Description
This could be any girl. Imagine being a heroine of a love story. Hatori also believed that one day she would get married to her childhood friend, Rita.

But that's not how the world works! This is a hilarious comedy that honestly paints a painful unrequited love story of this young girl!

I like how unconventional the plot is. I say unconventional because, while it is not devoid of cliches, it's actually unpredictable to a certain extent. The childhood friend shit is overused and all, but since the main character is so annoying and stupid, I was not able to accurately predict what was going to happen next. That, however is the only redeeming quality of this manga. I might change my mind as I read on, but as of Chapter 11 there has been no character development and I still hate the lead character.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: I just read the end of Chapter 11. I am giving up on this manga. I said it was unpredictable to a certain extent because there were twists and turns (which were generally annoying). We all know who's going to end up with whom. I continued reading because I wanted to see how events will turn out. But at this point, I don't care anymore.

Read it because of Hiromitsu

Those two idiots really belong together. Hatori and Rita.
There should be a solo story for Hiromitsu and/or Nakajima. The only two characters in the story that made any sense.

This manga started as a relly well done satire of the most typical shojo manga but writen from the point of the "bad guy", the evil rival. This was funny as hell and you really wanted rita to never return her feelings.

BUT THEN the mangaka had no more ideas left and swiched from satire to the real stuff. Everything seems just annoying now and after a lot of people spoiled the end, I don't even know, if I want to read the rest of it.

At the beginning, I really love this manga. It have an amazing and unique storyline, and I like how the author sometime draw the character with such a funny face. I laugh everytime I see Hatori's comedic face. But after I read the spoiler about the ending, I was really disappointed. Why she choose Rita? Everybody can see Hiromitsu kun's way tooo better than Rita.
Ugh, just like the title, Hatori fail as a heroine. How stupid!

HEAR ME OUT

Okay, for all of you out there who has already read this manga, you might be thinking WHAT IN THE F*CK'S TARNATION IS GOING ON HERE. For everyone who hasn't read it yet, give it a try before you let other people's review convince you it isn't good. Yea, I was cursing at this manga when I was reading it but I thought it was kind of special. Not your everyday cliche.. At first I was like what the hell is the mangaka doing.. but I started to notice the meaning was deeper. Maybe she was trying to show us that when we're at that age, we were reckless and confused. Rita was confused. Hatori was confused. And that's why they two timed. They didn't understand what their really meant. HEAR ME OUT.

What caught me first about this manga was the drawing. The heroine isn't always pretty. She can look so ridiculous but it's still so funny. It gets me cracking every time. But as time went on, I REALLY WANTED TO FCKING SHAKE HER. The number 1 character that I like the most is the supporting best friend "Nakajima". She's the smartest one out of the bunch but no one ever takes her advice..it's maddening

Hatori: This crazy woman! WTH IS WRONG WITH HER. WHY CAN'T SHE GIVE UP. I mean I thought she was so strong for not giving up at first but he is a TOTAL jerk..He doesn't even LOVE her as a woman. More like a sister. They both don't understand that. When she finally..FINALLY starts falling in love with Hiromitsu..Rita was like..I love you..REALLY? FCKING REALLY NOW?
Rita: HE IS SO SELFISH. HE CAN'T MAKE UP MIND. He doesn't care about anyone else's happiness but his own...knowing Hatori will ALWAYS be there for him no matter what and at his beck and call..-_- He's just a lonely, cruel boy
Hiromitsu: My only one complaint is that he was messing around at first..but he fell so in love with her in the end (so far)...ugh I hope Hatori ends up with him or I'll punch a b*tch. She's really stupid with her feelings -_-

This is a manga where a plain girl falls in love with a guy and another girl that's been bestfriends with the guy secretly loves him, but no matter what she does, she always loses to the plain girl. This manga is exactly that but for once its from the jealous bestfriends point of view smile I like it .

EDIT: hmm went back to it and I skimmed through the while thing.. Found it boring...

I unexpectedly like this a lot. It's hilarious and really unlike most shoujos that I read. I really did not expect to like this. It's refreshing and smart. I agree with Criminal Intent on all points. Anyway, I'm really enjoying this right now and hopefully it will develop into a really good series. I have high hopes for this one. biggrin

annoying cast of characters

This manga started out with so much potential. I absolutely loved the premise of it. But then Rita killed it. His character is so pathetically wishy-washy and annoying and indecisive and inconsiderate and selfish and etc. etc. I don't know what in the world makes Hatori attracted to him. Is it because he's her childhood friend? I could not, for the life of me, understand why she is so obsessed with him. I actually stuck it out for Hiromitsu.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
But the author dealt him a losing hand. Actually I felt conned. I don't recall a single moment that made Rita a redeeming character. This author really lead you to believe that Hiromitsu was the one, up until the last few chapters where she magically decided she still liked Rita afterall. Ugh. Puke.

Hiromitsu is definitely the only good thing in this manga. I'm so annoyed.

Ugh...
Started out well... and then everything went downhill. The main girl is absolutely relatable and hilarious, but the main male lead just made everything uncomfortable for me. His indecisive manner and actions just pointed to his immaturity--i could not sympathize.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I fell in love with the storyline before the girl went all obsessive over the guy despite having a cool guy nearby. She was funny, but eventually she turned too desperate...

And why would she end up with Rita ??? ? That's so stupid. Rita seemed genuinely in love with Adachi up to a certain point of the manga. I understand that Rita's not perfect and stuff, but still..... I just UGH.

I started reading it because it has two crossovers with Hirunaka no Ryuusei, and I absolutely adore HnR. At first, I just kept hoping it would get better, but it never really did.

I'd like that Hatori has bad points more if she had any good points to balance them out. She doesn't, really. I'd enjoy watching her struggle if she learned anything from it, but she doesn't. All she does is think about Rita, or think about trying not to think about Rita. He's her entire world, and it's annoying at best, but just as often it's rather disturbing.

Rita started off okay, but once he started dating Adachi, Hatori starting pushing him, and he turns out to be wishy-washy and spineless, the kind of guy who hurts people because he can't make a decision.

A lot of people seem to dislike Adachi, probably because she's treated like a personification of the Perfect Shoujo Heroine trope. I haven't read to the end yet, so I don't know what happens to her, but I feel like Hatori and Rita are kind of ruining her. Adachi has dreams of her own, beyond being with Rita, and they're just dying.

Nakajima's great, though. If there were a manga with Nakajima as the heroine, I would read it so hard. And Hiromitu's all right.

I'll probably keep reading to the end, simply because I've gotten as far as I have, but at this point it feels like I'm just trying to beat it. I already know how it ends, having knowingly read a spoiler in another comment. I think knowing just keeps me from getting my hopes up.

Also, a note for those wanting to read the crossovers... They were both written after Heroine Shikkaku finished, so yes, they do contain a certain spoiler. Not that it's a surprising one, though.
