Masterpiece? Disasterpiece?

Some people have posted that they read this manga before it was popular, which is why it irritates them that people think it's not good - what a load of rubbish. Reading something before someone else doesn't give you sole rights to everyone's opinion. People will think it's good, because the idea is really good. Yuno is a well-written character with a wicked back-story; Aru is just completely cool; Ninth is bad-ass as can be; Seventh are a decent couple and have values that are non-existent throughout the rest of the story... On the other hand, people will slate it and think it's awful, because, despite how much the 'fans' disagree, there are so many pointless actions that could have been avoided; the main character is a pathetic, miserable, contradictory, waste-of-space, heart-wrenchingly disgusting sack of sh*t who should never have been introduced to the story in the first place. Having to see his face in this story makes me sad, and makes me want to burn the pages he's on. Amano Yukiteru is worthless and doesn't have a clue as to what he's doing. He whimpers, he cries, he butchers his friends and then tells Yuno not to kill Aru? Not to kill her past self? Despite the fact that he's just slain people he's allegedly considered his 'first friends', just because of what? Siding with Yuno despite the amount of screwed up sh*t she's done to him? What a mess... and then there's the people who see all of his ridiculously absurd antics and still try to help him as if he's the only 'savior' despite the fact that everyone else has more chance of getting things done than he does? Why is this 'main character must be 'THE ONE'' trip always so over-enforced? Frankly, it's sickening. The person who created the Mirai Nikki storyline should be heralded as a genius. The person who created the character Amano Yukiteru and all subsequent interactions and causalities relating to him show shrivel in a corner in shame and not return until they've found a way to right this calamitous wrong. Read Maoh: Juvenile Remix - that's a REAL psychological series with a REAL story and REAL main character.

Mirai Nikki plays with one of media's most used device: diaries. These diaries shows the future as seen and interpreted by the owner. Scary, huh? Not enough? Let's make it that if your diary is destroyed you die too. More? OK, so let's have twelve people kill each other by using those diaries. You become God if you ever win. Still lousy? How about that psychotic girlfriend of yours isn't who you think she is.....

A mix of horror and drama. Death Note meets Gantz in this action thriller that will change your views of that small phone you carry around....

Hey! You got a message! Make sure it ain't your last!

The world is filled with good Ideas for the different mediums society presents to us.

The premise of Mirai Nikki seems ideal for a manga format, Highschool kids with powers that can predict the future from various prespectives and they have to kill everyone in order to "win" the "game".

It's a nice freshening idea but the author is to stuck to the rules imposed by the genres it follows and clearly doesn't know how to handle the potential of its own idea.

The story is meshed with the typical love story and one sided characters, predictable plot twists and the visual information is nothing more than poor. The author could explore the psychological side of each character and make it more of a mental manga like death note but no..he drives himself constantly into mindless action scenes that seem so forced from the beginning.

The main character is a cheap imitation of Shinji Ikari but with no background or charisma to be so.
The only trump of the manga is Gasai Yunno a character so insane, so unpredictable, so pragmatic that is just fun watching her make the weirdest (but best) decisions in the worst situations.

Enjoyable

The premise is ridiculous but as you get sucked into Mirai Nikki's world, you will find it to be far more enjoyable than some diary mobile phones would make it seem to be.

Yuuki is your average loser, nothing worth noting about him. Yuno on the other hand is about the incarnation of the ultimate Yandere. She seems like a nice girl but she's a complete psycho, her love goes as far as chaining Yuuki to a chair so she wouldn't lose him to someone else, even if he can't stay conscious. She's reasonably smart and powerful though, just obsessed with the protagonist to go as far as killing friends of his just to be with him or to keep him from sustaining even the slightest injuries.

Overall the story won't blow you away (so far), but it's definitely one of the more enjoyable mangas I've read lately.

This manga had me hooked from the get go. You are always guessing, your feelings for the female "protagonist" are constantly shifting between affection and dread (this is the major draw for me--trying to decide if having a hot psycho stalker is good or bad), and the male protagonist, though initially weak shows consistent signs of growth throughout. I find myself wondering what I would do in a similar situation and the characters actions usually line up with mine (which doesn't happen to often in most mangas).

You are really missing out if you don't take a chance to catch up on this marvelous work.

Ending

This series seriously deserves to be a tradegy. The ending was obviously something that the author just patched together to make it a happy ending. I think he just should've left it off around the credits; it would have given the series a better feeling overall. Overall, though, I actually enjoyed this series. I've never read a horror manga to the end before, and I was seriously impressed by this one. It's not too lovey-dovey, and the attitude that I've assumed overall with this series is a good one. This manga is the first horror manga that is one of my favorites.

with only 59ch, you can finish this roller coaster ride less than 5hours, and that's the best way to consume this manga. plot wise it is good, generally the sequence of events are understandable. however, if you like to sweat the small stuff you will not like this manga. theres a lot of unrealistic happening (within the frame of the manga's reality) such as 14 years old be very very good handling guns and knives without training, or bombers able to set up bombs so easily without anyone noticing. but regardless, the plot is good. i love the characters and the star of this series is of course the yandere yuno. she basically pull this series to a better and greater level of enjoyment through her obsession and craziness. yuki is a cry baby that spill tears in every panel but he have a certain 'shounentistic' charm with his ideal world vision and friendship declaration. the twist at the end is also surprising and make you sit up. and the ending is also fairly good.

all in all, this manga is definitely for anyone who like crazy characters and survival games. but for people who dont like unrealistic stuff (ie able to walk with severe blood loss....) give this a miss beacause theres a lot of stuff that just dont mesh.

Well I put this in the "anyone reading this forum but it goes unseen so here it is again.........Yuki's gotten cool now so don't hate him (cough)o0james0o(cough)

Ok Mirai Nikki
Normally first impressions are important and this didnt jump out at me but i wanted to carry on reading it. So i did and everyone who has read i knows that in the beginning of the story Yuki is an absolute p*ssy who cried and hid alot of the time with no self confidence. He didn't take the game seriously and his naivity puts him in serious danger and most probably would be dead if not for our next main character being Yuno.
She is the single reason why Yuki is alive. While being traumatized by an unloved childhood when she decides to protect Yuki because of her undying love for him she's serious. Willingly able to kill anyone who might be a threat to Yuki or their possibilty of getting "tied together" on the 28th of july 20XX. But she expresses her love in the strangest way by going to extremes such as
Spoiler (highlight to view)
chaining up Yuki to keep him safe.
Her quick thinking and quick doing style make her formidable.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
My point being that lots of people hate Yuki cos he was a whimp BUT in the presently most recent chapter "36" after discovering that both of his parents have been killed he snaps and kills about 4 people and as he appears in the last few pages he looks cool swearing to become the god. I believe that Yuki has now become a "man" so to speak and has left his p*ssy attitude behind him.

I don't know about you but i'm really looking forward to the next chapter and if you haven't read this or started and stopped please give it a chance because its everything i could have ever hoped for in a manga.

10/10 read it

This is a great little manga. Other posters are right that it's sort of like Death Note, in that an ordinary object is turned into a powerful weapon, and there's a lot of second-guessing, deceit, and an element of psychological thriller. But there's one thing this series has that Death Note doesn't: Mirai Nikki doesn't rely on its protagonists being impossibly smart or making insanely complicated plans that just somehow work when the plot needs them to.

Oh, and of course it's got Yuno, who is simultaneously cute, frightening beyond words, and one of the best characters of any manga series. Even if this descends into Death Note levels of mediocrity, I will keep reading to see what happens to Yuno.

PS: boomstick doesn't know what he's talking about. The date given at the beginning of each chapter makes it clear this story is taking place over the span of a few months at most, not years.

i really liked this series it had a lot of interesting/messed up character and the story and drama was really good but then kinda weird but still good towards the end. What really defines this series is of course the characters for the main lead over all i just had a lot of ups and downs with him cause he was really pathetic to me and barely had a lot of character growth. there was a lot of other crazy characters that did fit this series real good being a survival game manga. And then there's Yuno the main heroine my god she really made this series with all her craziness lol. she is the full embodiment of the genre called "yandere" and did every thing you would expect from a yandere, and more
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
She even tried to kill the main character she loved which is the classic ending to having a yandere girl after you lol
, they should definitely put her in the Japanese dictionary as the #2 definition of Yandere =Yuno
