Kaze no Stigma? Really? What a bad comparison!
First properly read and understand the story, then try to make any comparison.
In this manga, protagonist is NOT "weak" in his profession, and especially in his IDEAL profession.
Read the 'Novel' properly if the manga doesn't make that clear to you.

She is damn cold-hearted and scary when it comes to business.

The reason she's so fond of his bother is because he "deserves" it.
He's the only one she truly respects in the entire world.
And, she DOES have a personality. What are you talking about again!?
(Though she isn't a submissive one, but even if she were to act like that (obviously only toward 'him'), the reason would be clearly understandable to anyone who has read Volume 8 of the novel. So don't judge others with half-baked knowledge! Hell, she even tries to manipulate his bother up to a certain extent. Just what is this "submissive" thing you're talking about?)
Unlike your so-called 'submissive' female leads, she has a VERY SOLID and REALISTIC (at least as realistic as you can get in a fictional story) reason behind her deep affection for 'him'.
I mean he's literally like a 'God' to her (yes, he has truly acted like a God for her). [Read the novel for details.]

Why does he deserve her love? Why does he deserve her utmost respect? You wanna know!?
What are you waiting for then, go and read the "Novel" now!
You'll get all the answers you are looking for.

P.S.: 98% of your comment was nothing but BS. I'm sure you'd be like "what s**t was I talking about!?" once you read the novel.

I read the manga first, then read the novel online. This manga has taken a different direction then the novel, in that events actually move slowly in the manga and different personalities are characterized. However, the manga is unable to fully bring out each character's different personalities, and moved in favor of suspense towards the main character. While not necessarily a bad read, it has some major flaws because of it being an adaptation of a novel.

This manga is, unfortunately, mediocre. Even though the setup is for the main character to be untalented in magic and therefore will be classic shounen "weak main character becomes stronger manga," it's actually misdirection because the story is actually of the type "main character is hilariously dark, secret, and overpowered" like the manga Kaze no Stigma. Both of these have the same basic plot of "protaganist is weak in his ideal profession but makes up for it with secondary profession that is so overpowered that he can beat anyone, no matter how talented."

This manga also falls into the trap of being hilariously cliched. First, even though the sister is supposed to be super talented in magic and therefore very strong, she is the classic Japanese submissive woman who sole purpose in life is to please her love intereset (aka male protaganist). She currently doesn't have any personality and most likely never will. If the author is talented enough to overcome sterotype and give an explanation of any of this I would be surprised.

All in all, if you like Kaze no Stigma but hated the tsundere love interest and wanted her replaced with brother loving, submissive, and talented woman, then this manga is for you.

Obviously, you're probably going through puberty since you can't stand someone having a different opinion than you. Also, if your solution is "read the novel", that means that the manga is shit. Also, if you need to read up to freaking eight volume before you find out about a main love interests worship of the Gary Stu main character, it actually has to be able to sustain someone reading that far, which it doesn't because it sucks.

The concept is nice but the manga suffers from some huge flaws, the main one being insufferable characters and atmosphere. The dialogs sound like they come from 'the young and the restless'-like cheesy dramas with rich people, and the obvious "twists" of the plot made me seriously facepalm a couple of times.
But really the worst are the characters. To take only the two protagonists, MC is angsty and annoying, with oh-so-mysterious hidden depths that you can guess from chapter 1, a sad past I guess with unloving parents, and a serious sister complex. MC's sister is really really annoying, clingy, submissive, obviously here for the fanservice with 'loving and cute pure little-sister' fetish written all over.
Anyway, I guess that manga tries to be Iris Zero and fails. Hard.

I think Novel Fans of this Title are being a bit harsh by comparing it with it's source material (Novel) which is infinitely better than this (i 100% agree)

BUT but for those who don't want to read just "Texts" the manga medium serves as a great way to immerse oneself into this Fine Series

Give it a chance and if possible do check out the Novel version of it because it;s more fleshed out and Tatsuya is even more BADASS over there

there are some people who like to compare this manga with others which is okay but then there are people who start talking bout it ripping off ideas from other mangas. while occasionally such accusations are true, you should find the serialisation dates of the different mangas first before saying its it's using the same "formula" as other mangas.

all in all, the manga is fairly interesting. i cant compare it to the novels because im not a fan of reading text based publishes but this manga does excel over the average manga in art and development in the main character which in my opinion is what preserves interest in cliche story lines such as this one.

Yes, the novel is way better. The main guys frequent internal monologues (i.e. his analyses of the events around him) are a major part of the story, however the manga appears to have mostly done away with it. Also, the manga doesn't portray the main guys true personality and thoughts. He's way more critical in his thinking than the manga shows. It's like the manga only looks at the surface, whereas the most interesting bits lie deep below the surface. The manga may show him withholding comment in a particular discussion, but in the novel his mind is working overtime, and the process of how he came to the conclusion not to comment is written in great detail. If you've heard of Lelouch from Code Geass, then imagine how it would be if you could look into his mind, and observe his thoughts. That's how it feels when I read the novel. The manga is just another magic series, whereas the novel takes an entirely different (and more interesting) approach to telling a story about magic. So it's 7/10 for the manga, since the plot is still very interesting and entertaining, however it's 10/10 for the novel.

I think this manga is quite good, that being said, it's got one big flaw. It's adapted from a novel.
Because the manga is adapted from a novel it's restriced to the novel somewhat and that makes it harder to show the characters feelings and make it have a good flow.

Now don't get me wrong, I actually like the novel more then the manga. I usaly like novels more then their manga adaptions, a big part of that is because manga often have a hard time showing the characters feelings to situations. This is especially true for Tatsuya in this series. He is unusually cold and his thought process is a bit odd from time to time and the manga can't really show that in a satisfying way imo.

The novel also gives more foreshadowing then the manga does.

It is of course true that to some degree the manga can display a few things better, in chapter 3 of the manga for example you can see Ono Haruka (the counselor) give Tatsuya a smug look that might indicate their relationship in the future.

All in all, I like the novel alot better but the manga is still a good read. I'd recommend reading the novel whetever you like this manga or not.

i'm usually not into anything unrealistic but this manga is an exception (along with inuyasha and rosario vampire xD ). the story is very new to me, so i wouldn't say that it's overly cliche, but if it is, then i'd say it's a good kind of cliche. the only bad parts for me so far is that i don't really see a romance developing and that it's a freaking monthly manga T.T why must everything i read be a monthly manga

I read the novel on Baka-Tsuki and it is a bit confusing to read it due to all the names and terms, so it is a bit better to read the manga in that point of view. This manga is very cliche and not something that is very unique and doesn't give the "wow" effect. The drawing is very comfortable to see/read, but I am a bit disappointed on how they adapted this manga from the novel. I personally think that the novel is better. I am not really sure why but I tend to be more excited and interested in the novel.
