Io those readers who r going to read this, full moon isnt a manga that resembles any fairytale story. although the main character, mitsuki is only 12 years old, but her thoughts r way too deeper than her age. even i have to think for a long time to understand a little bit of her feelings. maybe at first there r some of u that think this manga is really hard to understand, but for me, if u tried to be in their shoes, maybe u can get along with the story. ^^ overall, this manga is not a shallow story, the mangaka doesnt lose the character's personalities along the storyline (well done!), i love the characters for who they are, so, GREAT JOB!

Wow, this series is just amazing. I have both read the whole series and watched the whole anime. The two are very different, but just as touching. While reading the scanlations I must have cried over 15 different times by the end. This story is a really good tear jerker if you are feeling down and just want to cry. But even if you don't want to cry, I still sugest that you read it!

I really liked this story (I own the manga at home). It was a cute story but I did find the whole Eichi thing annoying! I found that character really irritating! But I love Arina Tanemura's drawing style! Though the drawings can get a little chaotic to look at because of all the detail... The are still some of the most beautiful looking drawings you will find in a manga! I love it!

I really like some parts of this story. When I first read what it was about, I thought 'this is retarded.' and I also saw the art and thought it was ugly.
...but in the book, the art is gorgeous (the art I saw was for the anime ^^;;), the story gets pretty deep and has some twists that I didn't expect. There is of course a little cliche, and I didn't really like the ending, it seemed thrown together. But it's pretty good, and I suggest it. <3

Wonderful art and heartfelt characters. Some surprising and strange twists, and very dramatic and emotional -- this series can really make you cry! This is probably the most heartfelt of Arinacchi's works - each character has a touching and developed background and things end up being connected in unexpected ways.

As usual, the ending is kind of haphazardly put together, with some random new characters and elements thrown in. The ending is very bittersweet.

It's one of the most touching mangas I've ever read. This story actually helped me cope with a very sad time in my life, and to find new hope. I'm really indebted with Tanemura-sensei for this.

Beautiful Art, Weird Story

Arina Tanemura draws some of the most beautiful shojo manga out there, but her stories are very weak comparatively. I don't know if it's because she's restricted by the editors she's had making manga for children's magazines (she tries to touch on adult issues but she can't seem to pull them off effectively) or because she's just weak at characterization and story telling.
Full Moon is touching in some ways, especially if you share the religious point of view that those who have passed on are always with us. Still, it's just so quirky and all over the place that the emotional moments aren't as effective as they could have been...

Honestly, I did skim through a lot of this manga because I think for the most part I've outgrown super sparkly, and fluffy shoujos but heck, it's now or never.

The art can at many times be pretty but I do think it's just not my taste. I agree that the somewhat depressing and death-related plot didn't really match the 'magical princess' aura the whole story gave out (pretty much the WHOLE time). But then again, the main character is 12... so I'm not sure if that should be expected (or if the age was a mistake from the beginning). Despite that, the happy and cute disposition did work to level out anything really dampering. If you want something almost deep, then go for this story. Anything more than that? I don't think this will be able to deliver it well. Granted there were some good themes about never giving up, and suggestions about suicide but it was pretty grazed over with all those sparkles and tears in the mix.

The ending however surprised me a bit.

It was one of the most perfect endings. With the plot setup, I anticipated it to be a little bittersweet but I don't think it could have been any more happy. And for some reason, I wasn't disappointed the mangaka went out of her way to make things even more unrealistically flawless, perhaps it kind of flowed well enough I just accepted it.

For a kid shoujo, it was alright. Wasn't bad, wasn't great.
