You don't get into this series to read anything innovative or different. It's your typical blend of supernatural comedy. The ecchi is a little too conveniently (sometimes annoyingly placed), some of the tangent stories causes more eye rolls than entertainment; howbeit the main plot is interesting enough to grab my interest.

I have to agree with loosecannon504, im not gonna write a whole essay about it, but honestly, what he/she said was an opinion, the same why you're saying why you like this, is an opinion. him/her typing all that can give some people an insight of what to expect, especially if they want an honest opinion before reading this manga. if they still feel like they want to read it, go ahead.

i didnt enjoy the manga, but i still finished reading.. just out of curiousity(don't tell me the "if you dont like it, dont read it" bullsh*t..). I still didnt feel it, but I love the art though, pretty smile

to everyone who is saying loosecannon504's comment is wrong, or that they doesn't know what they're saying, guess what? IT'S JUST AN OPINION. u all get so angry over 1 person's opinion that it makes u all look like stupid blind raging fanboys/fangirls who tear apart and bash any one's opinion about it that's not praising the manga. it may not be as bad as loosecannon504 says it is, but it definitely isn't as good as most people says it is either. also @Takagi Kitsutori: u can have tons of character development in just 10 volumes. bitter virgin and masturbation master kurosawa had tons of it and they were only 4 volumes long. so it just goes to show that the person who wrote rosario+vampire isn't that good in that department.

basically the way every thing's been dumbed down lately, it's not surprising to see that so many people like this. to tell u the truth, i don't think this story is good either. i'm not gonna type a huge essay about it, but i will say that the writing is very subpar. this story is actually like the japanese version of "tarot witch of the black rose" (good art and character designs, bad every thing else) so i'm giving this a 3 cuz the art seems to be the only thing the mangaka actually put some effort into

Honestly, this isn't the best series but what do you expect from a harem, The girls are insanely cute and the art is amazing. loosecannon504 really is a loose cannon and wrote a whole essay on the topic. But to be honest no one went into rosario vampire expecting INSANELY DEEP STORY. The story is getting a lot deeper now, but the thing is people went in looking for a light comedy. I'd say the anime captures that essence a lot better than the manga. Definitely read this if your looking a an ecchi manga with amazing art, if your looking for insanely deep story and character developement, look elsewhere. However I do have to say, when Tsukune finally gets some fighting ability it was pretty bad ass.

The rage this series is generating is quite funny.

Basically: It's a really dumb story. loosecannon504's rant covers things nicely.

I haven't finished it yet - haven't decided if I will or not. But yes, it's all kinds of bad. The author clearly doesn't care about anything making sense to the point where it gets a bit painful. Seriously, you can't just ignore that one character tried to rape another once the chapter's over. That's really awkward.

If you're going to start this, turn off your brain as much as possible, and don't read too much at a time. It's kinda fun sometimes, but the brain-numbing stupidity, poor-to-nonexistent plot, and vapid characters are ... well - may be a problem depending on your tolerance for that sort of thing.

ok people. I am tired of reading all of your negative comments espically the ones that say it lacks "character development" or it gets "repetitive". S*^t what series doesn't get repetitive after a while. loosecannon504 your comment made me even angrier than what i already was today. so let me explain a few things to all of you critical IDIOTS out there.

FIRST: IF THE MANGAKA WANTS TO PORTRAY HIS CHARACTERS IN A CERTAIN WAY, THEN LET HIM. THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN SAY OR DO THAT CAN CHANGE THE CREATORS MIND. THE CHARACTERS ARE THE WAY THEY ARE FOR A REASON. PERSEPTION VARIES FROM PERSON TO PERSON. SO SAYING THAT THE CAHRACTERS AREN'T ACTING LIKE THE MONSTER THEY REALLY ARE WELL THATS TOO BAD. WE CAN'T HAVE MOKA START ACTING LIKE COUNT DRACULA BECAUSE WE'D LOSE OUR PRIMARY FEMALE LEAD. KURUMU CAN'T GO STEALING THE LIFE FORCE FROM OTHER PEOPLE BECAUSE SHE'S ALREADY SWORN NOT TO USE HER POWERS TO WIN TSUKUNE AND BECAUSE SHE'D BE AN ANTAGONIST(sorry if my spelling is off).

SECOND: HOW MUCH CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT DO YOU EXPECT IN TEN VOLUMES OF MANGA?! THE FIRST SERIES SETS THE STAGE FOR SEASON 2 AND THAT'S WHERE THE REAL CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT BEGINS. ALTHOUGH TSUKUNE AND MOKA STILL HAVEN'T KISSED YET THE BOND BETWEEN THEM CONTINUES TO GROW STRONGER. AS FOR THE OTHER GIRLS THEY GET TO BE IN LIMELIGHT NOW STARTING MAINLY WITH MOKA'S SISTER, THEN KURUMU, THEN MIZORE GETS A WHOLE LOT OF ATTENTION, THEN TSUKUNE, AND THEN YUKARI. RUBI GETS SOME HERE AND THERE BUT YOU NEED TO GIVE THEM TIME.

THIRD: COMMON SENSE? YOU PEOPLE REALLY EXPECT A MANGA TO HAVE COMMON SENSE?! WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON IN YOUR HEAD IF YOU'RE GOING TO SAY THAT LACKS COMMON SENCEconfused?! HERE'S A LITTLE NEWSFLASH FOR YOU IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW. ROSARIO+VAMPIRE IS A WORK OF........F-I-C-T-I-O-N! WHAT DOES THAT SPELL? FICTION! FANTASY! NEED I SAY MORE? OH AND IF YOU REALLY WANT A STORY WITH PLOTHOLES CHECK OUT MY PERSONAL FAVORITE RANMA 1/2.

THIRD: WAIT DO I HAVE A THIRD THING?.....................................OH YEAH THE PRIDICTABILITY OF ROSARIO IS PART OF WHAT MAKES IT SO GREAT. I KNOW THAT EVERYONE'S ENTITLED TO THEIR OWN OPINION BUT IT JUST REALLY MAKES ME ANGRY WHEN I READ NEGATIVE COMMENTS LIKE SOME OF THE ONES POSTED HERE. ROSARIO+VAMPIRE IS A CROSS BETWEEN A REGULAR HAREM AND A MAGICAL GIRLFRIEND. ALSO I KNOW THAT TSUKUNE IS WEAK, AND KIND OF BORING, AND ALMOST EVERYTHING THAT EVERYONE HERE HAS SAID ABOUT HIM BUT HE'S THE MAIN CHARACTER OF A SHOUNEN SERIES WHAT DO YOU EXPECT?! AND BESIDES WE ALL KNOW THAT TSUKUNE WERE REAL HE WOULD HAVE DIED BEFORE MOKA EVEN GOT A CHANCE TO INTRODUCE HERSELF.

now i'd like to say i'm sorry if what i wrote offended anyone or anything. but you people cant be so critical about this series. try to find at least two good things about it before you post a negative comment please and i mean two things other than the artwork and fanservice.

anyways i love this series. its not THE BEST harem that i've ever read but its pretty good and fyi i didn't turn off my brain and say "look at all the pretty pictures" while i was reading it. as a guy i didn't mind the fanservice but in reality it really doesn't do anything for me anyways. i did think that the ways that tsukune pulled of mokas rosario were completly pulled out of the ass though. fiction or not just happening to brush against it in a pinch kind of bugged me. art work was much better in the later volumes and even though the whole friendship thing is overplayed you really cant do a thing about it since thats what most shounen series are centered around. plot really picked up in the third volume. overall i give it about a 9

Truthfully, the beginning was plain horrid. It felt like filler... in a manga...? I guess it helped with some character development, but it was a little too much to me.

Once the plot picks up, it becomes an extremely good read. If the beginning is un-appealing to you, try to stick it out and get to the plot-line. It is definitely worth it!

In my opinion this is actually a very good manga...the begging is rather dull and the art work is a bit low but if you keep reading the story turns in a really good one and the art gets better and better!
I suggest reading this manga plus the season 2! \/ ^_^

I though it was a pretty good manga. A lot of what happens is repetitive so its pretty easy to guess whats going to happen next. It lacks the romance I was expecting it to have. Hopefully season 2 improves.

*note*: I have only read up to Ch 5, so the review stems from only those chapters, and hence I have not bothered with a numerical rating, since I think it'd be unfair to (somewhat) arbitrarily assign a number rating to something I'm not completely familiar with.

My interest in this series came from two things: 1. the series is complete, and 2. I'd just finished reading 'Dance in the Vampire Bund' (which I highly recommend) and thought vampires were totally cool.

As others have stated, there's not a whole lot to like aside from the artwork. The mangaka vilifies all males aside from the moronic main character (typical of most titles in the harem genre). This guy in particular has 0 redeeming qualities, even less so than Keichi from 'Ah! My Goddess' and way less than Minato from 'Sekirei'. There's a fair amount of fanservice, but far less than you'd find in the aforementioned Sekirei. Most of the characters are cute, but a bit young, so the fanservice does nothing for me in particular. The only character I seem to like is the adorable young witch. Cute little kids are my weak point (since I have one of my own ^_^).

Simply put, this work does not stand out in any of the genres it is associate with. If you're looking for lulz, a plot, compelling characters, and fanservice, I'd recommend you look elsewhere. Honestly, I don't plan on finishing this series. You're better off looking to another series, but if you MUST read one that's complete, I s'pose you could have a gander at this one.
