I really loved this story. It's the first one in a long time that made me cry. The emotions seems so much more realistic and real than the many other stories I have read. Cudos to the author! I gave it a full ten, for only the third or fourth time ever.

Not much of a comment but are there any other yaoi mangas like this or w/ the same topic? And just to say, i was definitely not expecting the sharp turn in direction the sequel took! The prequel was nice cute and fluffy so it was def. shocking when i got into the sequel. Im still not even sure if I like the sudden turn of events or not... It was just stressful, is the best way to describe the sequel, lol. But it was quite special overall so in a way i kinda do like it.

The prequel is quite light hearted, but this got very intense... had me on the edge of my seat, metal instructing begging the characters to do what I wanted XD
It left me feeling sad, which is impressive for a yaoi in my opinion.
A very nice read if you want something more serious, but beware, it's quite addictive. Once I started I had to get to the end to see what happened.

Also the character are enjoyably realistic, and have their own personalities, as opposed to just being stereotypes!

Mixed feelings

Don´t get me wrong, this Manga is good, really good. But it´s too damn frustrating and you can´t help but feel annoyed sometimes.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I couldn´t helpt but feel really annoyed because of Imagase, I mean what theee heck do you want from Kyoichi more than he has given you? He decided to end it with his Girlfriend but Imagase still insisted on running away from him. Kyoichi decided to give in to a homosexual relationship and did almost everything Imagase wanted. But he still wasn´t satisfied. I thought that Imagase was the kind of person that did everything to get what he wanted, because that was how he was in the prequel. Here he just appears as.....pathetic.

I glad it ended well though, I don´t think I would forgive the Mangaka if she ended it badly after all the struggle the two characters was put through.

This manga is an enjoyable read and not the usual fluffy-yaoi-love that most of us are probably accustomed reading. So if you want a realistic manga with loooots of drama and a angst filled relationship, this is definitly for you.

They both were selfish, they wanted almost the same things.
But one of them was really smart enough to make the best decision for them.

this manga made me wanna cry, (still couldn't), but just show me that there's people that likes to be with the WRONG PERSON (they suited eachother don't take me wrong), but still instead of the happy-easy life they want the DON'T KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN TOMORROW, BUT I KNOW FOR SURE THAT FATE WILL MAKE US COMEBACK!.

.-. that was what I feel about this manga, (though this one was a good work, e,é i've read other of her works and they didn't make me feel something they were just plain and boring-but that's just ME!)

unbelievably realistic uke

im amazed on how realistic the uke character is. I mean, he's exactly like most divaish gays I know.... drama queen, bitchy, dragging problems, attention whore, etc etc... in a whole lot different way than women do, to the point that I thought "only gays behave like this".

I personally like this sequel more than the first one (the cornered mouse dreams of cheese), I just dont understand why ppl are dissatisfied with the ending. I think it's perfect.

Somehow, this sequel managed to run in a cycle of frustration. Right when it would be a good time to end the series, the author would let it drag on and create a new conflict and repeat this. For example,
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
i would have accepted Kyou and Tamaki together, and Kyou a changed man
However, after thinking about it, i guess the author wanted to show that both characters remained selfish and indecisive and that despite whatever circumstances, fate would wind them back together. I find this suitable for the dark, serious tone of the manga.

The two main characters drove me crazy with their indecisiveness and insecurity, endlessly going back and forth- especially Imagase. He gave up any bits of his pride and cool composure in the prequel and turned into a very pathetic heartbroken stalker- which was his true nature anyways. Guess that shows what love can do to a person. Both of him and Kyou were afraid of falling into `forbidden`love. They`d run away from happiness. Either it was not their `ideal`.. or they `lacked of confidence`.. or the fact that they were `From different Worlds` or worries about what the future would hold. Imagase was afraid of tainting Kyou. He also knew that being with Kyou would only make him fall deeper into the pit of hell, in which he’d hurt himself more. Yet he loses control of his both senses and morals as he`s so deep in love and he is convinced that Kyou is the only one he will ever love. In Imagase`s defense, He has a right to feel insecure as Kyou is originally straight, is constantly surrounded by girls and has a history of infidelity.

On the good side, I am appreciative of this manga and it has a special factor to it. The mangaka of this series did a excellent job of conveying the serious and dark tones of this story. Despite the character’s tiring actions, it was a realistic display of how people act on their emotions. The end also satisfied me to some extent. At least in the end, we see that they have made *some* progress and come to some understandings. Kyou now understands Imagase more, and maybe will try to make him feel more loved and secure. Instead of worrying about the `Past` or `Future`, but to just focus on whats happening in the present - thats the message that i got from it. I liked how Kyou recognized that their relationship from now on may be a roller coaster yet concludes that `Whatever happens will happen`. That’s progress there!

I knocked off some points due to the fact that it had potential to be `absolutely breathe taking` and way up there on the wow factor. Nonetheless, flaws included i thought the overall impact was beautiful and compelling. A Must Read.

Fantastic Sequel!

I am so glad that Setona sensei & her publisher decided to make a sequel to Cornered Mouse that shows us the path to true love between Imagase & formerly straight Kyouchi is not a smooth one because realistically, it should not be. Volume 1 ended with the image of Kyouchi choosing Imagase & symbolically consumating their relationship.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Volume 2 finds both of them living together again & while Kyouchi seems to have recanted from his philandering way, he still can't really get over his hang up from having a real, true love relationship with another man. Understandably Imagase would feel very insecure about their relationship as well. So when a cute surbodinate at work sets her sight on having Kyouchi, that is all it takes to smash their still fragile relationship to pieces. However, the osmosis of feelings when they lived together proved stronger than each expected and absence made the hearts grow fonder. So when fate kindly brought them together again after an unfortunate incident, Kyouchi actually showed us how much he had grown to actually love Imagase & be willing to accept the change in life styles when faced with the option of having his true love back.

I feel this volume 2 definitely gives me a more satisfactory conclusion to where Imagase x Kyouchi relationship was heading in the future. I would recommend this series to any yaoi fan girl out there looking for a good drama. I really feel this series should be made into a live action drama because it is so amazingly engrossing.

Why does he have to go and ruin their relationship! Talk about self-destructive. And damn Kyouichi for getting serious with another girl! Their relationship really seemed perfect if not for that stalker. I was really sad. I actually cried. Tears of joy. When Tamaki told Kyouichi that she contacted Imagase I was so happy. It wasn't the end. I now like Kyouichi a lot more. This time he didn't give up and is being a good husband. Imagase is so cute at the end when he is happy, showing off and all.
