Description
The story is of Kitano Seiichirou, a very kind and pure-hearted young man, with a horrifying, monstrous face. People being what they are, they think he's a terrifying delinquent, and there are plenty of chance misunderstandings (coupled with Kitano's convenient inability to understand what's happening around him) that propel him into the position of "school guardian", a.k.a. head thug on campus.

Really funny, and the art improves

The art can put you off at the beginning, but it's so funny, to the point that I didn't mind it anymore after a few chapters, and I tend to avoid manga with bad art. However, it improves greatly as the manga goes on, until it becomes fairly decent, while the quality of the stories and of the laughs don't drop at all. The main character is really likeable and funny, not annoying at all, and the other characters are simply hilarious. One of the best comedy manga I've read, I gave it only 7 because of the art. Highly recommended.

The mangaka could have developed more on his 'athletic' abilities but then that probably would have taken it a different route. But i love kitano as he is...i almost wish there was more but the ending was quite comfortable and wasn't rushed like some can be. When i realized it was ending i got a little sad. I would like more *pout*

First off, Kitano is so adorable. The poor guy. xD

It's really funny, with the bulk of the humor coming from Kitano being misunderstood. It can get repetitive but I thought the series pulled it off really well. It's a gag manga so if you want a story, this probably isn't for you.

This is one of the funniest series i have ever read. I was pretty young, I think i read most of it back in 05'-ish than finished it off in 08/09. Sometimes i'm hesitant to recommend stuff i read over 7 years ago now, but in this case there's no such hesitation.

It's amazing that the same guy created Claymore o.0

I actually first heard about this manga through its OVA. After I read what the synopsis was about, I decided to give it a read. Let me tell you, I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE STORY. It was really sweet and heart-warming. If there are people reading through the comments, I seriously recommend you read this manga. You won't regret it.

Awesome Manga!

Truly awesome manga. Even with it being literal laugh out loud hilarious they are still able to carry a good message that you shouldn't judge someone based on their looks. and they could have gotten real dark and sad with it but they kept it light and it was a good read all the way through. its def recommended. the art is a little hard to swallow at 1st if you dont know the author but like most mangas it clears up real well afterward and you get great art of the characters you've come to love and the scenery around them.

This is really one of the greatest series I've ever read. There's a great balance of comedy and action and all of the characters are really lovable and hilarious. I was apprehensive at first, because of the art, but a few pages in you're so amused that the art doesn't even matter (the art also gradually improves). The ending was also very refreshing!

Funny, but also more than meets the eye

Angel Densetsu is an episodic comedy shounen manga.
It features various very different characters, whose interaction makes up for a funny but also strangely honest and refreshingly different manga, that manages to life without eye catching stuff like "fan service" or gore (I don't generally dislike these though, Franken Fran is a masterpiece almost only consisting of these).

The art is unusual at first, and becomming more generic later. I'm not sure if I prefer the later volumes with the typical eye pleasing manga looks, or the beginings with the unusual, but well done art, that perfectly fits the premise.
Anyway, since both art and story developed in the same pace and into the same direction, neither of the art styles seems to be out of place, rather than underlining the change of understanding, that the people surrounding the male lead have of him.

Also I have to mention that this manga, in fact, adresses some serious problems of society. it focuses on violence and prejudice, but there are some othe points as well, all of them depicted in a funny, yet not silly and strangely realistic way.
In this regards it is surprisingly deep, without getting too serious, or "Anvilicious".

I would say that it's a true masterpiece, being able to reach a relatively wide audience without turning generig or mainstream. You won't find many comics (or other types of stories) capable of doing so, which is the reason I can recommend anyone, not just shounen manga fans, to take a look at it, and see if it piques his/her interest.

Yeah, the plot surely is repetitive, but this one is a gag manga. WhoTF cares about plot development, as long as it makes you laugh so hard your stomach hurts? It does very well what it's meant to.
Gotta give it 10 to increase the overall ranking.
