Description
Tohru Honda, an orphaned high-school girl, is taken in by the wealthy Shigure Sohma when he realizes she has nowhere else to go. However, the Sohma family shares a secret, and it isn't long before Tohru discovers that there's a reason why her classmates, Yuki and Kyo Sohma, never let girls get near them, and never talk about their lives before they lived with Shigure. And before she knows it, Tohru has become so tangled up in the lives of each member of the Sohma family that she couldn't leave even if she wanted to.

As she learns more and more about the truth of the Sohma family and the nature of their secrets, she desperately searches for a way that she can save them. But what can one girl do, especially when it seems that she may have been part of someone's plan all along . . .

Fruits Basket received the 2001 Kodansha Manga Award in the shoujo manga category and the "Best Manga" award at the 2007 American Anime Awards.

One of the best shoujo which I read. A great and complicated history between Tohru and Soma's Family. Indeed, the relationship : Tohru/Kyo is very beautiful and interesting.
Unfortuntally it will be soon finished.

this book is great!! i mean, you do have 2 w8 a while 4 the volumes 2 be published and in the store...but it is awesome i can't stop readin them and they r really funny i have read the last 14 vol like 4 times!!!! u find out new things and remember wat u 4got. it kinda makes a stop and then it is kinda borin but i think it is finally startin 2 progress again, and it is now kinda obvious who tohru is gonna end up w/ but still it leaves me in suspense cuz u don't really kno wat is gonna happen next and how they'll confess their love 4 one another I kno it sounds girly and mushy, but it is a lsoreally funny, and in my opinion, exciting as u watch the characters and thear personalities and pasts unfurl!! IS IS REALLY GOOD!!!!!

i think this is one of the best manga i've read. in the beginning, if looks like it doesn't have a very good story line, but the more you get into it, everything connects. it's very well thought out. ^^

If you're not reading this, you're definitely missing out.

Amazing storyline if you have the patience to keep reading, and believe me, it's definitely worth it. Humour at its best in the earlier chapters. and the story gets much, much more complex later on.

Character development is absolutely fantastic. All the characters are fun and loving. Give some time for yourself to sink into their characters, and you won't regret it. Takaya Natsuki is no exception.

Pick it up and you'll have the best time reading it!

The art is great. It gets better along the way. I don't really complain about art because each artist have their unique style.

This manga had a great start but then after 10 volumes (halfway) the story doesn't seem to go anywhere and the plot is really simple and obvious. I don't this manga to those who enjoy better plot developments because this manga is popular in concept of the art.

This is definitely by far the best manga I read. At first I was into the whole fantasy and adventure/fighting but when I read Furuba, it brought out a whole new view of life for me. I really learned a lot from reading Takaya's manga because I could relate a ton of things to the characters and I was able to improve how I lived also. Even if the story turns a different curve in a few volumes and may be boring, I recommend this who's looking for something a little twist.

Can't judge a book by its cover

My first impression from the first few chapters was that it's going to be another happy-go-go manga but after reading more, I discovered there was more to it: Angst, despair, hopelessness. However, the plot does tend to drag itself out a lot so there are some dull moments.
The art isn't bad but I can't honestly say that I love the style.

Slow moving but still good

The author isn't running out of ideas, it's just a slow moving story. This manga has always progressed at a snail's pace which can be frustrating at times, but I'm going to continue to read. If the author wanted to continue the manga for as long as the money held out she wouldn't have created a large twist that puts such a definite end-time to the story, which is approaching very soon.

Starts beautifully but it becomes a plotless sugarcoated manga. The author noticed this sells and she's keeping it running even if she herself is running out of ideas. Boring lately. Such a waste.
