AWESOME SHIT.

Oh gawd. Holy molly. Actually I've been putting this on my wishlist for a long time and didn't want to read it at all, but since I was bored, I decided to give this a try and I'M NOT REGRETTING IT!!! The plot is awfully horribly good. It's too awesome for words. I love all the characters although, I hated them in the beginning but hey, they turned out to be pretty good! I don't understand why some people dislike Machika in the beginning since, she is capable of fighting and I see her as a strong female lead. It's not like she goes around acting like some damsel in distress and hauling that scythe for no reason but in fact, she can pull off a few stunts and I enjoyed every fighting scene of hers. I liked her actually. She's an understanding person and when she hugged Yuca during the end, I cried. Yuca is another cute character as well!

Although he was really evil in the beginning but that's because he was in pain...and to see how he has changed so drastically after bumping into Machika and Rain, I think he's a lovable character. I have no complaints about Rain either. He's just as good as he is. Well honestly saying, all the characters are likeable. I can't seem to hate them at all, even the villains. Oh, of course Folk in exception.

And the art is pretty good too! It's really clean and the dialogues isn't all over the place and each scene is drawn out in great details. Seriously, I don't have any complaints about this manga. Plus, this manga made me cry, laugh and smile all the way to the ending. It's just good. You really gotta read this. Honestly. PLEASE!!!

This manga is by far one of the best I have ever read! It made me cry, laugh, and wish there was more. I guarantee that you would love this as well... I'm torn that I finished it, yet glad. A breath of fresh air knowing that i finished reading a wonderful masterpiece such as this... Thank you OZAKI Kaori!

Not the Best

Okay... I wanted to enjoy the interaction between a silly, loving male lead and a boyish (literally in appearance) female lead, but the love was too fast, too simple, and unfathomable. The mangaka tries to show how incredible their love is through perspective of the other characters. she shows how amazed they are or even how jealous they are, but every time I'm left asking, huh? I don't feel it. I don't get it.

It's not all bad. Some of the characters are have depth. I am displeased with the female lead and the way the story is told but there are cute moments here and there, with subtle details that help readers get to know the characters better.

When I started it, I was like meh. I guess I must have been prejudiced against Rain's fake glasses. Or something. Cause as soon as he lost them and the manga ka updated her art style a bit and got into the meat of it I realized that what I was reading was something AMAZING. Actually I think the real turning point was when a certain someone was born. So crazy good. If you don't believe me, READ IT YOURSELF. The protagonist goes from being slightly obnoxious to loveable and fun and Methuselah/Rain (and also Yuca) will always have a good chunk of my heart to himself. All the characters are complex and fun, and don't be mislead by your first impression of some of them. They and the story itself have something deep going on that I was able to completely immerse myself in by the end. You'll be crying for them and cheering them on and slapping your face in their behalf before long. It's super exciting, often hilarious, really quite freaky at parts, and the kind of sad that makes you want to give the characters a hug and cry with them. I like the romance too. So sweet. You won't regret sticking with this one if you like a good sci fi fantasy action romance.

note: there is some good amount of blood shed at times, and one or two random top half nude shots, but it doesn't go over the top and the romance is good and clean. For those like me who care to know.

Wonderful! It was just wonderful! Despite Rain being the main character, I can't help for fall in love with Yuca!!!! His story is sooo painful and sad. He just felt too lonely that he wanted someone to wait for him, which was Rain. I teared up like a baby!!!! I don't know why people are giving this manga so much negative rating when it is very original. And I like a little gore here and there so I think this was perfect. Machika was a strong character and very talented. ARGHHHH I never wanted it to end... Very good manga, read it if you like Kanata Kara and stuff. Great work, keep it up managaka...

Many series started strongly and declined. This one was the opposite.

I was annoyed, really annoyed when I read the first half of the series to the point that I almost gave up at many points. I just couldn't stand reading about a stupid brat who kept fooling around, claiming herselft to be strong but, in fact, very very weak and annoying. What can she do? Called the male lead's name all the time and cried.
Fortunately, I didn't give up and things eventually got better, especially a while since the rebirth of Yuca. Maybe it was because of his appearance, the story less revolved around her and more around him and therefore got better. He and Sharem are my most favourite characters for the whole series as they had some depths in their personalities, completely unlike the female lead.
All in all, this was a favourable read, though I don't think I will recommend it to my friends.

Wonderful blend of so many things.

Be warned, this is a surprisingly dark series. (I say that with no negative connotation attached.)

Despite being shoujo, Immortal Rain has a very shounen feel; the mangaka herself admits that is what she was going for. I think she pulled off the blend fantastically, opening up this series to readers who typically wouldn't go for shoujo while also adding something unique for avid fans.

What I love most about this series are two things: the unique-ness and the characters.
I could go on and on, but to put it simply, the story is nothing you'll see anywhere else.
And you absolutely have to appreciate characters that make you FEEL. If you read enough, you realize that is not a given. I grew to love these characters very quickly, and watching their growth throughout the series was both wonderful and heartbreaking. Most shockingly, characters I hated in the beginning evolved into characters I understood, sympathized with, and cried for.

I think this is one of those series that should be on everyone's shelf.

Surprisingly Good.

And by surprising I mean I was surprised it made a comeback.

It started off brilliant and then it sort of died down to the point where I wanted to give it up, only for it to perk back up again and hit a climax that had me engrossed for the rest of the story. Immortal Rain has everything you're looking for in a manga and I'm surprised "psychological" isn't a tag because my mind was a little f*cked with.

Did anyone else expect a "cute" or at least shoujo-y manga? Haha, don't be deceive, sh!t gets real and fast, but that's what made it so surprisingly good.

It's brilliant, I enjoyed it and the ending was very cute. A nice ride and I'll probably revisit it in the future. But, people, could you imagine an anime! *gasp* BEST. POSSIBLE. ANIME!

You know that feeling after reading a manga when you just want to stand up and run around the room fangirling? This definitely gave me that feeling. Inspired me to write fanfiction, even, though I actually ended up starting an original story that was fueled by my excitement from finishing this manga.

Though I had started it once and said 'this looks boring' and tossed it away, I am so, so glad I went back and finished it. It is a real page-turner, to say the least, with the perfect mix of romance, comedy, action, and everything else! This is one of my all-time favorite mangas and I would recommend it to anybody, no matter what genre they were originally looking for. I'd buy it for them, shove it in their face and say, 'here, read it. You'll love it. Trust me.'

I had no clue of this series when tokyopop was publishing it. It's so good! I love goofy Rain his expressions when he blushes due to Machika are priceless.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Like when they finally reunite after a year has passed and she wants to see his cross. His expression was very kyaaa!

The story was very compelling and the art was fabulous, especially seenig the art go from thd 90's look (like how D·N·Angel started out.) to the 2000's soundz stupid, but I like seeing how the art changes in long running series.
The ending was very nice, and satisfying.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Seeing Rain with his hair cut was very refreshing he is handsome both ways. And then seeing Yuca with his ending was very satisfying. It looks like he was reborn in modern Japan, unlike where the story took place.
I recomend this to anyone who likes "actual" romance not some fiddle diddle in action/fantasy manga's
