Lol so it's pretty basic shoujo, and that girl is so dense but pfffft the shoujo genre certainly isn't lacking in the 'dense heroine' department, I've gotten so used to it I don't care anymore. Maybe it's because the last 20 or so series I've been reading are all adult/tragedy/suspense/gore, but this was just what I needed to make me all happy inside again. lol.
I agree with the comments that say it's repetitive, but I finished the entire series in 2 hours so....it wasn't that bad. Anyway I liked the heroine, she was really cute. Those middle-eastern outfits are also really beautiful~ <3

Considering this was published in Lala, I wasn't expecting much, but wow, this was so bad I had write a review to rant/keep others away from this.

As previous reviewers have said, the female lead is beyond annoying. Honestly speaking, it's like she's pms-ing throughout the entire manga. The male lead is your typical cool-headed shoujo guy, but he's tolerable.

On the whole, the story could have knocked down the cliches generally associated with shoujo (the set-up was completely there), but it didn't get there. It didn't get there at all. There was a little bit of me that hoped that this would do that when I read the description, but really why was I so optimistic? This features your typical royalty shoujo/josei set-up mixed with superficial obstacles and annoying personalities. Ookami no Heika no Hanayome is a much better story if you want a well-executed shoujo about royalty.

Overall, if you're looking for a light-read, this is fine. If you're looking for something even remotely unique and different, look elsewhere.

I managed to finish this, but goddamn. Euda being so tsun tsun towards Johane got on my nerves quickly. At least Johane and his past was more interesting, other than the art. Otherwise this manga's nothing special. Just a read to kill time, if you're that bored.

I couldn't finish reading this 'cos the lead female's character growth is super duper slow. It was really annoying how every chapter so far, involved her having to be "saved" and not once, does anyone have the common sense to increase security around her or take other counter-measures to protect her. Now, I don't mind some sentimentality like getting all weepy and mournful and so on(since it's human to show a range of emotions), but she never stops crying ever. After a few moments of putting up a strong and prickly front, she'll burst into tears after a while. bigrazz

And worse, neither of the main characters ever learn from some of their mistakes. I'd normally ignore issues like these but the writing revolves around certain aspects of the plot. And not once have they picked up any hints! A shame since many other aspects were quite good and well laid-out: from the character interactions to the setting of this story and why it makes so much sense when a "forced or sham marriage" doesn't always work out. And for a shoujo, it does have a fair amount of realism about the effects of war and it's not the wish fulfillment type either.

However, those who don't mind such flaws would find the story really to their liking. It's got quite a spin on a normal shoujo romance and also, it's not about school life.

For those who liked or disliked this title, I also recommend The Prince's Cactus where the protagonists are quite strong and also spend their entire time bickering. smile

Starts off fantastically and romantic but around the end I was getting bored of all the governmental conspiracies that were getting away in their love. It did have a nice ending though.

Amazing manga! Absolutely amazing. I haven't read one this good in a while. Its only 4 volumes, but doesn't leave with the 'I wish there was more' or unsatisfied feeling. bigrazz The couple is so cute and funny. They are pure awesomeness together. lol There is a good mix of romance, action, those tear jerking moments (I was balling near the end... lol) and humor (of course bigrazz ). I give it an 11 really. But that's not an option for the ratings... So meh... ^-^

A little more than just a love story...

This manga is primarily a love story, a light and pretty fluffy one at that. But that doesn’t mean the plot is simple. No, there is some pretty interesting and unique ideas in here that make this manga, while still light and fluffy, worth the read.

Plot- The plot seems relatively straightforward, a political marriage to halt a war, however it is no a simple story. The story dips into the world of politics, the two main characters soon getting caught up in the middle of many different political agendas that they must carefully navigate through, for one wrong step could mean their death (literally). I like how this story brought in some politics while remaining a light read, there’s not going to anything that makes your brain hurt just reading it, but the different ideas and opinions about war and peace and other political things were interesting, and yet easy, to read.

Characters- The two mains, Johane and Euda, make a very cute couple. Johane is pretty straightforward, confident and yet caring. Euda levels Johane’s violence off with her gentle spirit and love for everyone. They are really a great couple and you can’t help but love them. The secondary characters aren’t bad either, but they don’t stand out to much, you learn at least a little about each secondary character to at least be able to like or dislike them.

Art- The art is nice, boxy but nice. It may take some getting used to but once you do the art is actually very nice and portrays the story excellently.

Other- I have two main issues with the story (not that they make me like it less or anything…), one is that annoying recap we get like…every chapter! I get it, I’ve been reading the story, you don’t need a recap every single chapter! The second issue is Euda, she continually ‘defends’ herself against Johane (yeah, she’s shy…) and yet when she’s attacked (which usually happens…) she is completely helpless. I understand that she isn’t a fighter but really, she’s in danger and she can’t do much. Other than those two little issues the story is very nice, with enough mystery and action to keep it from being just a boring love story. I definitely recommend this manga!

7/10- Really liked it

First of all, the art is beautiful! truly captivating and well drawn smile
The Story in my opinion is somewhat unique! 2 people from different countries who hate each other come together.. that, i have never encountered in all my manga reading days!
I love the balance between romance and action. The action and plots between enemies truly kept the story interesting! It also has a touch of comedy that mixed well with everything else
I absolutely loved this manga and would love to read it again later on in life smile
A manga that is worthy of your time.
Highly Recommended. You won't regret it

repetative

nice premise, and i enjoyed the way the mangaka drew the female lead at times.

but it really got repetative after a while. female lead would get angry at male lead/ female lead gets in trouble/ male lead comes to the rescue.

gets done time...and time....and time again. got too boring and dropped it towards the end of volume 3
