I love YYH, it is my 5th favorite series of all time. What I love so much about it is it's similarity to DBZ, both in terms of action and sometimes plot. Very beautiful women, especially the Dark Tournament announcer (meow!) and Botan. This series definitely deserves a 10/10, easily.
awesome.

This series really ended abruptly, but I think it's because Togashi-sensei was losing interest in YYH and wanted to move on with other things. Anyway, YYH was the anime that got me HOOKED on anime. It remains one of my favorite anime of all time. If you're looking for the classic-style of shonen manga/anime then this is a definite must-read. Remember, this is one of the titles that kept Shonen Jump alive and famous (aside from the ever popular Dragon Ball).

I made the mistake reading Hunter X Hunter before this series. Don't do this, compared to HXH this manga is just not good enough. But is enjoyable on some level.

This is the first manga I've ever read and I'm so glad I did! I've been completely hooked to manga (and this series) ever since! No matter how how many times I come across a bad manga and start to lose faith, YYH just makes me happy all over again. I would have to say that this is a must read!

One of the classic must-read shonen. Only reason i gave it a 9 is because the beginning was mediocre and it ended too abruptly. Otherwise, its one of the greatest shonen ever in my books.
Oh, btw, i prefer this to HxH.

This is a classic that any action/adventure fan should read. I'd say the manga is way better than the anime in terms of artwork and story. I found the ending rather unsatisfactory, but I absolutely did not regret reading this at all. There's some cute chicks in it, but if you're hoping for some romance/sex, then try something else. The girls were mostly ornamental, and have very small roles.
Some may find his art style sloppy or sketch-like in the late volumes (around last 5 or so), but I, for one, was awed with how he still managed to convey a sense of movement with minimal lines.

HOW people can say crap like Naruto and One Piece is better than this has really mystified me for the better half of 2 years.....granted, the anime is better than the manga, but the manga is still one of the best shounen titles ever. Why it ended at only 19 volumes while frikkening Naruto is at chapter 357+ is beyond me....whatever, at least it ended great, while Naruto is getting worse by the chapter. What I hate more than good series ending early is a series that NEEDS to end but doesn't know when to quit while it's ahead....prime examples? Naruto, DBZ, and Pokemon are the only ones you need.

Good manga by the author of Hunter x Hunter. It starts off very innocently, an opening arc mostly focussed on episodic adventures, which are fun. Then it slightly degenerates into a rather dull demon-fighting manga with the next arc, which I really did not like at all. After comes a tournament arc, which I thought was at least a step up from the last one. It's all pretty shallow, but definitely enjoyable if you can tolerate tournaments.
But THEN, imo, is where this manga really starts to shine. More and more similarities to Togashi's next series (HxH) pop up and all of the tedious fighting makes place for more original scenarios and abilities. I haven't read or seen all of it (only 16 volumes), but alas from what I've heard other people say, the last arc will end abruptly. But at this point in time I don't think there's too many loose ends.
I recommend it to shounen fans, and definitely Togashi fans. But all in all the quality of the manga is pretty variable. Going from dull to interesting depending on what type of story you favor.

I'm not sure how I like the manga. I tend to like shoujo manga and shounen anime...not quite sure why that is...I read different things than I watch, but so far it's okay. There are lots more incidents and branch stories than in the anime. I'm wondering how far the manga goes in relation to the anime. I'll come back and add a rating once I've caught up to how far it's been scanlated so far. Then I'll save the manga as a surprise for my little brother. He'll be SO happy. I gave him the anime for Christmas.
