a classic story with impeccable execution

this manga, if just described to you sound like run-of-the-mill good vs evil and light vs darkness kind of manga, with the usual happy go lucky girl and the cool and mysterious guy - and this is right, but in a way it is highly disservice to think of this manga as 'just' this. because the execution in creating a classic tale as this is done perfectly - and it makes you delve into the world seamlessly and you will be enthralled by the charming characters you meet.

i had held on from reading this manga because i held deep prejudice against the cute bumbling girl and cool guy pairing, and i now im stand corrected. it doesnt matter if the character profile is an unimaginative pairing, but its the way they interact with each other and the world that is important. bumbling doesn't mean an irritating girl, being cool and quite doesn't make the character an unpleasant emo. this manga show me that any type of character, as long as handled carefully, can be lovable and charming.

i recommend this to any manga lover. eventhough im not a shoujo reader, this grab me from beginning to the end and i hope others can also experience the enthralling world of kanata kara.

There were some aspects of this manga that I really really loved--such as the idea that the girl actually has to learn the language when she gets sent to another world. (this small but important aspect is often ignored in other manga of the same genre&setting)

However, the story felt a bit too cheesy and cliche for me, especially when it came to the villains... The girl, while it is totally understandable that she would be lost and lonely, and would thus need a friend/companion... I just couldn't take her journey with the dude as seriously because I've seen the same thing happen so many other times.

Overall, though, this manga is nice and comes to a definite conclusion--thank god. I can see a happy ending for the both of them, and I truly appreciate that! (who doesn't love a happy ending?!) This manga is not among the top of my list, but I'm still glad to have read it.

This manga is AWESOME. For real.

Some may say this story is typical or cliched, but the storytelling itself is superb. There's character development and some awesome themes - just because they're ones that have been explored by other authors doesn't mean that a story can't have the same ones. In fact, if the author brings a deeper insight into it, that's what makes a story really stand out. What kept the story really going was its terrific plot. Some may call it typical, but it is how the author weaves the story out for the reader that captures their attention and interest. Though the art or the predicted results are also important elements in a story, what makes a story worth reading is through the way it is told. Again, these are opinions from different people and it may not be to everyone's liking - but why not give it a try?

SUPRISINGLY GREAT!

When I see the cover, I think I will just read this for time waster. BUT! It's really a great story, great romance, and surprisingly have a very interesting plot. It's seems real, when noriko have to learn their language first (most of fantasy story have only ONE language, somehow the hero just be able to speak as others), and then Izark was not a super hero who able to do everything (I like how he become weak sometimes and feels all burdened by noriko). And I also like noriko character, she is not an annoying crybaby girl. indeed she a crybaby, but she always do her best and thinking positive. These two character combination and those awesome plot really addictive!

Not worth it

Dialogue, plot, and characterization is flat and oversimplified. I honestly thought this would, at the very least, be a simple pleasure since at the beginning the heroine does not have powers and still manages to be useful, but my expectation that this would continue was shattered. ultimately the conflicts are boring and the solutions are cliche. I mean, solving everything with empathy and tears for the enemy is a cliche.

Words can't express how much I love this manga! I can't believe I never wrote a review about Kanata Kara when I've read it almost 10 times! .First of all, its so timeless, for a manga that is a bit old, the art is beautiful, and the females, especially Noriko, is not overly exaggerated. Secondly, the plot is straight forward, I like the fact that "realness" was added to this manga by the fact that she had to learn their language. Other mangas where characters go back in time, tend to automatically make their mains know the language of where ever they were transported to, which makes no sense. Thirdly, personality means a lot to me when I'm reading manga, and throughout the whole manga, both of the main's personalities were enjoyable. Noriko was neither annoying or whinny and Izark showed that he wasn't just a handsome face who can pretty much do anything, they had their flaws, but thats what made the manga so magnificent! I can read this manga anytime and anywhere, this truly holds a place in my heart. This deserves a 10, I would recommend this manga to anyone

This was a rather disappointing series for me, I must say. It was recommended highly to me and, seeing all of the wonderful reviews, I decided to read this. I expected something pretty incredible. Although I do not like old-fashioned art that much, I read it anyway. This is a pretty basic shoujo for me. I'm not sure if those who reviewed talking about how 'original' it is really read a lot of shoujo, but to me, this was pretty normal, basic stuff.

Sometimes, I love reading the very basic shoujo cliches. I think the fact I didn't like this art very much played a factor for me. I mean, I've read manga where their only redeeming point is the artwork. I've read so much shoujo that a lot of it is pretty obvious when it comes to cliches. Heck, I kid you not, I even wrote a school paper on shoujo cliches. This manga just didn't have enough lure for me to really enjoy it. As FeyPhantom said, I believe it could be called 'solid.'

Sadly, it wasn't something I could really enjoy.

The female lead is wimpy, weak, and is always crying. She is a Mary Sue ('perfect') character who has everything going for her, including the male lead and the fact that practically everyone she meets on the road becomes an ally. The male lead himself is the usual strong, protective guy. The story itself, falling into a different world, becoming a super important person, needing to save the world or change it somehow, etc. is a somewhat unimaginative storyline.

Don't get me wrong -- I do allow plenty of room for shoujo cliche, having read as much as I have. But I honestly expected more from this series, after all the incredible reviews on it. All in all, I was disappointed in this series. I hate to be the one poor review in the bunch, but this was my honest opinion, as I'm sure everyone else gave theirs. I give it a very hesitant 7 for a rating, and only because I tend to rate things high anyway. This was not a 'bad' series -- simply a very simple, unremarkable one. It is neither bad nor good, I would say, and was a decent read while it lasted, but I would have preferred to read something more worth my time.

An absolute favourite

Honestly, this has to be my all-time favourite manga. It just had the perfect mix of fantasy, action, romance, and adventure it literally got me hooked from the very first pages. I love how the story not only revolved around the romantic relationship between the leads, but the other characters and events of the world as well. The plot was a lot more complex compared to other shoujos. Loved the art and the author just did such an amazing job with the characters. You just can't help but love them all biggrin Not only Izark and Noriko, but everyone else along the journey as well. I really connected with them and cared for all of them. The story just literally took me to another world and now I feel really sad that it ended sad But the ending was satisfying just as much as the rest of the series. Overall, it was super sweet, exciting, original, and totally awesome! DON'T MISS THIS ONE! I will definitely be reading it again!!

I highly suggest this manga! Very good plot and character development, it never gets old! It's not the average shoujo that seems to be piling on manga lists, but a true classic (like Immortal Rain and Red River). This type of manga is not easily found and it's old enough to be considered a relic, but this is the type that I absolutely adore! The art is an older style, but that's part of why it's so good.
Read this manga!
PS: If you love over protective male leads that are dominant but not creepy, this is your manga!
