Plot may be confusing, I got lost on some points. It may be the translator or the mangaka's fault, but after rereading some parts over, it all made sense. I don't know why everyone is saying that this series has no story, I see the story and its great. Just do a little rereading and word it up in a way you'll understand a bit on whatever part you're confusedon and it'll become clear. Only problem is that he tries to detail it too much, so its like the past takes over the present in some of the volumes...

Art is good...fan service is good...plot/story confusing but understandable if you read it over again lol however this manga is just loosing steam...

yeah i really didnt like this manga i think cause it was so weird to me i dont know maybe if it was labeled in fantasy then i might be ok with it but i dont know...when i read the first couple of volumes the word 'gay' came to my mind when i read it but thats just my opinion of the manga

the fights and story progression gets better and they explain everything in detail, but a little too detailed. the first 7 or 8 volumes is about maya's family history then it gets more into Nagi's story then bounces back and forth with maya's family heritage again. the art does suck because that was the lazy style art back in the 90s, but the art style changes as the decade passes by. the art style definitely gets better and it doesn't look like someone sketched or doodled it anymore. definitely recommended, but i suggest you watch the anime including the ova before you get into the manga.

I started reading this series because I liked the sex and violence. But, halfway through, it started recounting japanese history and the story becomes a convoluted blob of nonsense. I couldn't even make heads or tails of what was happening or why.

Gratuitous sex and violence. That sounds exciting, but it's not. The senselessness of it all makes it tedious. And the art isn't even consistently good.

How I wish there were scanlations in those days, so I didn't have to judge a shrink-wrapped manga by its cover (as I frequently had to do). Then I never would have bought this crap.

I stopped reading this manga somewhere around chapter 90 because the story got so wayward. This manga is really only appealing because of the art and the fact that there's fighting in it. But there are other manga with fighting in it that have very good art and better storytelling.

oh! this one is "great".. I really love the artwork, never mind all the naked bodies. It acutally had some unexpected turns happening PLUS the main characters get beaten up like all the other ones and actually loose as well. (which for me is a sign that its a good manga because i hate it when they just keep on winning and winning, it just gets booring)
good ingredients for the story- some mythology, revenge, supernatural abilities, fights, history, genealogy, romance and "dark secrets from the past".
I just find it amazing that they got up to vol. 18 and the reader still doesn t know of everything that s going on, so theres still potential for the plot to grow.

I can't believe most of you people are saying the story sux and are giving it ratings under 7/10. Sure, sometimes the story has its wtf moments, but it's not that bad by any means, and it's pretty easy to understand if you use your head. I think the fights, nudity, artwork, and the story together make an amazing piece of work, which has a unique taste. This manga has awesome artwork and a well-developed story and fight scenes to keep your attention. If you convert every frame of the manga into a high budget OVA (including all the nudity lol), it'd own like the Hellsing OVA; Tenge TV series is a failure imo. Think outside the box people...

Some people are only reading it for fights, and fights are not good if you don't have a story to back it up. You can't have a good story without the full history. If you guys didn't like the story, you were only reading it for the boobs then. I read it b/c I liked the characters and was really taken aback by the dramatic conflicts they went through. Tenge is supposed to be about fate, love, martial arts, and war. It's not a dumb history lesson like you guys think it is.

The manga is being released really slow, so if you think this is worse than other shounen manga out there that are released weekly, you obviously don't get what constitutes a good story. This is my opinion after reading all the way to chapter 111, and to give credit to my opinon... I guess I'll say I've read all the Naruto, Bleach, Death Note, Claymore, and Beserk chapters out thus far, and I've seen a a lot of anime. http://myanimelist.net/animelist/superzombie23 so I know what a good anime/manga story is.

Oh Great should just stick to drawing, cause while is art is the best in the business his writing is the worst.
