Well, I have to say this manga is amazing. There aren't that many manga out there that can surprise you the way this one does. I have been reading manga for a long time, and generally after reading a series for a while I start to expect what's coming, and although the ending was somewhat what I was expecting early into the series, the trip there wild with surprises that made me go OMFG on numerous occasions.
Some people seem to be put back by the twist this manga took towards the end but this is a Seinen and the signs were there, it didn't just turn 180 all of a sudden like some manga tend to do very annoyingly (Kurohime and Legend of Maian anyone?), in fact I personally tremendously enjoyed these twists and was very happy of the way the mangaka put them in. He put in subtle signs here and there that something wasn't right, enough to give a sort of feeling that something will happen, but not so much as to disclose what that is until it actually happens. And yes, the stuff that happens there is ridiculous but this manga gets us used to the surprisingly good combination of "yeah, I could see that happening" and "no way in hell that could happen" so it doesn't really affect the flow of the story in a bad way, in fact, I think that strange YinYang combination is a big part of this manga's charm.
I am fairly satisfied with the ending, I dare say that it tied up most loose ends although in my opinion, if the author isn't planning for a sequel, the last chapter should've either had a few more pages continuing from the last page(you'll get it once you get there) or a few less pages. He sorta just threw in an extra loose end right on the last pages after finally managing to more or less take care of all the others.
Well, sorry for babbling on, this is the first time I actually bothered to rate and comment a manga (mostly because usually there are already comments out there that say what I wanted to say) so sorry if it is a bit difficult to understand. I tried to describe the manga as much as possible without giving any details that would spoil it for the reader.
Bottom line, this manga is really one of those manga that you just must read to understand what the hell the comments are on about and make an opinion of your own. I personally loved it, and would recommend it to anyone who likes their manga to actually have a story because the story in this one is great with amazing character development.

Really enjoyed the manga, had great humor, had great emotional bits and i really liked all the characters. But then Volume 6 happened, thats when things got... really really dark... and not in a good way.
It literally hits you outta nowhere from vol 6 and onwards, the story gets more absurdly dark and i'm left reading this going "brah... the hell is going on here..." I just think the author got bored and or lost his gatdamn mind. Its a real shame because I really enjoyed this manga... and ending is supposed to be uplifting but there really isn't much to be uplifted by after all that has happened.

By all rights this should be a tragedy. Even his lolicon friend has not done anywhere near enough to deserve the crap life dumped on this man...... it was comedy and yet I felt like crying. This has a severe chance of giving someone a complex about females... rl females are usually far more manipulative and corrupt than manga shows, but these chicks could top the charts in reality. Honestly this is a story of a man who has everything stolen from him in return for a daughter.

This manga was one hell of a ride! The first 50ish chapters, it was an amazing light-hearted manga! AMAZING AND CUTE! I also loved the premise! So, I'm good until we learn about *him* and then when the mother comes back! ACKKKKKKKK THAT MADE ME RAGEEEEEEEEEE! But after that, it goes back for the last couple chapters into being light hearted and cute.

Went from 'AWESOME AND LIGHTHEARTED' to 'RAGEQUIT/FUUUU!' to 'YAY~IWANTSEQUEL!'

I feel bad for Haruka! >.< I hope there is a sequel lmao! When I was reading spoilers and in the 'RAGE chapters' I seriously wondered why anybody would want to read a sequel, but now I understand! ;D

I don't know if it's just me, but I believe that Kimiko, the landlady's mom was forgiven to easily, as well as Nichi. Nichi.... omg don't get me started... Anyways, I don't know about you guys, but 'Sensei' is like 38~39 by the end of the manga isnt he? Sorta wierd since he has a 19 year old wife, who was originally supposed to be his adopted 'DAUGHTER'! It would have been better if they made the marriage an -on paper only- thing since it is sorta weird to have a mate who's 20 years your senior.

i guess the thing that drew me in to read this is the title...parenthood vs. otakuism...thats something hard o picture because i picture otaku peole as solo flyers without a sense of resposibility because they lost their contact with reality...vs. the image of my responsible and loving parents...
lolzzz...this manga pictured everything in here!! i love it!! i can really see teh struggle of Kouta against his old hobbies and his love for his daughter...its so heartwarming!! especially the latest chapter...omg i miss my own dad!! : < i cant wait for the next scan!! wahhhh!!~
<edit>
just finished this. well gotta say i have enjoyed it!~! the drama, the comedy, the anime references thrown here and there and more drama.. well, the plot was just like a scrambled egg of sorts.. and lets just say i like omelets so i dont feel like degrading my rating and i really liked the characters, the only thing that kindda dont get is the bonus chapter? i mean i was like WTF? or maybe the skilled assistant that the editor brought was Koutas and.. but thats not possible is it? well.. that feels like a gag. so i wont take it seriously. so yeah. great happy ending.

..the recent development was a complete mess. The mother goes b!tchy, while the half-blood brother and his father are nude freak. The only good thing here is the pure love of father-daughter between Kanau and Kouta, although I think it's a little odd under the circumstances.
Surprising turn of events, very interesting, a must read

I started reading as a training for my english, as like any other manga, I read mainly because of the comedy... that`s a must for me...
And in this style there`s so many comedi-romance manga, and so many are just a lame excuse for fanservice...
It`s very impressive how things turn out, how the autor developed the characters, explaining the reasons to their actions... it`s a slice of life, with very true situations... the emotions and feelings that everyone has for one another, the fails in love... very interesting...

Rage rage and more rage.Probably my first manga that has fallen so low on the ratings from a good rating.I began reading it as a comedy, but the author decided to mind blow us completely by getting rid of his unwanted characters by making them act as complete bitches. And the worst part is that the evilness of the characters is presented not in a natural kind of way with all the consequences that sth like this brings in,but in a supposedly funny way.If you read it till the end you will get my point, but be prepared. If you want sth similar but without rage, try Genshiken or Doujin Work.
