This is not a "shounen".

Just to address a few comments below this.

1. Shounen is NOT a genre. It is a demographic. As the information on this page states, the demographic of this manga is seinen. Demographic just says what the target audience's age group is, but does NOT say anything about content. That also goes for shounen, which isn't supposed to say anything about content. Action-y battle stories shouldn't be called shounen, just what they are, action battle stories.

2. The comment below this says something about "pedophiliac smut". I don't know if the person really knew what he/she was talking about, or even if they actually even read the manga, for there is no "smut" in this. There is no sex, not even frontal nudity; or else it would have been reflected in the list of categories, genres and demographics for this manga. There are also no children or adults lusting for children in this manga, so I don't know where his/her "pedophiliac" description came from.

Puppets and School

It is pretty standard you have your one twist, the puppets, and then you have school. You got your vengeful main and devoted heroine a basic recipe that has been time tested yes some might find it stale but in its own right it works well to read and enjoy.

Hard to balance.

It's hard for a writer to balance the difference between rushing ideas onto a page or taking some time to explain, and/or build, ideas on that same page. I love the artwork, it's clean and the characters each have unique differences that make it easy to follow who is whom. But I will say that it seemed to take a long time for them to get through the first plot-line. I even saw in an afterword one of the characters mention how it took so long. And even though it's set in a school with multiple female love interests for the main character, the main character is a VERY capable person when it comes to most things. Although we'll have to wait to see how he handles love-love situations. Good artwork, clean backgrounds, excellent character expressions and styles and well placed humor. Don't worry that the over-all theme might seem over used, give it a try. And while you read it, keep in mind it is a tad slow-paced at first. Myself? I find myself hooked on this group of characters now and look forward to their continuing adventures in their Magic/Machine blended world..

Well...

I believe this manga could have been one of the biggest trend-setters ever... had it been released 10 years earlier. Now it's what you call generic, in plot and even in art.
I agree with the post below mine: "its not actualy good either since you cant actualy do bad by doing the same as everyone else." It feels like a story that was written to ensure a long serialization without caring about innovation at all.

very generic

its very generic its story and its artwork dont shine in any particular way "plot twists" are not plot twists since you see them coming very early on and the characters dont brng anything new to the table
but still even if its generic and new its not actualy bad but its not actualy good either since you cant actualy do bad by doing the same as everyone else.
the main shortcomingis not giving the story a particular unique taste making it a bit bland

Not that bad but not entertaining in my opinion. You can read it if you have nothing else to do.
My principal let down for a manga is when the MC do something that should be a basic, it seems so wonderful and incredible (like when he fight along his automaton. I can understand that's not something common but seriously it's like they are saying that all master of automaton are weakling and none are hot blooded while it's clearly not the case. It's common to see people using offensive/defensive capacity to enhance their own fighting ability, like battle mage for example)

OMG SO CUTE!!!

Of all the interesting abilities that spring from the fantasy genre, the main character's partner has extreme strength. Not temporary transformation nor an alteration of physics, but simply a small girl that's abnormally strong. Oh and surprise, he fights along side his partner.... I bet you didn't see that coming.

Spoiler aside, I'll be passing on this one for something more creative. I will agree, though, that this has definitely got "cute" nailed down.

Cute But Too Shounen-ish

The puppet is really cute and all. So the artwork is actually very good. The real problem lies with the story. It is extremely generic and uninteresting. At least for me. So until that part of the manga gets better I will pass on this, as story is just as important as artwork for me.

Clunky dialog, no real world building to speak of, childish yet arrogant characters, so far a badly designed story. The only thing its got going for it is the idea of puppeteers and their machine dolls. But that's it. I'm surprised its listed as seinen because it feels like shounen. Maybe it will get better as it goes, but after this sloppy start I'm not interested in seeing what happens.
