Yuri, a pretty Japanese girl, is ecstatic after passing her college entrance exam and having her first kiss with her childhood friend-turned-boyfriend. However, her luck soon changes. She starts to notice that water becomes agitated whenever she goes near it. One night, hands appear out of a puddle on the street and drag her into the water. Transported to an ancient village in the Middle East, she is then captured by armed troops and taken to the Queen's palace for a human sacrifice.

Total 11 attempted rape with 5 different man........how worse author tried to make Yuri strong just to escape...in last seconds from rape....
..the character Yuri intentionally gets in such bad situations...
...she cannot push nor punishes..nor attempt to harm the man who tried to rape her...
....
.. she's supposedly strong. She's a Mary Sue. And this manga is supposedly a "rare, good shoujo with a strong heroine, good characters and plot".
And even if she wasn't supposed to be strong, she could at least try fighting back, not just lay there batting her eyes like a lamb.>.>
Instead of fighting against those rapist she forgives them easily as if nothing happened and becomes friend with them...what the hell---this give wrong message to society
And what more instead of fighting against the rapist she compromised with them as if nothing happend and is on friendly them--- that's wrong message to society
Two male characters raped her twice...twice!!....hell ..if they would have been punished earlier they would have not attempted second time...but hella our heroine is very mercyful and she forgives easily to any one......this type of female lead is joke/////
Attempted rape and heroines acting like this(something which enrages me) is really common in shoujo - especially smut - but Anatolia Story which actually takes itself seriously and pretends to be deep and having an empowered female lead and blahhhh, follows the same clichéd path of stupidity...>.> This makes all the abuse much, MUCH worse.
What a horrible, horrible manga. And not just because of the attempted rape.

The male lead, Kail, thinks and says he loves the female lead, Yuri, but his actions say and indicate the opposite.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
1. He doesn't want Yuri get back to her world, so, he become anxious about it; and, what does he do? He tries to rape her. She constantly tells him to stop, but he's only focused in HIS desires, his want. She was terrified, and calling for help, but, nobody went to help her, because just as he says, "I rule this country. I am King! I can have anything I want!". So, Yuri starts to call Hadi and fortunately she goes to help her and, begs Kail to do not do that. He insists in Yuri is his concubine, etc. Hadi keeps begging to Kail to please do not do that. Yuri shouts "Hadi!", and then Kail realizes how much Yuri is terrified from him (she was crying and shivering).
2. After Yuri got back to where Kail was, after she had the miscarriage and was taken care of by Ramses and his doctors in Egypt (the ship where she traveled was sunk by Nakia's schemings and Yuri nearly dies), the first thing Kail does is trying to have sex with her.
She just lost their baby! And Kail behaves like that. :/ :(
So, she stops him, and asks him for his forgiveness because she lost their baby. He says the gods fell in love with him (baby) and wanted him back, and now he's wishing them happiness. Then, Kail says: Translation 1: He's happy she came back to him / Translation 2: the greatest sorrow would have been to lose her.
After that, they have sex, and he asks her why Ramses didn't force himself on her.
Super inconsiderate to be asking that after she was suffering and crying because of her miscarriage. :/
Honestly, I had thought that the moment Kail saw Yuri again, he would ask her how she's feeling after all she went through. Emotional support. Not sex.

It is a good story. The art is good, the author knows what they are doing.
It needs to cut to the chase. There are too many problems coming up.
Would be 10/10 if it wasn't so dragged out, but if you enjoy long stories then this might be for you.

I went to the twelfth volume before I decided to just cut to the end. I did not miss anything too big. The 16 volumes that I have skipped are not missed. It really goes long.
Would be 10/10 if it wasn't so dragged out, but if you enjoy long stories then this might be for you.
Be prepared! I'm warnin' ya! This manga isn't all bubbly and cliched but intense and beyond genius!

One thing that I loved was the heroine ,she was ruthless,kind-hearted,humble, she is truly a gem. Not ur typical shoujo manga heroine eh?
The male lead was awesome as well, it made me feel that he was romeo,unable to live without her ahhhh the feels~
I also loved the fact that the heroine enchants anyone she meets, and there you have it! It's turned into a reverse harem!
Even if u don't like historical manga, perhaps give this one a go! U won't regret the 90+ chapters!

I disagree with some people that complain that this series is too long. In fact I crave for more volumes because I really love this manga. If you really appreciate and love this, then 28 volumes of manga is not enough to satisfy your inner passion.
Try to read the manga to the end and stop commenting that Yuri is a weak girl when you only read the first volumes. Of course Yuri is a bit weak-willed at first because she is suddenly thrown out in the past without much knowledge and companion. But Yuri proves to be the stronger than any Hittie army could handle and became the key to Kail's succession to the throne.
The manga is epic, original and truly a gem. It pushes the boundaries of shoujo cliches.
I cannot count on how many times I've read this again and again.
This my number 1 favorite shoujo manga of all time and I would completely cherish this for the rest of my life.

I loved this book!!!! The story plot was AWESOMENESS, though the beginning is kind of weird..... Anyways if u like stories with ROMANCE and ACTION then u would like this story.
It's pure shoujo ^_^. Very nice though, but still very unbelievable. But that's ok here, because main characters are so brave and good and heroic, that even being unbelievable, their actions are inspiring)). Main characters aren't irritating at all, as it often occurs in other such manga, though it's funny, how everything always goes Yuri's way (except evil plots, which are the main engine of the story). The love line is also quite nice and shoujo'ish. It's a good manga for teenage girls. But I found it a bit boring for women ^^;
Same goes to me! It's takes me too long time putting this on my wish list and started to read it (my biggest regret this yeah =))) One of the bestest from the best manga I ever read! When read this manga, I didn't even get time to breathing. The plot is really great, the characters also have same great. There's not much manga I've read has a true strong heroine, I mean really strong! I can't say no more, this is very great manga and you'll be fool if you don't read it yet!

I really love this manga! AWESOME!!! Prince Kail is so sweet~~ I got Kail fever for days after reading this >__<
What I don't like is only one. Shinohara-sensei didn't wanna to write about Yuri's family which she left behind. At least sensei could tell a little about their condition. I'm so curious how they manage their life after Yuri went missing...

I enjoy the story. The girl seems to be trapped in another time but is saved by a prince of the area and the two fall in love with each other eventually. Yuri can't decide if she wants to return to Japan or stay with Kail for eternity, but in the end makes the right choice. The thing that bothers me is that alarmist as soon as Yuri and Kail are together an things are peaceful, something bad happens (usually caused by Nakia). I do like the love between Kail and Yuri and find it endearing to see them so committed to each other and worried about each other when they are apart (cause normally something bad happens when they are apart). It was a decent read that kept me wanting to know what would happen next. And, it seems Yuri and Kail are together and happy for a short before something happens that splits them apart. Then, something happens to Yuri later on in the story that makes me sad to see because Yuri worries about what Kail will think when he hers about what happened to her. There are just moments, like that, that tear my heart up to see happen.
