Nearly two years ago now, when I first began proofreading Kawaii Akuma, I fell in love with a certain curly-haired villain. He first appeared, albeit briefly, in Hisashi-kun's Diary - a short comic featured on Akuma's inside cover. What can I say? He had me with; "...have you peeled it back yet?" I began practicing long-distance mind control and, last year, finally succeeded in brainwashing Madarame Hiro into creating Akuma wa Hohoemu. Or not. But I'm bloody well glad that I can finally read about the middle Naruse brother and his obsessive love for the giant softy, Hisashi.

No other character has had an affect on me like Shouta has. He really is a despicable man - selfish, manipulative and vain. Up until now, all we've seen of Shouta is through the eyes of his victim/love interest, Hisashi, and who can blame the poor thing for being a little wary of the Onii-san living next door? For years, Shouta has made it his mission in life to monitor and control every little detail of Hisashi's life as he lies in wait for the big day. The big day, of course, is Hisashi's 18th birthday, which is incidentally the legal age of consent in Japan. But things happens, as they tend to do, and in the meantime we learn a lot about Shouta and how he came to be who he is and how much he really cares.

I can't recommend this manga enough. Really. It's funny, sentimental in all the right places and true to its characters. There are plenty of opportunities where the mangaka had the opportunity to take the easy way out - to turn Shouta into a completely decent human being, to turn Hisashi into a submissive uke - but she doesn't. I can only imagine that Madarame Hiro is a character writer. Her characters really come to life and take over her stories and that makes them all the more enjoyable to read. Shouta truly is an indulgence. Give me the (probably clinically insane) Shouta over your typically over-confident seme any day. Even Hisashi, who as a side character was nothing more than a cute chibi skillfully hidden in a giant, menacing body, is appealing in all the right ways. The dynamic between these two characters is so well done that I still somehow can't concretely assign their sexual roles until I see it with my own two eyes. And trust me, that's not a bad thing.

I don't think I'll ever grow tired of Madarame Hiro. Certainly, she tests my patience at times. I mean, how long do I have to wait for a sequel? Why isn't she tied to her desk, drawing manga for my pleasure at all times of the day? Surely she doesn't need a life...Right? As of now, there's no news of a sequel, but the story won't be left as it is. In fact, let's all pray that she follows a sequel with a series dedicated to the last and very mysterious Naruse brother, Raita. My god, what I would give to see him lose his virginity to a man...

For once, Madarame-sensei's manga had no rape in it....huge relief for me (fufufufu)
The characters are really silly & cute & both truly endearing...
you could say that this manga has more fluff than smex, in comparison with her other angsty, twisted & hard to digest works but, still it makes a wonderful read!!
I definately recommend yaoi fans to read it once it gets scanlated!!!

This is hilarious. It's not perfect and you have to read carefully (and all the small comments too) to get the flow of it, but man, it's so creepy that I can't help but crack up. Hahaha! Oh, and you should read the prequels before reading this.

The first chapter got me going "WTF?!!!"
I had no clue was happening, but I kept on reading anyways. By the way, I'm pretty sure not ALL the Naruse brothers are gay. Why would you assume that? Raita may just be the only one keeping the family line going.
However, I really like Shou, he's a crazy muthaflililililicckkkkeeeeerrr!!! I like crazy semes paired up with their pure, oblivious ukes. Hisashi was pretty good! He's a heavy sleeper and totally pure and innocent. He's very lovable, in my opinion and I really like how he wants to abstain from engaging sexual activities. Love and trust before sex and naught. Good for you Hisashi!

this series is really cute, following up on the very obsessed seme and his imaginations and pursuit of the naive uke....everything is very promising and I had waited for their relationship to escalate and end with a bang but the last chapter (chapter 5) was an irrelevant story about new characters instead of the main couple, the ending of ch5 was also very obscure and hanging, towards the extra chapters the main couple comes back but with it being an extra -you can expect it was only a short story about what happened after ch4 and now I'm left thinking, what? is this the end of this manga? huh? where's the conclusion? what happened to their relationship? huh? huh? ehh?! IS THIS REALLY IT?! they must be kidding...

This really did surprise me, positively. It’s not my kind of story, because it’s a little too fluffy (I’m nore into the rape Madarame-sensei’s so eager about, because then it gets controversial and more adult). But, though comedy's not for me, what got me going was the "drama" bits.
Madarame-sensei's improving a lot, as times goes by. Shouta's the first character from the Akuma series who actually has emotional depth. He's a very complex character, just like in all her other stories besides this series. Also, I know it's sick and as twisted as any of Madarame-sensei's characters, but....I love how Shouta says his short hair and scar are a way to get Hisashi indebted to him.
It seems Hisashi had his internal thinking too even though we didn't get his version of the story - yet, I dare say.

The characters weren’t to my taste either, but the relationship was very believable, too, so it compensated for it. For the first time, Madarame-sensei actually took some time into developing it. Shouta loves Hisashi and I've got no doubts about it. It was clear as day, had a reason and years of background.

Then again, both Hisashi and Sho-chan's personalities are very feminine, on different degrees. I'm not really fond of flamboyant bishies, so... The redeeming point here for me in the area was that, for the first time, Madarame-sensei took seriousness as seriousness. She usually breaks it down with jokes and it totally ruins the touchy moment. This time she at least stuck with it till the end of the scene. The mangaka finally managed to intercalate drama and comedy! The beginning was absolutely hilarious, but then when it got serious, it got SERIOUS, not ending up in some stupid joke, like all the others.

As for the art, it’s the first time I wasn’t mesmerized by it. I don't think Sho-chan's gorgeous. In fact, out of the three brothers, he's the only one who doesn't suit my taste.
And Hisashi is...yeah, kinda cute, but it's weird that he's the uke, because he's too manly and "scary". But with short hair I like him, he looks less of a psycho (and sexier)

This story line is pretty common, but this was very, very well done.
I'm so much more into Fuuta's stereotype, and I even prefer Akiyoshi as the uke too. Even the special stories from the previous volumes had stereotypes that suited my taste better.
Still, this was the best of all the Akuma series, because is had a whole new level of professionalism.
Also, I know we're not supposed to want sexual abstinence since we can't see the smexy scenes, but...it's just so funny how Fuuta manged to turn Shouta's life into hell, hihihiih
The “no sex” thing makes the relationship more meaninful, though I hate to admit it... But it also makes Hisashi such a pain in the ass.

There are only some things I don’t understand: first, about the psycho girl, Hisashi mentioned a letter. What letter? Did I miss that?

PS: I can't wait for Rai-chan’s story!!!! He’s the one I’ve been expecting the most! Will it be with Ogawa? There are rumors...

Love it! This manga is both light and downright hilarious. There can be oddly large amounts of text, but because they're amusing thoughts and such they add to the overall craziness. The art has remained gorgeous! I enjoy this story much more than its predecessors.

I really love this series so I was so happy to learn that there was going to be another addition This time it's the story between Shouta and Hisashi. I love the art, personally it's a welcome changed from what I'm used to. I'm curious to see how this series will wrap up, I would recommend this to fellow Yaoi fans! It's a lovely series and I have totally been captivated by these boys. Madarame Sensei has become one of my all time favorite manga ka.

I have already read this story TWICE now and I still feel the same three things I've felt for this manga: A pain in my side, a twitch in my eye, and an ache in my chest. And I never regretted it!

I've never felt these things in other mangas. Especially for Akuma wa Hohoemu's categories! I LOVE THIS MANGA more than the first two mangas of the Akuma series!

There are many good things about this manga. One of them is that it doesn't require you to read the previous manga to get the jokes. They're funny as it is! The second thing about it is that it keeps your eyes busy because you'll keep reading the small-small-small-small comments tucked into each of the panels. If you don't read, you won't get the whole joke.

I look pass the fact that Hisashi is a cute chibi most of the time. And the fact I get lost in the panels.

BUT the ONE THING that makes this manga SO GOOD is HOW CREEPY SHOUTA-SAN CAN GET!! He's so creepy, you find yourself in the middle of crying and laughing! It's the thing that keeps this manga afloat in my favorites.

PS. The oneshot at the end of the volume is nice too. It hurt abit because of what happened, but you'd like it for the uke. ONLY FOR THE UKE... before he got back together with his seme again, that is.

I read this before the prequels and at first I was seriously confused. As everyone has pointed out it starts out by throwing you into the middle of multiple speech bubbles and quick little quirky back and forths that come from every which direction. Eventually I had to let the first few pages go for the time being because I just couldn't follow the conversation, but somewhere around the second chapter I really got into the routine of things and the whacky convos became easier to understand and therefore a 100x funnier. Seriously, even if you have to read it a second time--DO IT. It's almost completely crackish but I can't remember when I laughed this hard at a yaoi manga (and I use the word yaoi loosely because it's quite tame compared to his younger brother's story). Even after reading the prequel I still like this one better. It isn't perfect, by far (yeah...the ending is a bit disappointing), but it was cute and funny and overall enjoyable.
