Sure, we all indulge in the fantasy of the cold, brooding male who hides a burning passion for the heroine but one who actually disrespects the hopes and dreams of his partner and uses everything in his power to tear down all she's worked for?
The man who does this should be kicked to the kerb. Most of Shinjo's works are filled with controlling, emotionally abusive rapists and I'm saddened that there is a market for this among young girls. Girls want romantic drama but this kind of toxic relationship is turning the the pages of female emancipation back a hundred years. I'm not sure if this an aspect of Japanese culture but I'd like to think women are not treated like chattels, even in fiction. I would just like shoujo heroines not to be weak snivelling stupid girls but be smart and strong yet retain their feminity. Elizabeth Bennett anyone? (Oops that was written more than a hundred years ago and therein lies the rub.)
Rant over, I'm giving a three because there were some moments of humour but that was not due to the main characters.

NOTE: probably some spoilers ahead, but I don't know what the bbcode for that is; sorry e-e.
"Shinjo Mayu" is basically synonymous with "pointless smut" and I think we all knew that coming into Love Celeb, but she has reached a new low with this one.
Glorified rape and weak, naive (read: just plain stupid) heroines are her trademarks but in the end, everything usually pans out somewhat acceptably and that's probably the only reason she has any fans (or so I would hope, as the idea of girls buying into and truly enjoying this crap is too terrifying to even consider).
But I draw the line at the turn this story has most recently taken. Shinjo's females have never been wholesome or bright, but Kirara is basically whoring herself out to anyone who poses even a minimal threat to Gin, who she is supposed to "love." She doesn't stop to think of other ways out of the messes they get into; she simply opens her legs to solve every problem they face, trying to justify it by claiming it to be the only way.
Usually whenever one of Shinjo's heroines is faced with a rival male trying to stake his claim on her body, she makes at least some effort to refuse and resist but such is not the case with Love Celeb.
Kirara simply rolls over and lets any and every sex-crazed man have his way with her, and even goes so far as give her actual love (completely forsaking Gin, to whom it is supposed to belong) to someone she barely knows and who has been terrorizing her for as long as he's been present in the manga.
For as much role as she plays, she might as well not even be an actual character; she is truly nothing but a sexual object and the worst part is that she consciously made herself that way. Shinjo could've replaced her with a blowup doll and then at least this manga wouldn't be so insulting to anyone without a Y chromosome.
There are limits, and I hope this is something Shinjo will finally come to realize.

Honestly, I read this years ago before it became so popular and I thought it was what loads of manga today is: decent. It wasn't anything special to me and it still isn't. I agree with some that some of the scenes edged dangerously close to rape. The ending just pissed me off.

Nakazono Kirara is dumb, Hanamaki is a bastard - and if a girl allows men to treat her like that, then what's the chance of a good story or should I say who would care about what happens to her?! Sorry, this manga is rubbish. Aine from Kaikan Phrase is just a bit better (still stupid, but)!
im not really getting into an indepth analysis, i overall thought it was a cute read

It was very cute, but personally I think it could've ended after volume 4. Everything else just seemed unnecessary to me. I love the characters, even though I think Kirara was a little too stupid for my taste. I mean I can handle stupid girls, but there is such a think as ridiculously stupid. Which quite defines her sigh. I thought that Gin, though a little unreasonable sometimes was really cute lol But I loves everything anyway. Shinjo Mayu does great work =]
The thing about this manga is that it's terrible. It really is. All of the characters are shallowly defined by one word apiece. Gin is sex. Kirara is weak. Hanamaki is... I don't know what he is. He flip-flops between jealous and bastardly.
But at the same time, I found myself laughing a lot while reading this. Partially at how bad it is... mostly at how bad it is. But until it gets ridiculously repetetive, if you can deal with the SEX (in caps for sheer amount), you may get a few laughs, too.

I hated Love Celeb. Okay I wont say hate, that sounds a bit harsh. I don't like it. Honestly, I don't like any of Mayu Shinjo's works at all. I tried some just from the few who liked it and I wanted to give it a shot. Glad I tried it so I'll know for the future to not read any of them. The men are ugly (well supposedly beautiful to everyone else...but ugh they're so not). The man have this weird look which makes you not like them even more. Then all the girls, counting this one...are so naive and whiny! They never appear strong and they're the weak heroine. Then the guys all they ever want to do is rape rape rape and the girls don't mind? WTF?! Plus the the plot/storyline is just absolutely absurd and stupid. How do they fall in love all of a sudden too? I never really enjoyed any of this and I hope you don't mind my negative feedback. Not trying to be mean honestly.

It was okay at first... And as usual, Shinjo's female lead was annoying. I was really glad about her fresh character Gin... for about first 2 volumes... then... He turned into one of Shinjo's usual lead male character... *shudders* I could not go on...

(c) Aroused by the sexual harrassment(s) but acts all 'Virgin-like'
3) Politics are defined as "a world full of charismatic 'sexy' Rich-full bred Bishies who gets SUPPORT from sex-crazed women"
4) Showbiz is defined as "Women Whoring themselves to reach the Top. Men are Pimps in the Showbiz"
