i love this

Okay so I understand that this manga is not horribly popular. In my opinion the artwork is amazing and Miwa Shirow is a really talented mangaka. Its the only seinen or mature manga that is interesting to me. despite the reviews below I think that the story does a good job of explaining the pasts of the main four characters, and the lack of detail can be annoying but its just to good of a story to quit because of that. Honestly I think the artwork is really good and reminds me of the art in D. Gray man.
Sometimes I feel that the mangaka is rushed because they seem to like to pay attention to detail, this is Miwa Shirow's first manga and the pictures that you can see that he tried in are absolutly stunning.
Its not all bullets and carnage either, there are definent moments of comedy. Nill is probably the cutest anime girl ever, and Haine and Naoto's relationship is so funny. Plus Badou is just overall a clutsy and amusing guy lol and the situations he gets himself into... I personally wish that this were a lot more popular. Its a whole lot more interesting than Naruto or Bleach(not that I dont like those) At first I was afraid to read it(afraid of the gore and such) but I forced myself too and it is now my current obsession. Maybe they should hire more artists because it would probably make Shirow Miwa's job a whole lot easier. Overall a nine/ten due to excellent character designs, interesting plot, a balance between dark action and humor. I love this and recommend it to anyone who loves a good manga series <3

I completely agree with "Elice" on this one. This is a seinen manga afterall, and with a solid plot and characters as this one has the least it should get is better than average.
And to that other reviewer; if you can't understand the plot, maybe it's because you're focusing too much on the lack of "background art"? Instead of it. Furthermore I don't think you should judge the art on this one too suddenly, like every other mangaka Miwa's work improves as it progresses and the detail of the characters and actions themselves are superb.

PS. Anyone heard anything about the release of OVAs 3-4 or a movie of some kind? I've heard many rumors and was wondering if anyone could give me any confirmation. I watched the first two OVAs, and highly recommend them. Even if you've read this manga or not. ^^

Terrific Work, contrary to the reviews below

This series is terrific. The reviews below have been pretty bad, but I suggest that you try it out for yourself before taking their word for it. It is true that this series is 'lacking in detail'. But it isn't distracting. Miwa Shirow doesn't draw in the individual cracks on each individual brick. The backgrounds aren't epic landscapes full of billowing trees or majestic skyscrapers, either. However, the art style is very refined and tastefully subtle.

As for the storyline being "random" or "confusing"? Yeah, the story isn't this straight line from A to B to C to D. Instead, it introduces some of the characters first by introducing their perspectives. Then, it goes into the main central arc. Every "random" event ties together for a more wholesome understanding. There is a reason why the genre is labeled mature. I'm not trying to completely throw down what the poorer reviewers have said; instead, I'm simply trying to say that there is a reason why this series has scored so well on the ratings.
Try it out. I was put off by the title itself. But after the first 5 chapters I was hooked, and this has quickly become my favorite title right now. :]

Really bad

This manga is really bad and I mean it. I try, I really try to read this but it's impossible to make something out of this.

First of is the horrible lack of detail in this manga. There are huge white spaces all over the manga, it's like the mangaka never finished drawing it. A white space can literary cover 50% of a page followed by more white spaces in the next one. The ones with pictures has in 95% of the cases no background whatsoever, and some just a single text bubble with nothing else.
It's like someone forgot to tell the mangaka that you have to actually draw something to make it a manga, it's that bad.

The story is also horrible as i've yet to figure out whats going on after 36 chapters. I've read 300+ manga so weird story lines are no stranger to me but I just can't understand anything in this. Something about experiments and revenge is all I get out of this. The rest is comprised of random fights and random dialog.

The thing that leaves a bitter taste in my mouth is the feeling that this could actually turn out great if the mangaka went through the trouble and actually drew enough, you know, pictures in this manga. And had a writer other than a lazy bum on crack.

The story is very intersting, I really like the cast.
Heine looks like Cloud sometimes.... They even have the same seiyuu......

I like the style, but they really need to hire more artists, the background is absolutely lacking, to the point that you bearly see one after 3~4 pages sometimes.

For those somewhat disappointed

If you have read the raws, then you are in for a likelyhood of disappointment. The artwork isn't the best, don't get me wrong I like it far better than some manga say for Gauken Alice, however not the greatest. The actual volumes that can be purchased has a much more refined look of artwork as well clearer dialogue. In which for those who are at loss for words of why the background isn't as detailed I suggest buying the actually volumes.

But Dogs: Bullets and Carnage is one of my favorite series still. I appreciate the fact that the author didn't introduce the background stories the first thing but held off to give hints and finally to explain most of it later on, the purpose was because most of the plot of Dogs centers around their background stories, letting us know from the get go would have ruined the story, and besides I don't need to know every detail of their background.

Anyways, my little post of redeeming what as been said may not be worth anything to some but its one of the very few manga I still look forward to seeing every month.

dissapointed

i really liked Dogs and even hardcore twins....but carnage and blood is just a miss for me......

first off, the art is pretty bad.....not so much the character design or the drawing as a whole, but the fact that it's completely lacks detail....you see huuge white spaces all over the place, it's like the artist wasn't even finish drawing the manga

and i think the plot isn't executed very well...and neither is the story telling, which i thought was done very well in the previous Dogs, overall i really just dont know what happened here, it's like the author figured he'd add more random action scenes and focus less on the actual dialogue ....

i'm highly dissapointed

Don't listen to wait321

Wait321 obviously doesn't know what he's talking about it.

It might not be the best, but it at least deserves some credit. In my opinion, you're just trying to criticize a series that had pretty solid scores 'till now to look 'special' or whatever. @_@

amateurish

This series is pretty bad. I've read to 20+ and the setting of the story and background of the characters are still not established. It's just a parade of random fights. I don't know why the characters are fighting. I don't know how powerful the characters are. I don't even know where they're fighting. There's no point of reference!

In terms of artwork, the author must be really lazy. About 40% of every page is just empty space. There's no background for most of the panels. Some panels are even blank with one dialog bubble inside. I feel like I'm looking at a rough draft.

I also don't think this manga should even be classified as Seinen. Maybe something will happen later, but, right now, it's just a parade of pointless fights with almost no storytelling. Overall, it seems like an amateurish work. I'd recommend some other Seinen manga.
