Slow...

Slow Romance should really be added to this because even tho there are confessions early on, nothing happens. Pace is really slow, one of the character can't seem to move on, which basically all revolves around that.

I can't bear to read it.

Slow pace, awkward drawing style, not really something I'd consider a "light read". I've read Lament of the Lamb and I pretty much hated it; it just made me sad -- and not the sad you get from reading manga in the normal tragedy genre, just like a depressing sad that is elevated from her dreary artistic style, this has the same vibe. Others may say to take a break from "robot-samurai and psychological thrillers" I say link to them please. This is a definite niche-style manga; it's a hit or miss.

Kei Toume Rocks indeed! smile

She's a knack for making a simple and moving drama without the usual accompaniment of melodrama =P

On this, I would have to disagree. Hitsuji no Uta was the embodiment of melodrama, but I still loved it. I'm hoping that this series doesn't devolve into a mess of melodrama however.

I'm beginning to wonder if there's anything Toume can't do...

Just like the majority of her other works, Yesterday wo Utatte is another unique gem powered by a compelling plot and impressive character development. Taking a break from robot-samurai and psychological thrillers and switching to something realistic is something I normally wouldn't expect to succeed, but Toume always seems to prevail at what she attempts. Excellent pacing, intricate characters, and her adept art style leaves me once again with very little, if anything, to complain about.

Unusual from her other works, but such an unexpected gem

The atmosphere of the story is very... nice. Unique I should say.

There's many layers to the story and it unfold pretty smoothly. Characters development also is good.

Still, I feel the pace of the manga is a bit slow. End volume two already and it's not far along as I would like. Minus one point for that.

I do looking forward to future releases!

Although it's technically young man, it reads more like a realistic girl. Readers of her other works- Hitsuji no Uta, Luno, Kurogane- will enjoy her unique style.

this manga is one of the best i've ever read...
although it has this intricate web of relationships, it still is very realistic.
it's more of drawn up novel than a simple manga.
the graphics are superb. their this sort of fluidity in the pen lines and evrything seems so harmonious.
kei toume rocks!
