perfect example of a plot-driven manga

A fast-paced action with plot twists coming up one after another. Reading this feels like watching a big-budget Hollywood action blockbuster with its great action and nonexistent substance. It used the common ingredients and formula to make an action manga a bestseller and I think that it fairly succeeded in accomplishing what it set out to do. But that’s about it. By the eighth volume I couldn't stand the flat characters with overused plot and decided to skip to the last three chapters. Turned out nothing changes in the end. It's just bleaghh

What started out as a pretty decent story just ended up becoming too rushed and thrown together as it went on. Even though the "hacking" was always obviously fake, it just got to a point it was ridiculous what he did when he was "hacking", not being able to shut down a computer because you enabled a backup power supply? lol
At least one person commented about how the story picked up during the last 1/4th of it, I feel it was more rushed and crammed together to just finish the story with at least some sort of closure on every issue.

Most of the characters are dull, the good ones are StupidGood so much they should just die.
only readable because it's a fast release, it passes the time...
One of the mangas I read online, would be a bad idea to waste disk space on this.
I never felt anything for any characters, they are mere names. Plus the drawing is plain and does not convey anything.
I won't say anything about the hacking, it's just plain silly. I actually thought "wow it die hard 4 level here".
It's that bad. I can't even comprehend why some ppl wuld compare this to DN, I just can't.

Only Otoya has a bit of a backbone, but I wouldn't be astonished if he changed or died by the end of the manga

Not in plot, also in drawing style. but this is more believeable than DN. DN has lots of twist i never know could exist. its more pyschological there. this manga is more about technical. and yes, i think some of the things were plain laughable, but other than that... i should say this is quite an awesome manga.

Bloody Monday begins and it's 'good'. It's not bad. It's worth reading, but it isn't awesome.
But then, THEN it picks up momentum. And right now (volume 9) it's so ridiculously good, you can't pass on this.
There's plenty of action and suspense, and you actually come to care about some of the characters (Fujimaru though? Not so much. He's a bit carefree, doesn't have much of a deep past.) including the antagonists. In general, it isn't just a mindless read, there are many elements that are thought-provoking, you wonder 'how' or 'why' or 'what'. And it isn't an emotionless read either, there's certainly the emotional element (but that doesn't mean we're talking about the weak emotions - it's not some sappy romantic shoujo). It should be mentioned that at the beginning there seemed to be *some* romantic potential, and it's a little misleading, since the plot goes nowhere near it from then on. It should also be mentioned, while we're on the topic, that this manga is full of fine ass.
This manga has excellent art and story and... framing, I suppose you could put it. It's not just that the artist draws well. It's what he draws, the perspectives, the expressions, the tone and mood, and the settings. They're just spot-on.
At times, all the technobabble feels like a bit of a gimmick. And I suppose it is; the protagonist has to be good at something. And the plot is rather technology-centric as it's set in the modern day[?]. Another 'gimmick' the manga has is the 'psychological explanation' element, the manipulation of people based on their tendencies and such, but then that's always interesting to me and it doesn't feel as much like a gimmick.
Also, the protagonist *is* rather a moron, but he has his moments. There was one point in the story where I absolutely hated his guts because he was just that pathetic. He's since redeemed himself in my eyes.
But you'll just have to read it to believe it.

This story line could have been good. The idea is good, the arts is not bad, and you have characters you could have empathised with. However their is no suspense at all. They are just going through the motions. Its not a cat and mouse fight, its just a cat playing with a mouse. If you want good suspense read Death Note, it has far better execution.
The protagonist is an oxymoron

It aches me to read the manga because the genius is not that of a genius at all. He's supposedly all good at computer but he's not the kind of genius in Death Note or Lost+Brain. He's otherwise so stupid, completely stupid and slow in making decisions and judgment, not at least a 'rational actor' in some cases.

everything technical in this manga is wrong, laughable or just plain retarded. other than that it's completely run of the mill and the main guy goes from super genius to complete moron with the flip of a page sometimes.

I really like it and I agree that its similar to death note with the whole plans within plans sort of thing. I was hooked from Chapter 1 which is really appreciated. I give out 10's a lot but this one definitely deserves it in many ways. Great art too and the characters are mature. overall, this manga has a lot going for it!!

Awesome, another must read manga!
If u are talking about quality when reading, put this one on the list.
Both the story and art are very good. Also this plotting, hacking, srategies, virus are thrilled me!
But I agree that sometimes the main char makes stupid mistake... He would be helpless/defenseless without computer beside him.
Also he talks too much... always blabbering his tricks after the moment his enemies get tricked. And manytimes he told the trick to the enemies. Oh please...

like in ch 29-30, it was anoying why he couldn't shoot the gun to Maya or Houshou. How badass his image (genius hacker) he still a child with good personality. Unlike kira (Death Note). What annoyed me was.... he was thinking too much. The worst he did nothing to this terrorist and let himself get capture. At least, he could just hurt them when he was holding a gun... so they couldn't escape. He slipped the opportunity.
Also he talks too much... always blabbering his tricks after the moment his enemies get tricked. And manytimes he told the trick to the enemies. Oh please...
