This is one of the most funniest school manga I have read.It ranks along with Azumangadaioh. The art is nice and the characters' personalities are perfect.Read it.You love it.I also recommend watching the anime which is equally good. It's also a dark manga which adds to its unique story. Higuchi Tachibana has created a masterpiece for the school life genre.

To make it short, I totally agree with Childofsecrets, I used to really love this manga but it just didn't feel right for the second and last arc. It's too dark and depressing
I'm not a fan of lovey-doovey innocent or typical cliche shoujo manga. I even am a fan of dark kind of stories. However, this story is just too depressing. The strength of this manga, as can be found in many manga of Tachibana's sensei, is that the plot is fun to read, funny, and the main character's bright and never-give-up personality that can get through any hardship. But at around the last arc, the stories became too dark, so much different from the plot half way before. It contains hardship, troubles, sadness, and many more (too much) dark feeling. So the manga lost its original charm. This doesn't even count the fact that all characters are just elementary school kids! ( I mean, come on, even in realistic, kids don't have so many dark n depressing things in their life)

Regardless of all said, I still recommend new readers to give this manga a try
It's character, plot, and setting overall is still good to read. It just is not my top fav manga like it used to be at the beginning as when I read

I think there was one mistake made. In the manga Natsume turns 11 before Mikan but
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
in a later volume where they go back in time, It is shown that Mikan was born first anf is so that would make her 10 months and 26 days older than Natsume. Also when Yuka gives birth to Mikan, Isn't Kaoru already pregnant with Natsume which means that he was late? This mistake can be fixed if they said Kaoru was pregnant with Aoi and not Natsume at the time but the stone that Yuka gave to Kaoru to help with the pregnancy was given to Natsume. Can some clear this up for me?
Added on: I went over the trivia of the gakuen alice wiki and it turns out january 1st isn't Mikans real birthday and her real birthday is unkown but its somewhere around May, so she is 6 months older then Natsume and shes a year older than she thought she was xD

I started reading this then I was so attached to it I stayed up till morning just reading it.
You have to read this, it's got everything a shoujo manga needs. The characters are different yet cute and the plot is interesting.

Gakuen is like Naruto, something u grow into reading, the plot is amazing, (i'm searching and searching for something like this, unfortunately can't find any like it) its one of those manga where your captured, everything about this manga will haunt you during school, and all you wanna do is go home and READ! i found that its very exciting, just something you'll enjoy no matter what age u are. So check it out.........NOW! smile
i mean....its being twice that i have watched the anime, (and still fall for the jokes), the manga i have been flipping through chapters, to find my favorite parts, <3 Natsume ^^
Enjoy it, i know u will

okay i'm updating my review.
At first i loved this manga to pieces. I loved all the unique characters and the world that the mangaka created. Then at some point it started to get noticeably more dark toned and the humor vanished. I thought okay, its just story development. Yay! But then it seemed like the author was just trying to pack so many ideas in and then everything went downhill. The plot got messy, and extremely confusing. Also, the art very noticably declined. Trying to emphasize the seriousness and emotion of the characters does not mean making every character cry in each panel for 10 chapters straight.. Basically, she tried to hard to make it tragic. She should have stuck to the old Gakuen Alice which I deeply miss sad
And just another note-- i think its cute how its childhood love, but the things they do are too mature for their age therefore making it a bit unrealistic..They act like they are in at least middle school.

I first saw this as an anime and I loved it so much. I couldn't have enough so I decided to read the manga. However, scanlations are hard to come by so for now, I stopped. It's really really long now but I will get back at it once it's finished and the scanlations too.

So far, bypassing their ages, it is a very very good read. Who would've thought that something so cute at first would turn out to be so dark, so heavy. I totally commend the mangaka.

The author is really intresting. She incorprating several styles for this manga. Like having arcs, little magic, horrible suffering, and drama.

Though one may say they think of the past too much but the fact of the matter is the whole plot and situation relies on the past! The main plot is stop the evil and corruption that the school has. It was firmly pointed out in the very beginning. Well that is the plot in my opinion, this manga is a tricky one, that what makes it so addicting. You never know what is next

It seems like there were at least 5 bad things for every good thing, the main characters were screwed the whole time, and the icing on the cake is that they were little kids. I added the Tragedy tag because for some stupid reason it wasnt there before I read it, and trust me, it shouldve been. It was great but this was like Titanic but it was the ship sinking scene put in loop. Wish i never touched it, its like the most tragic of all Tragedys. Only thing i got to say, you lookin for something thats gonna make you have tissues by you everytime you try to read it and you feel like challengin this post, please be my guest and leave your feedback please😊😉

So this one had a great start with great ideas and a fun plot that just takes you along and makes you laugh. However, for me who read it while it was still ongoing, it was incredibly hard to keep track of all the characters and their abilities and relationships to other characters...Overall that just made me steadily lose interest in the plot. Another point is that I found the ending and the ending arc overly dramatic and quite a drag to read, I liked Gakuen Alice for it's touching moments, funny moments and the interaction between characters which were all beautifully executed at the start. Unfortunately, near the end everything was just plain frustrating to read and the ending felt almost axed with all the things leading up to it and then bam it's over and time skip and the end... I suppose if you want to read this, be prepared to fall in love with it at first sight and then be eternally disappointed at how it ends bigrazz
