge that this manga GREATLY exaggerates tennis, but that is keeping the story interesting and entertaining for me.

I was a fan of the prequel even though it had those retarded-like super special moves and stuff. I was delighted when I found out there will be a sequel but when I read the first chapter, I knew that the next volumes were going to end in disaster.

First of all, why didn't the mangaka just bury it already?! PoT's finished, everyone's done with the craptastic tennis, the 3rd years graduated, Ryoma went to America. Why was there a need for a sequel, especially in a time setting where they were still in middle school? I can only smell money here, phishing out all the money they can from the fans while PoT is still hot. I mean, every chapter was thin, the chapters had about 15 pages of ridiculous "tennis matches" and IT WAS EXPENSIVE than the normal tankoubon! What's with that!

And don't even get me started with the art. It NEVER changed, the characters were still stick-like figures with height like that of a giant's despite them being middle and high schoolers. There was totally no development in the characters, the story and the mangaka's skills as well.

But I continued reading it to give it a try, after all, I can see my favorite characters again. It was too much. I sold the 7 volumes that I had. What a total waste of time and money. I don't get how people can easily say it's "PARFEEEECT 10+++!!" in spite of the stupidity going on in front of their eyes. But eh, it comes down to people's preferences. Have fun everyone. bigrazz
