I thought this manga is going to be something different and thus, I gave it a try. I know how things will be going for Ran when ...
Oh, and ~ at first I thought Sei was the main character but it seems that there's isn't anything in her role. She feels empty...like a vessel... [I don't know if anything is going to change later on but I was hoping for something from her... lolz... maybe that will change in the later chapters... i dont know... =/ ]
Having to have read up to chapter 27, I think the plot is just plain average. So far, the scene was just fighting and repeating itself
and yeah as per the previous comment, why is everybody (well, not everybody but most of them) falling for Ran?? I know Ran was supposed to be another main character but I feel that she's taking up a lot of the limelight...
talking about romance... there's pretty little romance other than the obvious pairings.
There's isn't much character development for Sei and Ran...everything feels shallow so hmm... I guess I'll continue reading to see how it goes...
Don't read this if you're expecting a lot of romance from this.
Read it if you're free and into the art/knight story plot.

Ibara realized that Ran is a girl. Yeh, common plot -> They will not see Ran as a boy anymore... yeh... and the plot suddenly changes to imply signs of romance between them... hmmm okay...

e.g. "Ran's getting emotional which affects her fighting spirit...then Ibara comes along and motivated her" plot. I know Ran's a girl and may tend to feel emotional and get carried away but I was hoping something...

I started reading this one from the point when the first chapter was scanlated. It managed to hook me up completely. The drawings are incredibly beautiful and the characters are portrayed very nicely, their expressions hold their feelings, it's like you see the whole life of a person and how he/she feels.
I am impressed about Ibara. He is probably the most complex character out of all.
Serious yet funny at the same time, it does not need anything else that could attract your attention, i definitely recommend it for any shoujo manga lover, it must not be overlooked nor underestimated.

Even though at first I thought that this would be a boring love triangle between an engaged couple and a third wheel I was impressed by the fact that he does not care for just Sei but for her knight as well and also for the other characters that pop up later on. It might not be a problem now, since the plot reaches the culminant point but later on if this will become a typical shoujo manga, then he will have to choose one.

I just read chapter 23, and it was the biggest cliffhanger of LIFE! GAHHH I want more now! But anyway, onto my rating... I really really enjoy this manga. The concept isn't exactly new, but the art is well done and the characters are well defined.
I love Sei, because she's not the typical spoiled rich girl who wants everything for herself. She's kind hearted and wants the people around her to be happy. We usually see her as a rather stoic girl, but in reality she suffers because the people precious to her are getting hurt because of the ridiculous family system that has developed. She sees Ran and Ibara falling in love with each other, but instead of being jealous and angry, she's actually happy.
Although a lot of people say that they would rather have Sei and Ibara get together, I think the relationship between Ibara and Ran is rather beautiful. Instead of him exerting his status as a man over her and trying to force her out of the position as first knight like Rin did, he supports her and lets her choose her own path. Isn't that what love is all about? I think Sei will ultimately find her own person to be with as the story goes on.
Ran is so strong and it's so nice to see. I hate shoujo mangas where the girls are all whiny and can't even do a single thing for themselves. But Ran is different. She's independent, strong willed, and so determined that she puts other shoujo characters to shame. I just hope she doesn't change, like Makino from Boys Over Flowers (I loved her at first because she was so spunky and not afraid to stand up for herself, but her love for Doumyouji totally ruined her character). I want Ran to stay the strong woman she is now.
Ibara is a sweetheart, and the other knights are wonderful as well. I can't wait to see how this story develops because I absolutely love it. I'm actually restless with anticipation! Perhaps many of you will find the story boring and unrealistic (but then again, since when was a manga ever realistic?), but personally, I find it inspiring and wonderfully touching. The art is beautiful. For people like me who enjoy headstrong heroines, harems that aren't just for the sake of looking at bishies, and a kind, non-sabotaging supporting female character, then you will most definitely enjoy this manga.
Lots of twists and turns too!

yeah sure, the art is great, but can't say the same for the plot. everyone seems to be falling for ran, while sei is just plain weird. till now, ran is still the same as ever, fighting for sei which is, to me is kinda dumb even though it's a manga.
quite nice

Is it wrong of me to want Sei with Ibara, her rightful fiance? I just can't grasp how down to earth and open hearted Sei is. She's actually happy that Ibara and Ran are developing feelings. She doesn't look hurt from her expressions either. Both Sei and Ran are lucky to have each other (girl bonding!!).

When I laid eyes on this, I was extremely interested given that the heroine is strong, unique, refreshing, and the situation and environment was pretty promising.
Of course, now that it's continuing a bit, I'm slightly wary of how it's going to turn out. Like another reviewer said, I'm hoping that it won't end up as a sort of cliched thing where Ran ends up wanting to be protected by a man and falling in love and turning girly (as evidenced by that one chapter where Ran just up and fainted). I'd definitely go for adding some more swordplay to the manga, too. Lots of fighting, action, and strong female leadness. I actually don't want Ran to be paired up with any of the males in the manga. For some reason I think it'd be a lot more interesting if she focused on her duty without getting into romance, and the manga portrayed the obstacles and the trials she had, both physical and mental, on her way to accomplishing her goal. Much more satisfying than having Ran be the first knight, but having another knight also protect her.
I'm still reading this manga, but my hopes for it have diminished very slightly. Please, let there be more action and cool potential, instead of it degenerating into a generic shoujo love triangle tension fest. Focus on the plot and the violence!

This manga covers a wide range of aspects that create a successful mangaa
Firstly, Nishikata's artwork fails to displease once again as our heroine this time is bound as a male butler and attends to her female master's needs.
There is that ever now and then humor that just gets you smiling but generally, its a manga thats all cool and butler actions type >.<
The storyline is quite unique and fairly indifferent from other stories so cliches aren't a constant.
its an AMAZZZIIIINNNGGGGGG MANGAAAAAAA

Ran is amazing. She can kick butt and be awesome, but I have the sinking feeling that this is going to turn into, 'Yup. She's great. But the guy's GREATER!' I really hope it doesn't become like that, because even though I've only read 10 chapters, I really enjoy this manga! I love strong heroines, and Ran is cool. The plot is very interesting, and I have to say I'm hooked. I pray deeply that the old, 'Heroine is the best... until the hero shows up' doesn't happen, because that would ruin a potentially amazing story.
