Description
There is a Gothic-style mansion in a distant, rarely-visited part of Japan. There, the world's greatest surgeon, Naomitsu Madaraki, once lived but he hasn't come home in ages.
Instead, the professor's "daughter", Fran Madaraki, lives there with a large amount of her own ghoulish creations and her "younger sister" Veronica. She's a very unusual girl, what with the stitch patterns on her face and the giant bolts on either side of her head. Just as skilled at surgery as her father, and if you're willing to pay her price, she can do everything up to and including raising the dead. Fran believes ... More...

this was way above my expectations. i almost thought this was some guro hentai title when a friend of mine suggested this.
i gotta say it is original. the only thing i find comparable is Embalming: the Another Tale of Frankenstein.
not much to say yet since there isn't that much scanlated yet, but i have high hopes for the future

Can't commit to a single tone. There are comic chapters, straight horror chapters, mystery chapters, even sappy chapters...moreover, the characterization of Fran is highly inconsistent. Sometimes she's committed to helping others, sometimes she’s a cold-blooded surgeon-for-hire (sometimes directly harming people), and sometimes she just screws around with mad science, sometimes canny, other times naive. It doesn’t hang together very well. The pure comedy chapters do tend to be pretty funny, though, and black comedy series are never in great supply.
Genius!

I adore this manga. Seriously, I went into it hoping for horror, but found that it was dark comedy. However, I totally started reading and couldn't stop. I love Fran and her quirky bizarre gang of monstrous creatures. I wish we could get some more info on Madaraki though.

I hate horror [anything], but one look at the main character [Fran] sucked me right in! It has a perfect balance of horror, comedy, and morals. Yes, morals lol theres a moral to each story [generally..]. She loves what she does, and she does things for the greater power of love [and science sometimes lol]
Though some stories to have good endings, persay, some, like chpater 2, end in a different. . . way, with the moral still present >>
While i wouldnt call this guro, really, [if anyone has read the 'extra' at teh end of chapter 7 {even though its its own chapter of its own}] the fantasy 'movie' in it is sort of a guro-fanservice scene XD that made me die laughing
God i love this manga. XD

it is a rather violent and gory set of chapters, but usually have a reason for the madness, like a moral or something. Very interesting too seeing the manga-ka's imagination running wild.
usually has a hell of a punchline too

Read franken fran in one day is disturbing. When i saw unhappy birthday i could eat meat for one week; the head severed remind me eighties horror movies. But you can pre see (dont know the english word) the final. Ive did it at least 15 times; the last chapters were bad, I guess the autor is getting dry of ideas.
A light version of guro.
Can someone explain that chapter? I did not understand who killed the girl, and if she wanted to kill her father...

One of the few horror mangas I have ever read so far, Franken Fran was something that stood out from most well known mangas out there.
From the savage deaths of certain characters to moments that are quite amusing and humorous, Franken Fran is rather entertaining to read, and a refreshing as well.

I haven't seen anything like this lately. It always has a lingering humorous feeling, yet the stories are often gruesome.
May leave you slightly shocked by the often sudden outcomes on each story, but wanting to see more.

Absolute FAV!! It's definitely in my Top manga list!
The main characters intrigued me the most. Fran has different philosophical views on the value of human lives. The whole Gore and twistedness of the plot adds in more "UMPH-ness" in this awesome AWESOME MAnga *_____*
You'll know it once you READ IT LAWL! *It might not be as gory as Gantz but ah well...you'll see!*
