Description
Tamiya Nika is a beautiful, outgoing, popular high-school girl. She has just the right look, just the right fashions, and is everyone's friend. What everyone at school does not know is how hard Nika works to keep up this perfect image, and what she is REALLY like at home. When not at school, Nika is a scary, sloppy, tight-fisted girl who wears glasses, an ugly sweatsuit, and has her hair pulled back into unattractive buns. She lies around playing video games and reading manga. Her attitude is bossy and cranky, and she travels far out of her way to shop where she won’t be recognized.

Disappointed

I'll be honest, I had great expectations after reading the first couple of chapters. The story was funny, the main female lead wasn't like the average shoujo lead, and the art looks really good.
However, as the story progressed it quickly started to disappoint. Examples (contains spoilers from first 5 volumes)
For me this was a manga that started really good, turned cliche and used these cliches badly. Events should have extended and handled better. All in all, still a good read but fell really short from my high expectations.

I found it really annoying that almost the next day after the female lead realizes that she is in love with the main lead, a love rival appears, starts blackmailing her to sleep with him [he knows her secret], she refuses. He then confesses his love for her. She starts thinking he's not such a bad guy [wtf, he just tried to blackmail you, literally a day ago] and starts wavering between the 2 males. (shoujo cliche used badly number 1)
My second disappointment was how the male lead back story was handled. His mother was cheating on his father from before he was born till he was 12. So 12+ years of infidelity and she only stopped when she was caught in the act. 5 years later, she shows up wanting to fix their relationship. All that is fine .
What i had a problem with, the moment the main female lead hears the story [he tells her he still sees the images clear in his head off his mother cheating] she tells him to go live with his mother o_0. (shoujo cliche used badly number 2)

It really catches me right from the beginning. The story is funny and you can "de-energize" while reading it because it's a simple work which makes you laugh.
The art could be better but it fits to the story, I think.
Don't expect deep going character or story-development and make sure, that you need not a serious but funny manga.
You sure will recognise yourself in this work here and there.
And don't fotget it's NOT Kare Kano at all and it's not supposed to be like that. It's very different, indeed. I also read and LOVED Kane Kano, but I also love Switch Girl because they are totally different stories and characters and all...

If you want a more serious, romantic type of shoujo manga that is not too cliched.....this is not the manga for you.
If you just want a manga that is lighthearted and funny, however......then yeah, I definitely recommend this.
The plot arcs and some of the characters in Switch Girl!! are actually not all that interesting; some stuff seems unnecessary.
However, the comedic stuff.....the way the heroine reacts....the things most of the characters in this manga go through.....absolutely HILARIOUS. I had never laughed so much at a shoujo to the point of tears until I read this manga. I especially love the way the author draws out her characters' expressions.....often, her characters appear to be on the verge of becoming awkward and demonic, which adds to the hilarity of the tale.
Seriously, I don't regret reading this. It makes me wonder how people perceive me when I'm out and about, versus when I'm at home....alone.....where no one can judge my own embarrassing ways. xD

I was worried that this would head into love triangle mediocrity but it veered off into another more delightful direction entirely. So good. Not a deep read but honest and memorable. I've read so many unmemorable shoujo that when I come across a diamond in the rough like this I get excited. off beat and adorable. Good stuff.

Despite the humorous tone, the romance between Nika and Arata is moving. The side characters are lovable and there aren't too many characters that are in the "love to hate" category, so it keeps the magna fun and appealing.

I liked the start. It was funny and refreshing, but then somewhere along the line it got cliche which was where i lost interest... Very typical shoujo. Go for Kare Kano instead if you want something more realistic and serious.. If you want something very light and funny then go for this.
Similar to Kare Kano, but...

...but it's funnier, and a lot less serious than Kare Kano was. With Kare Kano, there was a lot of emphasis on more realistic themes (pregnancy, abandonment, abuse, etc.) and with Switch Girl!!, it's pretty much all pure shoujo--girl trying to get guy, girl failing, and somehow everything will probably work on in the end.
The humor in this is pretty much an in-your-face-slapstick type of humor, but it is humorous and there are its very unrealistic (albeit hilarious) moments. The emotion in this is really good to, so if you're looking for a pretty light, funny story to read, this is one that would be good to explore.

Probably one of the few shoujo manga that really made me laugh. Nika is hilarious and Arata is gorgeous... I was starting to get a little bored in the later chapters (mainly about the sneaking into the school thing), but after reading chapter 55... I fell in love with this manga again. ^_^ It's a chapter to look forward to... (so sweet!).
My big problem with this series.

Nika telling Arata to forgive his mother for nearly two decades of cheating on his father is just disgusting.
The series is interesting with a funny heroine and a different situation but this is just such a moronic turn of events. Hate is a perfectly reasonable feeling to have for someone and telling someone to get over something like that defies belief.

This manga is so like me that it's no joke. I stumbled on it randomly and my jaws dropped in how much the main character and I are alike. I have an On/Off thing going on too. After all, it's a necessity to survive in society.
But moving along.. Fantastic manga. Although I've only read 3 chapters, it shows promise and the guy is very good looking with a twisted personality. But who doesn't hate bad boys?
