This is the first manga ever (I've read thousands) to actually send shivers down my back. To be exact, it's two scenes, the first with Yuuko's past when she was still alive in the basement, and the second when we see the face of the evil ghost in detail in chapter 13 for the first time. Neither are scary, but the first one is kind of revolting and the second REALLY creepy. Very nice effects there, *SPOILER* if you compare Yuuki's usually gentle and beautiful appearance to this mad predating form of hers *SPOILER*.

Really, I can't decide wether to give this one a 8 or 9 rating, it's too good for an eight but it somehow can't decide wether to be unique or just another (albeit very good) mystery mainstream with attached horror, which is why I won't give it a 10.

Or maybe that's just me. I define a series as frightening, if it haunts me after I stop reading it. This just makes you think about it. But it's a good read with a good premise - Yuuko-san is likeable, and so is Niiya. The fact is that each chapter runs on a "mystery/rumour" about finding out which one is the real reason for Yuuko's death - which isn't surprising because that's basically the whole plot right there as outlined in the summary. It's enjoyable, especially Yuuko's affection for Niiya. Art is good, expressions are good, and backgrounds are beautiful. Go read it.

At its core the hook behind this series is the mystery behind Yuuko's existence and her relations to the characters around her. It's very interesting and well done when the series is exploring these ideas... BUT!

The series spends more than half its chapters on episodic "solve the ghost story that never has a real ghost" mysteries while completely ignoring and delaying everything about Yuuko. Frankly it could've been half the length and I would've given it eight stars.

The series is also perverted in a weird way. There's the usual manga romcom stuff of falling and grabbing boobs and breast envy from the flat character, but the author also gets weirdly into the idea of them being school kids. In one panel where he shows off all the school kids in their swimsuits and says how sexy they are, he draws the only adult in the series as a chibi saying "I don't want to draw adults." He also repeatedly says in author notes how appealing junior high school kids are. I wish authors would keep their fetishes to themselves rather than inserting it into their work.

I love the dynamic between the ghodt and mc, i like how original the story is and love the balance of horror and comedy

Overall great story, great characters, deserves an award

Wow. . for some reason i'm drawn into the story and the funny part is its only 5 chapters FTW!? anyway there is a plot and a somewhat mystery to it. . hope that it goes uphill rather than down, lets wait and see. . and another problem is its a bit slow. . 2 volumes after 2 years? its going to be a long wait. .

A nice romance with an intriguing mystery. The art is really well done in this manga, really it's one of the strongest points that it has. The story has a nice sense of pacing, and I get the feeling that the artist had a definite ending in mind when he started. Things start out lighthearted but also get appropriately dark when it needs to, especially near the end when you find out more about Yuuko's past. A little something seems to be missing for me when it comes to the characters, a few of the side characters kind of have a habit of disappearing from the story for one. Teiichi also, while not a bad character, is pretty bland a lot of the time.

Not much bad to say, an interesting story with great art and a good ending. It also has a nice length, at 45 chapters it doesn't feel like it stays around too long. Would recommend.

This isn't really that scary, and it's not entirely creepy. Its more mystery than horror, but it does count as horror because of the atmosphere the mangaka puts the characters in. But theres comic relief so it lightens a mood a bit.
As for chapters, the first chapter was only published as a one shot in 2008 in Gangan Powered. Then it released in Gangan joker 2009 summer and continued from then.
To be honest the story isn't extremely concrete. The story line is a bit weak at times but either way its a good manga to read.

OMGGGGGGGGGGG. well, i'm the type of person who gets easily scared, so take my review with a grain of salt. soooo i read up to ch13? and like... there's something seriously messed up with that school. it has SOOO many freaking murder/ghost stories! and there is definitely something wrong with yuuko. the author has yet to tell us what is wrong, but she definitely creeps me out. i totally understand the other girl who can see her and how she's freaked out. i would be too, especially since ghosts don't stay here because they just feel like it.................. arghhhh... but ionno, it's good and it definitely gets more interesting as it goes on. it's just a little weird/creepy for my taste...

No, really, jokes aside...

The art is wonderful, fanservice is nice and bearable (actually this guy seems to put more detail in the legs more than anything else LOL ) but the story... mmmh ...

Let's say this looks like a poorly planned series to me. The harem is ok, all romantic implications are nice planned, but that's it.
Ok, there are some wannabe-scary moments but the characters seems to overreact too much over silly things ruining everything

If you're into harem and romantic delusions, read this. However, don't expect too much from the horror side.
