Don't take it serious.

Just go with the flow and this Manhwa is kind of funny. Although, I have to admit it was more unwillingly funny, but that's in the end all the same. Kkk. Seriously the storyline comes up with all kinds of the well-known issues and the characters are stereotyped, but in the end even this has a hilarious side. For example, the last two chapters made me crack laughing, ...

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
... when the lost cousin reappears out of the blue (Yes, you get to know him in the chapter before.) and suddenly the main characters family moves, so she had to transfer schools.

I can't really take it serious and the art style is pretty oldschool, that's why all in all just 4 points from 10. And, those are mainly for the humor. Mian~

Read it =)
As a whole it's good. the author just didn't know how to end it in such a way fangirls would be satisfied.
Nevertheless, I still liked it =) I like light stories

Rare Decent Jjang Manwha

I have to preface this by saying, I almost never like fighting stories. Mostly because they make it seem like all the people do is fight. After awhile, it just gets old. My rule of thumb has almost become, if it has a Jjang tag on it, its crap. This said, Red Lion is better then most fighting manwhas. It actually has at least a moderate amount of story. As well as several entertaining characters. And while of course being a Jjang manga, theres way, way, way too much fighting, the heroine of the story managed to draw me in and thus override the stupidity of the constant fighting to some degree. Its still not a great manwha. But compared to almost all the other idiotic fighting stories, this is a definite step up.

I do not like fighting or battle mangas normally. I do like having a very strong main character especially when it is a girl.

Here we have a "fighting" manhwa with a good amount of comedy and a female main character who is pretty much unbeatable in her own realm. Now she also has some weaknesses that are exploited but when she is fighting she does not have anyone that is really any competition.

I liked her attitude as well. The story overall was rather well told and with some like-able characters we have a good manhwa. Fortunately the fighting is more of a background to the story then the story itself. This means that it is not a true battle manhwa.

The manwha was good, and I liked it, but there was nothing about it to get attached to. I mean, the artist had a potentially good plot, but she constantly just let things blow over, only to never show up again. Also, it was pretty predictable, but in an enjoyable way.

At certain points during the story, you feel like you might be going somewhere and you start to get excited. But just as you do, it gets resolved in less than 10 pages and then disappears forever. Or, if you're lucky, it gets referenced to at some random point later on. A lot of the potentially intereting characters who could have advanced the plot a little more (and made it way more exciting), had nothing told about them. They were brought out for a breif interlude, and, as soon as you begin to take an interest in them, the artist takes them and packs them away, leaving you wondering and hoping.

At the most excitable parts of the series, the biggest reaction I could ever actually get out of myself was "Hmm. That's interesting" Even when it ended the only thing I really had to say about it was along the lines of "Oh? I guess it's over now."

My advice to you is this: If you're looking for a manwha that will grab you, keep you at the edge of your seat, and take you to hell and back, Keep Looking. But if you're looking for a good time waster, something that's easy to read and enjoyable without the sometimes bothersome attachment that often comes with mangas and manwhas, then sit back, relax, and read Red Lion.

To sum up this manwha in one word: LUKEWARM

The art was okay, and I tend to have a weakness for stories about girls who fight against ooooh-so-evil-evil-powers (!), no matter how extremely cliché that may be. Eisul (the red lion) and Yumin were likable, and it was a fairly entertaining read.

On the other hand, the characters weren't characterized by more than a few superficial traits each, but I didn't anticipate that either. A pity that the story was rushed at times, especially during volume 6 and 7.

An okay manhwa, but don't expect a great work of art.
