Description
The story is of Kitano Seiichirou, a very kind and pure-hearted young man, with a horrifying, monstrous face. People being what they are, they think he's a terrifying delinquent, and there are plenty of chance misunderstandings (coupled with Kitano's convenient inability to understand what's happening around him) that propel him into the position of "school guardian", a.k.a. head thug on campus.

To anyone who says that the art in this manga never gets better/or is ugly (in general) wrong

the art develops really nicely - juz look at/COMPARE the art from the first few volumes with the ones vol 6+!!
totally different..T_T!
juz go on, read it.

For some reason, this manga did not bore me but instead, is amusing and kept my attention throughout - even though it does not hav a main plot !! O_O - unbelievable.

i do not think that Angel Densetsu is perfect but it is definitely worthy of attention.
the fights are fun, fast and =3 fun. There are NO wusy main characters or the one-sided "waaah protect me!" thing. I also came to LOVE the main characters >w<!! Takehisa is my personal favourite!! <3
Overall:
Character Development (8/10)
Takehisa + Ikuno + Ryoko(slight) stand as proof of char development,
Relationship development (8/10)
i think the slow progression is understandable + much more comfortable considering Kitano and Ryoko's personality + shounen aspect (its not shoujo, ppl ^w^ i love it),
Character history (7/10)
i wan't to know Takehisa's family - he IS an important char. <~ we know Ikuno's family (kindof) so why not him? (i'm biased concerning this bigrazz ) still...i am not entirely content with it.
Art [past volume 6] (9/10),
Action (9/10)
[has numerous fights/conflicts in every volume. And all of them are fun],
Humour (7/10)
am i too serious?? O_o? everyone is saying here that they laugh their asses off...i love laughing n stuff...and in Angel Densetsu, i laughed a lot but not throughout the manga - mayb its cause i hav a slightly different taste in humour? Or cause the sympathy i sometimes feel towards Kitano/Kitano family overweigh the fun stuff xD? Or? biggrin
Yagi Norihiro manages to balance and accomplish all with ease and brilliance within this manga. The lack of a main plot does not make it any less entertaining either - due to fights, romance, yea..

Angel Densetsu is truly worth a read

This manga made me laugh so many times. I never laughed as much from a manga as this. I really avoided it cuz of that the main character looks like crap -_-' well people kept recommending it to me so I was like, what the hell alright. Just kept me going on reading. Great manga to read. Definately recommend.

one of the few that had me laughing uncontrollably, and loudly. nothing special about it that isn't done in other series, but the author just did it so dam good, the right charachters, the total understanding of it being unrealistic and repetative didn't even matter, this is a TOP TEN worthy manga, can't say it's the best, but it's close enough to lose sleep over <_<

I've held of from this series for almost a year or two now and wow do I have to tell ya that doing that. This series may not have the cleanest artwork, it may not have the most dramatic storylines, it might not even be that deep or emotionally supercharged but the characters are just so unbelieveably well crafted.

After reading Claymore, I really see that the author has been writing with rounded characters in mind for some time. Truly, if Claymore is the top of its class in its medevil-goth style, then this manga surely is one of the best in its own genre. Here is a manga actually funny without the fanservice, and does so quite well I might add. Overall I have come to think as the artwork quite suiting to the manga, although it takes time to get used to. A definite 10 out of 10.

A very good manga! Recommended indeed!

It was a very good and light-hearted manga. The gag, which ran for over fifteen volumes, despite being overused, never got old, and was still very funny until the end. For me though, what was more funnier and enjoyable was the interaction of all the characters between each other, and how their chemistry mixed well with each other. The art, which was really, really bad at first, yet understandably so, as is the case for almost every other manga, got better and better until it got to the point where it was as good as Claymore's drawing. The characters felt more realistic, and you can clearly relate to their actions and emotions. If you actually went back and read the first chapter right after finishing the whole manga, you'll find the main character to be not scary at all, in comparison to his later image. And the ending... I think, was very satisfactory. Quite good, actually. The fact is, stories like this don't actually need any closure. Life goes on for this people these people, and situations such as those already presented will never cease happening. I really found inspiration from Yagi's final notes, how we shouldn't look at the manga as a manga called Angel Densetsu, but rather look into a world where there are silly people doing silly things. Probably another important aspect of this manga is its moral lesson, how you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but in a more broader sense of view.

Anyway, this manga is indeed a very good read, and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Looking past the initial artwork...

Think there's better out there? Who're you trying to kid? Look, let's not fool ourselves here, the artwork is sub par. But what gives? I mean, when I get complete and utter satisfaction from both its comedy (unique and various types of humor, by the way) and heartwarming moments (very touching, really makes you smile), I couldn't care less for the rest.

The story starts out with a punch, relying on the same concept over and over again to keep things funny and entertaining (Kitano's face getting himself in ridiculous situations). Just when this starts getting somewhat repetitive, the plotline starts unveiling and the main characters start developing some nice chemistry with each other. I especially enjoyed Takehisa and Ikuno's side comments whenever they were present in the later volumes. They are simply hilarious, made me laugh the whole way.

The one thing that stands out in Angel Densetsu is its main cast of characters. They are funny, likeable and entertaining. They are all quite eccentric in different ways, but they complement each other well. And most of all, they all evolve throughout the story: some open up emotionally, some develop feelings for each other, some learn to accept differences, and all of them learn something new from being together. These seemingly mundane day-to-day occurrences really endeared me to the characters, making me feel like I was there with them the whole way, watching them grow as human beings.

While reading the manga, I originally pegged it as a 9/10 because it doesn't have the most complex of plots nor the most beautiful of artworks, but after finishing it, I simply have to give it a 10. Someone said it before, you really won't find a more enjoyable and satisfying manga out there, and that includes its fantastic ending.

Now it's fully scanlated, so I don't see why anyone would deprive themselves of this classic manga. If you're still delaying it, listen to me: GO READ ANGEL DENSETSU RIGHT NOW!! (oh and did I mention, same mangaka as Claymore!! although very different in nature)

Angel Densetsu is one of the mangas in which you can really see the evolution of their creator. Starting with the rought Chapter1 (originally a oneshot), the art continous to improve, while the humor and story dont decay.

Also, rare for a comedy manga, the ending gives a really nice sense of conclusion.

The first chapter might be hard to read for some.
As the art is really bad.
But it gets better really quick, and I even enjoy it after 1 or 2 volumes.

The story is really great, it might seem to repeat itself sometime, but it the plot is really moving forward.

It is incredibly funny. And now, that the manga is completly scanlated, you can enjoy it to it's fullest the story and it's ending !
Go for it !

Now that it is all done I feel a void in my heart (hey it rhymes) but seriously, this was one of my all time classic, top 5 favorite and so on. I started reading it after m-s had reached the final volume and until they finished it (it took some time but it well wothed the wait) I reread it 3 times. It always made me laugh. It a very innosent-kind funny sweet story about appearances being deceiving as well but mostly about a sunny town with silly characters and enjoyable moments... I recommend it to everyone and while the 10 of my rating is a personal opinion (its about how much I enjoyed it not about the rating while considering story, char, art etc - that I put about 9) I think it's worth a try...
