A rather morbid, sombre manga about two high school students, Kamiyama Itsuki and Morino Yoru, who have a peculiar interest in deaths and especially in murders that are committed near to them. I truly loved this manga. Dark and depressing, plenty of blood and gore, not to mention the art was fantastic. The only thing I didn't like was the female character's attitude, and how she was slightly a wimp.
loved it!

This was such an awesome story..I loved every moment of it. The gruesome crimes and the way the story was twisted and twisted and twisted again and again. How each chapter showed a different story and how in the end, everything was revealed. It was horror, but not the omgsh I'm going to barf kind of horror. Neatly executed, simple and delightful art and both of the protagonists showed a deep, dark side. The author really portrayed them very well and the evil side of the main character shown through like the darkest night. In fact, I found him rather attractive. Only fault was perhaps that the ending was kind of abrupt. But the whole concept of it was gorgeous- highly recommended!

I must say that this is only the second horror manga I have ever read (unless you count death note). I usually don't like this genre because it's so dark, but this one well I must say I'm impressed. It's hard for me to describe the way I felt while I read it but the art was very pretty and detailed. (Like was said earlier the background wasn't that detailed, but it didn't really matter to me since the story more than made up for it.) There is a good word for this manga in my language but I can't seem to grasp it quite in english. I guess "Impressed" is closest.
I would recommend it to anyone in search of something "different". It's dark, and a great change from the happy hoppy shoujo I usually read (the hoppy wasn't a typo).

i really enjoyed reading this manga. the situations were somewhat dark, but none of the situations were replusive. in fact i found myself anticipating the next plot development and i wish that story went past only one volume. i really liked the male protagonist. his 'evilness' was very attractive. i've read some manga's where the author tries to make the despicable nature of the guy to be his most attractive attribute and they never really connected with me, but this character was very well done in my opinion. actually all of the chaacters were pretty decent. the shoujo in me wanted them to end up together, even if that meant her death, but it was kind of open ended in that respect. anyways, this is a worth while read and a sequel would not be looked down upon.
The only good "dark" manga I've read...

[edit by mod, Warning: possible spoiler]
I have to disagree with Tokkun's review. I agree that the art is fantastic and striking, but I didn't find this story shallow at all. I'll admit that I had to stifle a giggle at the idea that every serial killer keeps a tidy little notebook - but in reality, it's often found that serial killers DO keep obsessive records of their kills. So while giving almost all of them a similar notebook might've been a little lax, it's not entirely implausible.
I do have to give a giggle at the idea of one girl encountering SO many serial killers in her young life. I mean, that's rather silly... but it works for the story. If one can't allow for a bit of unrealistic occurrences for the sake of a good story, one really shouldn't be reading manga. XD
All in all, I found the characters compelling and the story very well-done. The last chapter was one I had to re-read just to get the full impact of it - and once I realized how the author had twisted around my own perceptions to use them against me, I was even more entranced with the work as a whole. It's not often that someone "gets" me with a twist - and this one got me.
I've read a lot of "dark" manga... just because I like a bit of darkness to mix with the light, fluffiness of all the shoujo I read ;) Unfortunately, most of the darker mangas I've read have been completely pointless and not very striking or even anything remotely deserving of being called "horror". This was the exception to that - and an exceptional manga.

This manga reminded me a lot of a Quentin Tarantino movie: beautifully stylish, yet shallow.
The art is definitely the high point of the manga. While there is nothing particularly unique about it, it certainly fits the dark theme of manga. I found the character design for Yoru to be quite striking, but then I'm weak against characters with beauty marks. The grotesque anatomy of the murder victims was also suitably detailed to maintain the tone, showing that the artist has some versatility. Background scenes were not terribly detailed, but shadows and halftones were used effectively.
The story content in the manga was nothing particularly special. While some may find the "goth" attitudes of the characters and the accompanying dark themes to be exciting, I found it to be somewhat forced. I don't mean to be condescending to the readers who rated this as a 10/10, but Goth strikes me more as an effort to pander to goth/angsty teenage set than to create unique characters with real depth. The plot elements were fairly contrived as well (really, does every serial killer carry a notebook detailing their crimes), but these faults are easily forgivable in a oneshot.
While the author's attempt at creating a gothic atmosphere may be hit or miss for some readers, it is at least a refreshing change of pace, and the high-quality art makes up for whatever deficiencies exist in the story.

Loved the detail (especially in that second murder) and the story.. I kind of got confused at the end, but I think I was meant to...? I love the relationship between the main characters, and Kamiyama's views are so interesting.

The artwork is great with clear & vivid details (well, sometimes, too vivid). The story is interesting with clever twists here & there. Creepy, yes, but it's worth reading. Too bad that it has only 5 chapters.
