What a Drag

This manga was actually quite a fun read even though it was far from perfect. Whilst I loved the main characters I felt like there could have been a bit more depth to both of them. I also felt like the series could have gone on for at least another volume or two, it ended just when things seemed to have been very shaken up and could have been interesting to see the events span out. I would have also loved for more character development for the side characters, I feel, though a few got some good recognition, that a lot of them were very glossed over. Even the characters pasts are somewhat glossed over, as if the author didn't truly have a firm grasp on story telling yet. Some examples of this came from Izumi's helper (whose name I have already forgotten) who was a dear friend, we find out some of his past but it's resolved quite quickly and I would have liked to have seen more depth from his character. There was also a cousin introduced whose position and reason for being there seems all but useless now. There was also the male comedy duo characters that could have used with a bit more spotlight. Basically, in this manga, almost everything revolved around the main, which isn't the greatest of story telling, even when other people were going through their own problems, again, Hikaru would be involved in some form or another. Besides all this and a lackadaisy ending, it was somewhat entertaining to read.
I do also have to commend it for it's somewhat different portrayal of stereotypical gender roles in shoujo manga. Emphasis on somewhat though, as, despite their appearances, they still fall into the sterotypical gender portrayels mentally.

Typical Shoujo Manga

The books said 16+ but it's surely shoujo, typical shoujo manga.
Main female character look so familiar suzuka + ouran host club?
I feel that main female character are lack of unique characteristic, just so plain, indecisive same as 80% of shoujo manga in market. It would be better if mangaka add something (ex. strong will, work hard, vision) and show it to reader from time to time.
Anyway it have touching moment (only main couple) and you can enjoy read it till it happyend.

this manga is fantastic! the art is well done and the characters are really relatable and likable. I find myself able to empathize with the characters and their situation. and as hikaru's perspective changes, I can also see mine start to change. the mangaka did a great job! there are parts when it gets a bit tedious, but stick with it. this manga is well worth it. I didn't like the last volume that much and the ending was kind of cliché and annoying, but the other 7 volumes were good. (:

Captivating

This series shows the growth of the mangaka quite well. From a a decently drawn series with some humor to a solid, if not spectacular work.

The characters are likable and the story is mostly solid. The growth you can see in them over the course of the series is what retained my attention. They never felt stale due to the slow but constant change.

The art is fine in standard shoujo style, not the best I've seen, but it serves the series well.

All in all it is worth the time spent reading it and I warmly recommend it to fans of shoujo series.

Perfect for people who like gender bender stories. The storyline is very sweet and slightly humorous, and the drawing style is very cute and beautiful.

I strongly recommend reading this manga!! biggrin

One of the best reads ever! The characters are unpredictable, very different from the usual shoujo stereotypes. The story is light but very heartwarming. On of the best shoujos I've encountered ever.

Just finished the whole series in one night! Its THAT engaging...
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
and for once the girl didn't chose the loser cheater and made the right decision to get over him and start a new life with someone else. Its realistic in this sense. Also i enjoy manga where at the beginning the obvious hero isnt romantically involved with the main character, but it comes as a surprise with plot twists...
very very engaging and feel good manga.. though the ending was slightly rushed.

There were some parts i hated

It was mostly good. Some parts really irritated me and I personally didn't really like the heroine. I also hated the relationship between the sensei and Hikari, totally inappropiate and was soo happy when they broke up. Ending was ok for me. Art is really good.
