Okay, I'm just gonna be a chain link towards the previous people who fell head over heels for this manga but I'll still say it, this is the best manga probably in the whole Yaoi history to date! Why? Because it is burning with everything that is Yaoi. There are lots of fights, violence, jealousy, rape, there is betrayal (but that only made them more..active..? -,-"), then there is that undeniably irresistible bond between the characters that just pulls you in to the very end. It may not be right for me to selfishly proclaim the greatness of this manga but those who enjoyed it would understand and those who don't can keep on searching. I will continue searching as well but no matter what, even if I ever do read another excellent Yaoi masterpiece, I think I'll still be drooling over Sen and Sword at the beach; free of UGH... (with Sword's cool hair!) All in all:

Artwork: 9.5/10 (Most of it was very pleasing especially the ending to volume 1...@////@...)
Plot: 10/10 (Just love how Sen gradually becomes just as nuts as Sword)
Overall: 10/10

one of the BEST, hard core yaoi , i have ever read. read it all in one day good not put it down. Want more. Heard Lucky dog might be similar. BUT i don't think it will rock as much as this did.

I absolutely LOVED this.

A friend of mine rec'd it and I read it tonight. Just brilliant. The seme and the uke were both gorgeous (and for those who don't get the hair, they're called dreadlocks) and I adored the fact that no one was femme. They were in love, they were sexual, but they were still MEN. That's SO refreshing for a change! They didn't have crying fits and get all 'emotional' like you see in shoujo and most yaoi manga -they each maintained their manhood throughout and it was a major appeal for me.

There is a good deal of violence and graphic sex, but it's such an important part of the story's atmosphere that it would be boring if it wasn't there. The mangaka was inspired by the old HBO show, OZ, and if you're familiar with that and liked it, you'll really enjoy this. I sorta guessed the ending before it was revealed in the last few pages, and wow, I just can't express how much I enjoyed it. Great read from start to finish!

I can't believe it!! I'm, a fan of handsome-cool character and haters of cheating story LOVES THIS MANGA SO MUCH!! Sword is faaar faar away from handsome and cool. he is a f*ckin bastard with a weird hair. but this is what makes this story is so HOT! I swear this is the dirtiest yaoi manga that I ever read. sex everywhere, violence, rape, and some killing scene... it makes me.. wow.
Maybe because of the seme's (super) possessiveness, I do really like it. I used to think that Sword is a sick bastard who kill everyone who touch sen, but when I looked again.. I think Sen is.. well.. as crazy as Sword. ahahaha...

Btw, since the warden is MUCH MUCH Handsome and hotter than sword, I wouldn't mind reading Sen having sex with him.I just hope there are MORE! because.. maybe I like that couple better. LoL. yeah.. handsome, hot, cunning, and.. villain. LoLoL

Oh.. and , I think sword in short hair is cool!!! xD

A must read! Definately the HOTTEST manga I've read in quite a while. I love that the couple isn't like the typical sappy yaoi couple. They're tough and manly, without being bara. Though there were parts where the couple frustrated me literally to almost the point of tears.

Also,I wish there was more with Norman and Walter...

At first, I was freaked out by this story. But it kind of grew me in. It wasn't a prison setting just for porn's sake (but sort of for porn's sake...), and everyone was really a criminal or crazy or both. The two main guys are nuts in a fascinating way, and they really do love each other in a psychotic sense. It all works in this story.

If you don't like graphic sex and some violence, don't read this. It gets intense.

And everyone does cheat on everyone, but it's not a huge deal to them. Everyone has sex with a lot of guys (it is a prison in a porny plot). But the two main guys, even as they sleep with others, only like each other and they both know that (mostly). Normally I don't like infidelity, but it works with these two characters.

No one is the weaker one in the relationship. They're both smart, they're both capable, they're both tough, and they're both crazy. No one's really in control.

I was just reading it then when i got to the end and i was just clicking next like, WTF why isn't it moving...then came the realisation the series was finished! This was simply fabolous and i cant sing it anymore praise. I absolutely loved the fact one of the protagonists was black 'cos im all yay for interacial couples and its so rare to see insie manga. This is the first actually an even better is the fact it was yaoi haha the plot was very clever an well executed so well done to mangaka san. Gah i loved this.

It was a great book. The seme so very possessive and muniplitive while the uke wasent very innocent, he was a very good guy. The ending though was so very sad, even though it had a somewhat happy ending. I kept on thinking over and over again how sad it was for days.

You will not find a story as rich and as beautiful as this, I have read many yaoi mangas but nothing that comes close to Under Grand Hotel. I have read this story over 20 times and I never get bored. The two characters are perfect for each other. The setting keeps you on your toes. The story is about real love between two prisoners....what more can you ask for?
