Description
Kagome is a modern Japanese high-school girl. Never the type to believe in myths and legends, her world view dramatically changes when, one day, she's pulled out of her own time and into another! There, in Japan's ancient past, Kagome discovers more than a few of those dusty old legends are true, and that her destiny is linked to one legendary creature in particular--the dog-like half-demon called Inuyasha! That same trick of fate also ties them both to the Shikon Jewel, or "Jewel of Four Souls." But demons beware...the smallest shard of the Shikon Jewel can give the user unimaginable power...

I don't know why people call the manga 'ugly'. ôo Of course the drawings are way different from other mangas, but that's just Takahashis style and I really like it, BECAUSE it is different. It's only my opinion, though. ^^ The characters have a good depth (this goes especially for Inuyasha), but I also like the ones from Ranma 1/2 and Kyokai no Rinne (although this story is not as much interesting as Inuyasha and I have to admit that some of the characters are still lacking something). I also think there are a lot of other animes, which look even better than the mangas (like One Piece or Fairy Tail), so this doesn't only go for Takahashis mangas. Well, at least it depends on the taste wether you like the drawings or not - I, for example, can't stand the way some shôjo mangas are drawn - but somehow you can say that the art itself has to be related to the genre and the story. That's how I deal with it. Just imagine Inuyasha, One Piece or Fairy Tail drawn in a shôjo-way or the other way around! It gives me the creeps! :'D So if you're not to aversed by the drawings I can only recommend to read this manga. b(^.~)d Although it will take a looong time since there are 56 volumes, it's real fun to follow the story with all the up and downs.
Good Read

It is one of my favorites, but after the few hundred chapters go by, it gets too repetitive, like the story has too many "mini quests" along the way that give small clues about the real problem, which would be Naraku. I feel like the series could have been condensed a bit because it just got so boringly repetitive. But overall, it is a good read that i would recommend.

This manga is great for a shounen, I usually dislike them, but this is going in my favorites. I'm not going to post why because I don't want to spoil anything, but this manga is a great read.
An old favorite.

This manga has a special place in my heart, and always will. It's a very good manga, a bit too long and i didn't like the ending, but apart from that, it's enjoyable.
The plot is simple and easy to follow, the main characters have depth and entertaining personallitys, and over time you really get attached to them. The art is very nice too, Takahashi's style is never boring. The action is amanzing, the battles don't drag on and on, linke im many other shounen series, and Takahashi just draws the best blood.
I love this my manga with all my heart, I don't think about it as a masterpiece, but it's definetly one of the better series in the shounen genre, with great action, a nice plot and very loveable characters. Definetly worth reading.

If you've read Inuyasha, you know its good.
It has one of the best love triangles EVER found in manga, and the characters are all unique. It definitely doesn't suffer from cliche anime/manga syndrome. However it suffers the next worse thing-- Takahashi's never ending manga syndrome.
Inuyasha could've been excellently completed in 10 volumes. There really hasn't been new material added for a long time now-- only remixes of existing themes. She just keeps adding plot devices that aren't really necessary... WE GET THE POINT!
If it is an indication, I dropped this manga years ago around vol 33... only to have come back and start reading it from vol 50 or so. I didn't miss anything, I was able to understand immediately what was going on (Naraku and Inu-tachi are still duking it out, and Inuasha got a few upgrades along the way). Even after I returned to catch up the missed volumes, I soon found it was just a waste of time.
I sincerely hope that some fan group decides to start a "Abbreviated Inuyasha project" in which copy pastes of the manga are rearranged into ~10-15 volumes and finally bring Inuyasha the glory this excellent manga truly deserves.

It's still ongoing? this needs to stop. The manga is good, but they need to complete the jewel and kill the bad dude...It's way too long. I stopped reading around vol 40, thinking, I'll read it when it finally finishes, but it's already almost 60. Rumiko needs to stop this.

It's a pretty good story but as I'm sure everyone has mentioned it is looong and needs to be done. (Not that I don't love long manga it's just I need some closure with this.) So browsing this Naruko is still kicking D: You'd think someone would bless us and kill him

OK I was an InuYasha freak when I first saw the anime. I loved it. So when it ended I continued reading the mangas. However, its getting far to repitious and long for even my bookreading/ manga loving self. The newest chapter ends by saying "The beginning of the final battle" ok How many "Final" battles have their been now... like 30. I will keep reading Inu just because after all this it better be a pretty good ending. However, I hope this "final battle" is actually the "FINAL BATTLE" that would be nice!

during the series each character interacts with all the other charas (one per episode).. and it gets quickly boring and annoying at times;
i'm a takahashi's fan so i'm used to repetitive plots but this is too much even for me, besides theres very little romance and the relationship between the charas are already settled in the early volumes.
the fight are not even that interesting because there are no martial arts but just one big slash of tessaiga ,that black holes and the big boomerang and its all finished! (this happens everytime!!) its really no fun :-D
