Nothing to write home about.

Pretty darn average, same hole filled formula to propel the story forward you see in most manga.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
The main character despite wanting to stay under the radar befriends everyone, even an old friend who he ended up hating because she made his life miserable, he just forgives her like nothing.

With the powers it makes it interesting to read and the main character is a very insightful person but otherwise the relationship side of the manga is boring as hell.

bad manga, bad manga!

High rating and positive reviews tricked me into reading 1 volume. And I feel, well, tricked. Art is poor, story is made of mountain of deus ex machinas. Best girls run after inferior MC (well I guess it is an imrpovement - making him a normal guy without superpowers instead of standard pathetic loser) and his every silly idea somehow works (here goes MC's "stay in the shadow" life philosophy). Characters are plain and washed out. I know I can't demand an originality from every manga I read but if you going to use cliches use them in an interesting way at least. Reading this feels like they made it to feel empty pages in the magazine.

I think this manga don't suit to be a seinen. The story and style is more like shounen. But seinen or shounen, it's doesn't matter. This manga has inspired me a lot.. and, i personally think this manga is really cool. So 10 isn't to much.

A promising start

The series seems to kick off fairly well, although with only 7 chapters scanlated as of the time this comment is being typed, perhaps its a bit too hasty to be making any judgments. For a seinen series, it certainly is light and idealistic. Hopefully it doesn't run out of steam halfway - series which have "episodic problems" like these tend to get dull midway through. Still, I'm rather hopeful that future chapters will deliver, and so I stand by my current rating, for the time being.

Protagonist isn't wimpy or lame!

YAY! A protagonist that isn't wimpy or lame. He has brains. He has cute girls around him (Some even like him). The artwork is very good and clean and the growth of the characters is very natural. I only started to read this out of desperation while a couple of my other favorites were stalled so I didn't have high hopes for this. But to my surprise, I like this better than the others I'm reading! Hurray for the author: "Pro Shiki" and hurray for the artist: "HOTARU Takana"

Very Real Feeling Fantasy School Life Manga

I also feel this one has much promise but I do feel like this should not go as far as some manga like the Big three(Naruto, One Piece, Bleach). But also think that the Author will have to start working over time a bit too keep it from being redundant. The story is well done so far, and the whole Iris is a nice plot twist that gives each and every character you meet a little extra to them that helps drive the plot. The Iris ability is not very exaggerated or massive, but more subtle and gives everyone a different perspective when the author shares details of each of the characters so far. I also see much promise in the main hero since he does not have a Iris or he is an Iris Zero, but he still sees the world in a way that almost acts like its own special Iris that others do not see because they have a world they see different from everyone else because of their own Iris. It does help that the main hero is very smart and observant of his surroundings but still wants to keep a low profile since he is discriminated against.
I love the romance aspect. You put in the popular, innocent, pure, almost ideal female heroine that almost any guy wants, and you make her fall for the smart cool guy who does not want to be noticed. The conflict practically just appears. I am rooting for the heroine to take him finally even though them being together would mean he loses his low profile.

Overall the rating is lower, but I am expecting the author to expand and impress me with possibilities that I would not expect this story to have.

A very good potential

At least up until now (cap.7) this series is showing some very good potential. Even though the basic premise isn't that original (well, almost nothing is completely original these days, with so many works already done) the execution is very good and competent. An example of quality: the biggest positive point I see in this manga is something most of the other series out there lack: a smart protagonist.

Looking foward to more chapters.

Really good!

The description of this series may sound pretty generic (school setting, supernatural abilities, yadda yadda), but the implementation is what matters. The iris abilities themselves are interesting because though they're clearly supernatural powers they are still subtle in nature. The author has constructed a very interesting setting and explores how the emergence of these abilities affects society.

The main character (Toru) is very well done. At first glance he may seem like a stereotypical weak protagonist since he has no iris ability and is bullied for it, but he's actually quite clever and practical-minded. Sure he's no superpowered shounen hero but he's also far from a complete coward. The setting is presented with enough realism that you can't help but feel that his approach to dealing with his problems makes sense. He's the kind of protagonist you can really identify with rather than just shake your head at.

Koyuki does seem to suffer a bit from overly-naive-female-lead syndrome, though at least it's a mild case. Still, she is a genuinely good person in a world filled with prejudice. I suppose one character like that is fine.

cute but serious

Wow, this manga has a lot of potential to be great. Despite of its cute and simple art, which I like, its story contains serious stuff. There is an inter human interaction philosophy behind each of the iris ability. Even though I don't know what is the meaning of word "philosophy" ,LOL. I really hope this manga will turn into an anime someday.
