A mix bag of more minuses

As always, I like Hijiri Chiaki's art. I also think her story is well thought out too. But the only excuse I can make up for her work is: she lives in a different time periods and these are her reflections.

By all mean, she is a good story teller. She sucks me in, stirs my emotions, and, at the end, leaves me with bitter tastes of miscommunication, unconstructive criticism and comparison, nonchalant and hurtful frankness, and an overall of how the characters should take all these in, create self-turmoils, endure all that without any clear sympathy, empathy or empowerment. It's a backward society. It might be very reflective of Japan. And she has to make it even harder with the workaholic propaganda. Suppressive and depressing.

Tried to do a little too much

The series Heptagon is about a girl who thinks to highly of her elder sister and somewhat deviod of emotion. She gets into a car accident, goes back in time and gets a 2nd chance at life in middle school.

The idea is good but the series just tries to do too much in too little. First its a 2nd chance story, then its a beating your sister story, than its a romance story, then its a better yourself story. It tries to do too much in 1 volume and it doesn't really work but the thing is it didn't really put down the series either. It didn't stick but it didn't mess up either. So the author was able to scrape away with the problem. Really another issue is that the series is called Heptagon because 7 people made a time capsule during the middle school. But like that entire subplot is pointless. These small issues aside the series though may not have a solid grasp on what it should be and i think it does the romance pretty well. I do think the ending could've been better. How the issues were resolved could've been better but overall i think the author did a decent job.

5/10 Its fine. Decent time killer.

Heptagon had an interesting concept and brought up some mature themes such as regret, depression, adulthood, etc. but failed to execute anything well. Even the art style dramatically differed from scene to scene.

However, this is a manga with heart behind it. The author clearly was passionate about the subject matter, and it shows. Despite the disjointed and not-thought-out plot, I enjoyed the ideas behind everything. It's only five chapters, so you might as well give it a try.

My, my, I don't remember reading anything similar. It was really "josei", without screeming heroine and crazy actions... Apart from the craziness in the time warp.
It made me cry, a lot. The impact of the story was really heavy, I'm happy with the ending, althought I would like to see more of them. Great charaters don't show so often.

What a great little story, a straightforward plot that's established early, with mostly likable (and supportable) characters throughout, and (though it's fairly short, it's still not a given) it's told consistently to the end.

Yup, very good, a winner I picked up from haunting the "I'm Looking For..." forums and making sure I at least give a look to any/every thing that's recommended there biggrin

Seemed interesting at first because the protagonist was

so unusual for a main character, pitiful and void of any real identity of her own. She was portrayed a someone who idolized her sister so much that she imitated her and sought her approval constantly. She was the prototypical throwaway side-character, who is nothing without their relationship to someone greater than they.
The end was rather disappointing. It didn't seem like the character had undergonme much personal growth imho. Reminded me of why I don't read shoujo anymore.

This is sooo amazing. And i want more. It makes you think about how your decisions affect other people and how others' affect you. And you should find yourself instead of being an android that follow orders from a person. The sister is a bitch.. a huge bitch.

I had put this series off for a while because the first chapter bored me my first read through. Decided to finally finish it and thought it was pretty good. It definitely could have been a little longer and fleshed out since you are thrown into some situations and it's a bit hard to follow in some places. Maybe less hard to follow and more, "Did she change something? Did this happened already?" I think another reviewer mentioned something similar to this and I guess it wasn't too bad since they were minor details at best. But, considering that this is a dream-like story, I would have personally preferred some exposition just to keep things clear.

The ending felt like it was a page or two short. It was somewhat abupt and confusing

(did Hiraoka recognize her as the person who helped him? Was he not suspicious she didn't age? Or, alternately if the 14yr old Nana helped him, did they not keep in contact those ten years?)
but not disappointing. But the story was really interesting and there were a few parts that actually elicted an emotion from me as a reader. Overall, good read.

If you could go back and fix things that you regret would be so awesome. This story gives you a glimpse of what it could be like. I really wish it was longer but it was a very great read.

Yup, breathtaking. I really had no problem with the disjointed narration like some mentioned; I think it portrayed beautifully the fragmented nature of her lost memories and lost personality. The character grew incredibly in only short five chapters, and though quite abrupt, that growth felt really natural and inspiring. The romance, though not the focus of the story, managed to touch my heart in such a special way. So in short, I loved it. Please don't hesitate, go ahead and read it.
