Description
Beings from a different dimension have started a war with mankind. To counter this threat, an academy called "Genetics" that trains female warriors called "Pandora," who can wield special weaponry and armor, was formed. Kazuya Aoi decided to enroll in this school because of a promise with his sister, an outstanding alumna who died in battle. There he meets second year Satellizer el Bridget, nicknamed "The Untouchable Queen" due to her solitary demeanor but also top of her class whose battle simulation streak is undefeated, until he came and slowly changed her.

Kim Dal Young's Freezing is pretty much a blatant ripoff of Sekirei and Gun parade March, much like Unblanace x Unbalance is a ripoff of please teacher. However he goes as far to insert incest and shoujo level story telling with bland moronic characters, who are pretty much unlikeable. Only fanboy's with sexually backwards values like Young's would say the opposite .The only reason Elizabeth was tortured by the chevalier is because of the authors fetishes and Chiffon was killed off because of his inability to handle a character that powerful in a low tier universe.(ie. vs can be solo'ed by character's that are bullet timer and has a ranged small building damaging attack can solo, even the Nova) Teresa in Claymore lasted much longer. The useless pieces of crap humans beings Holly and Louis are still alive like some crappy Shonen series after the eleventh nova clash. Anybody who isn't a talentless hack would have killed them off already.

Character development is non existent and inconsistent, Kazuya and Satellizer though having potential are pathetic by the end of the siblings arc and Lana becomes a third wheel by the time the E-Pandora arc rolls around. All three become background characters and are just useless. Also the fusion reactor is just another long line of ass pulls due to Young's poor writing skills for science fiction. Seriously twenty years of the suns power? Gotta call bullshit on that. Even in the current arc the tiro is still out of focus, with the way it shifts characters, gives sexual abusers and torturers sympathetic back stories like novels for teenage girls. I won't be surprised if it's canceled soon, if Comic Valkyrie has any standards for its manga.

In conclusion just a waste of time and only exists to be mocked. Young's writing is poor, formulamatic and relies to much on his personal fetish to be a good Senein Manga. Pretty much pure garbage unless you think sexually backwards Shoujo is actually readable. It just goes to show if you spam enough manga series you eventually can get one made into an anime. In short it's like a yoai series but make the characters straight, give the females large breasts and add aliens.

Alright, I've been reading every review and everyone single one says they dislike this manga. I guess this is a prime example of the haters being much more vocal than the lovers.

I know, I read the description, and it says that the Pandora's (women) and Limiters (men) are supposed to fight against this xenophobic race the humans have dubbed "the Nova". Sounds awesome right? Well, it is, in a way. You don't really see a whole lot of humans vs Nova action. Just a little bit here and there.

But I compare this to that of Orson Scott Card's Ender Quartet. In the Ender series, humans are under threat of beings called "buggers" and humanity is gearing up for a third war with them. But its not about the buggers all that much. In fact, its much more about the "soldiers" (cream of the crop children) that are training to defeat them. It deals about how they (just Ender, but don't want to ruin it for the few that haven't read this great book yet bigrazz ) overcome their various obstacles and how they interact with the other children. As with the Ender Quartet, Freezing is all about character development and about the people who actually have to fight for humanity.

I've seen people complain about school life. So what? Life doesn't stop. Humans adapt.

Then there's the review up top. It says "why doesn't the all powerful guy just make Elizabeth and company "disappear"?
The reason why is because you wouldn't become pissed at him (emotinally attached) if it just showed him sitting in his office wondering if they're gone yet.

The "Satllelizer and Louis" arc left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth because it DID end unrealistically. But at least it accomplished its goal right?

Character development.

It's the basis of this story.

But there are some things I dislike.
So many big boobs. It almost seems like fanservice. Nearly comparable to that of Kampfer, but even they changed up boob sizes every now and then.

To me, it was just a tiny bit slow to start off, but otherwise great.

I was glued to my seat during the "Expendable Pandora's" arc. In fact I can't wait to see what's gonna happen.

8.5/10

(I'm too tired. I don't think I've said half the things I wanted to)

Typical IM Dal-Young Garbage

The description up top is actually wrong. This story is REALLY about the murderous actions of an uber-rich class of superpowered psychopaths and sociopaths.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Literally the first four VOLUMES are nothing more than the entire Pandora military force attempting to murder each other for petty reasons such as popularity ranking or refusing to be subservient to upper classmates. And yes, they DO attempt to kill each other with their superpowers. Armed with a giant blade the size of an ironing board? Thrust it into another girl's stomach! Satellizer, the girl mentioned in the description? Shes attacked by her brother for refusing to be his TORTURE AND SEX SLAVE and running away from home.

Im Dal Young has dissapointed me yet again. This series started of pretty mediocre before slowly getting interesting. However it very quickly loses steam and by the time Bridgette's half brother appeared I couldn't stand it for a myriad of reasons. The only constant good thing going on for this manhwa is the art, other than that it's pure shit.

Started decent, slowly getting worse

It started ok. I liked some of the art and character designs. I do think some of the girls are starting to look too much alike. I really liked Satellizer as a Kuudere character. She could be a bit frosty and haughty, but it is in part a mask to hide her more shy and delicate feelings which makes her more sympathetic.

Some readers complained about all the catfights in the beginning. This didn't bother me so much. First, Satellizer has a bad reputation. Her classmates and teachers see her as a violent delinquent. A reputation that she does little to fix. In part because she has bad social skills and doesn't interact well, but also her "I won't give up/I'll just do it on my own personality" doesn't mesh well in a military unit/team environment. The upperclassmen see her not following orders and being a lone wolf which is detrimental to military unit cohesion. In military academies a certain amount of respect is expected from underclassmen to their seniors as a way to enforce the chain of command. Respect for one's seniors or sempai's whether in the military or outside of it is also important in many cultures. Satellizer won't bow her head or show active respect to her seniors. So she is a problem, one which her seniors try to remedy by punishing her. This is something that also happens time to time in military organizations where fellow soldiers try to get the person causing problems to "shape up" for the good of the unit. In this case it gets nastier, because the senior's pride gets put on the line since Satellizer wont back down and beats everyone to a pulp. Part of the solution was Satellizer opening up and trusting a bit and the seniors backing down. All of this was ok with me.

What I don't care for is that most of the limiters including Kazuya seem to be wimps. Its like the limiters had their gonads cut off and given to the Pandoras. It would be ok if 1 or 2 were like this, but not all. What a bunch of emasculated men and the Limiters never seem to improve only the Pandoras. Why even bother having them if they do almost nothing? The brother arc is where things started to go south really bad. Her brother is sick, abusive and has a stalker personality. All of that just doesn't go away. He needs more than professional help, he needs to be locked away. Really what was her sister thinking setting this up? No what was the writer thinking? The arc ended way too unrealistically. Abusers don't just have an aha! moment and just stop abusing. Anyone who thinks this or excuses this with "oh, sibling and familial love will overcome abuse" has no clue about sexual abuse or domestic violence.

The latest arc is just told sloppily. Really, if the Chevalier
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
are so powerful, arrogant and cruel why do they need to torture Elizabeth or destroy her father's company? They have no problem killing people as experimental test subjects, then it shouldn't be a big deal having Elizabeth and her father have an "accident".
Its just a clunky set up for what's to follow, and its a lazy way of trying to instill outrage in the characters and viewers. Satellizer and her limiter who started as the main characters are hardly in this arc at all. It's ok if they want to develop some of the other characters, its just not being done well and it should at least include one of the main characters a bit more.

So it started off with some potential. Im Dal-Young's stuff always has a few good ideas, but the stories always end up getting screwy, dumb down or just run out of steam. Its getting frustrating to read any of his stuff. The series started as an 8 or 9 for me, but has dropped because of these two last arcs to about a 7 and that's being kind. I wonder if it can be salvaged. If it continues this down this way or miraculously gets better I'll update my score.

BTW: The anime is pretty disappointing as well. The girls all look nice, some of the action is decent, its got some cool music, but its turned mostly into a fan-service show. Some fan-service is ok, but if it gets in the way of the action and the story then that's not ok imho. Some will undoubtedly love it for all the fan service, and some won't. You have been warned.
<-----------Update---------->
Its been dragging a lot and I would like to see this get some direction instead of introducing more and more characters with bigger and bigger boobs. I'll be putting this on hold for a couple of months and if I don't see some improvement then I'll be permanently dropping this. Oh, and yea dropping my overall score to a 5 now as we haven't gotten any substantial explanation on what makes Kazuya "special" and how this will figure into the story and in all the volumes I've read we haven't gotten much more info on the Nova nor has there been much movement in the romance. The relationship is still in the same awkward phase that it was in the first chapters! I guess the author is aiming for Bleach or Dragonball length levels here. Well I'm not going to stick around for another 5 years to see this finally get some place.

This series starts out with a decently interesting plot with mildly interesting characters and then proceeds to deteriorate into something hardly worth reading. The original hero and heroine are lucky if they make a 1 panel cameo in the current arc and I have completely lost interest.

This Dal-Young guy has too many ongoing series

But all his works have great potential, and then that guy just have to screwed them up

and Freezing.... Freezing is the best failure he ever created

We got here an amazing premise of a world threatened by monstrous beings called Nova that can easily make a mincemeat out of people

The first and the last line of defense humans have against them are Pandoras, enhanced humans (females) employed by an organization called Genetics, accompanied by their male sidekick. For some reason these pandoras are young people on the age of highschooler, so Dal-Young said let them live in a boarding school. Oh yeah, and the fight against Novas begins...

is what supposed to happen, but most of the time the story is just about Pandoras acting like Tokyo gal and fight against each other for whatever trivial reasons, and we are being fed with that skill this skill, pandoras beat the crap out of themselves, clothes torn up, got naked, blablablabla. Protag beat strong pandora, stronger one comes out, repeat XX times.

Now u wonder why mankind is in the brink of extinction, that is because they leave the fate of mankind in the cleavages of these emo-bitchez. They are busy being highschooler when they supposed to guard the world

Stay away from this junk, read Maian or Re:Birth instead

Getting worse.

Freezing started somewhat decent. I used to like the female lead Satellizer because she was the type of character to beat anyone who will get in her way. Just like her title, the 'Untouchable Queen'.

The first arc was rushed and despite that there is a threat called Nova, the author dedicated 5 volumes to 'cat-fights'. Almost every Pandora was against Satellizer and they were trying to bully her cause of her bad reputation. Not to mention that Kazuya Aoi was doing NOTHING, even if he showed an interest in Satellizer. And the school-- What kind of system is this? Letting one of the students getting bullied so much and even if the supervisors witness it, they do not punish the bullies? Then for only 1 volume, the author is making the Nova to appear while wasting the others to meaningless fights.

The second arc,
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
went more 'private' by introducing us Satellizer's twisted brother who had a complex with her. In this arc, Satellizer becomes very weak and she becomes the toy of her brother without resistance. Where the old good badass Satellizer went? The second arc totally ruined her image and Kazuya tried to save her... a little. Saying random melodramatic words like it's some sort of a shoujo manga.

And the third arc,
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
has taken more of a Claymore/Neon Genesis Evangelion direction with a new project of Pandora and various conspiracies. Kazuya and Satellizer barely appear and whenever they appear Satellizer is an all-happy girl who does not mind to be touched by other girls. Now the author has introduced more and more characters and he focus on a new girl called Amelia who is somewhat like Miria but without her excellent leadership skills. Somewhat better compared to the second arc but still very flawless.

In the end it feels like the Nova isn't that much of a threat but rather the other Pandora and the headquarters.

The characters are poorly developed besides Satellizer. Most of the Pandora are just there for a fight and later they disappear. And don't make me start about Kazuya, he is just pathetic.
Some of the characters look alike too. There are like 3 girls who look like Satellizer, other 3 who look like Ganessa, etc. And it's funny how girls of this kind are able to protect the mankind. The author is just selling his heroines for fanservice, unlike the author of Claymore.

its a decent story but the character designs suck, sometimes im not sure who is who since a lot of the characters look exactly the same and they appear in the same page so its hard to follow and you keep having to do double takes and then just guess who the character is.
