I was soo excited about a new series like everyone here =) ... with the first series I actually jumped a couple of times while reading it when I was excited but also tensed =P ... but I was very disappointed with Shin Tennis no Oujisama ... it started well but then I got really confused with the story ... it follows someone and then the next chapter it's someone else! WTH! ... I won't give a 1 though because I still like reading it ... don't really know the reason though :/

It's a good idea for a continuation but is poorly done. It now just seems to be the POT again just more silly.

Was excited for the follow up but after the initial match ups, this series falls off a cliff storywise. Too contrived & forced to point of absurdity except it's not funny. If there isn't going to be character development, the non-stop action should be exciting; but unfortunately, no. Little/no suspense, never mind context. Sad to see the gutting & killing of a what was a better series. Ah, well. On to the next on!

It would seem as if a lot of people don't like this sequel but I have to say that I love it...before it was mostly about seigaku members but now that they are going up against high schoolers it's more about other middle schoolers too... Like all the other team members that were in the prequel... I love their teamwork.. It's a very nice readi have to say.. I'm totally addicted

At first, I was pretty excited about a continuation. Though, to be perfectly honest, I was already quite satisfied with the ending of PoT. SPoT just broke my expectations (Not in a good way...). The battles are short, or, should I say, are not elaborated upon. Up to the latest chapter (currently 65), I don't know if I'll be able to continue. There is no explanation as to how middle schoolers are suddenly so exponentially strong, and able to suddenly pull out potential and strength that no one could have seen....
Nothing was explained, it was literally 2 pagers / middle schooler / match...

I'm simply at a loss as to how people rated this a 10. Hell, even some of the comments of other reviewers make me wonder if they're delusional or simply stupid.

- This series has no amazing battles. Each one lasts a split second without anything truly gained or lost.

- This series has no character development. I waded through 60 chapters of this !@#$ and not once did I see a single person change. Sure there was power creep beyond belief but not anything deeper. There couldn't have been as characters are cycled in for one chapter and then disappear the next.

- This series has no suspense. Suspense requires a connection to what you're reading, and there is no connection to be made. Not to the soon-to-be forgotten characters, to the inhuman struggles of a middle-school tennis player who can't hit 15 balls at once, nor to a plot that holds no sense of structure. You get 2 pages of fluff where the players are introduced with trash talk about their victory, 3 pages to show the match, and then a repeat to finish off the chapter.

- This series isn't like the original. The original starts off slow as it introduces the characters, and then you see as the 7 members of Saigaku compete against other teams. This one doesn't follow any character specifically; it takes all the team members from the original and has them randomly compete against a barrage of new opponents whom, like I said earlier, disappear into oblivion after their split second battle.

PS: A rank of 10 means perfection where you wonder where this series was all your life. Ok, maybe not that extreme but it's easily one of the best you've ever read. If it were possible, my rating would be negative because I want the time wasted on this series back.

Examples of 10's: Full Metal Alchemist, Berserk, Slam Dunk, Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind, etc.

doesn't follow the anime

this doesn't follow the same storyline- he didn't do the US Open in the manga.

this story is very entertaining. i'm enjoying the shifts in dynamics among familiar characters and the introduction of new faces. the tennis itself is entertaining but also the shounen aspect of the story since it's so wild. nobody should expect reality-based shounen. i mean, in fighting stories the level of ridiculous reaches gargantuan proportions.

@liquidsin-

You're entitled to your opinion but name calling is just as ridiculous as you seem to find the folks who don't share your views. Grow up. I like this series because my feelings are invested in the characters. I gave it a ten to offset radical scores like your own. There are plenty worse series. Plenty.

The tennis moves and training methods are absurd, BUT I find reading this manga is still interesting. After reading the latest chapter I have the feeling of wanting more. The story and character development must be working for me to want more releases. I play tennis competitively and I acknowledge that this manga GREATLY exaggerates tennis, but that is keeping the story interesting and entertaining for me.

Echizen already competed in the USA open but he seem pretty weak in this manga or taken a step back.
Why are there many players better than him just because they are in high school? Then they should be pros or play in a industry team!! Ridiculous
I'm greatly disappointed seeing as I'm a huge huge fan of POT.

The start is pretty good but I throughout the 40 chapters , there is nothing that makes you want more. I was expecting more from this series or perhaps the author is making it better later.
