Description
The Demon Neuro has a raging hunger for 'mysteries.' Being dissatisfied with his current regime in hell, he’s come into the mortal realm in order to satiate his ever-growing appetite. The murder case of a young girl’s father seems to be sufficiently enticing for the Demon’s needs.. But what else might happen between these two? Find out in this disturbingly good murder-mystery series.

Note: The original pilot one-shot is only included in the bunko version. Volume 23 contains Rikon Choutei (Divorce Conciliation) (離婚調停).

Slight decline, but still decent

My rating lowered because the entire Sicks arc has devolved the series into a Battle Manga at the moment. Also, there is usually very little evidence shown before Neuro's unveilings, though the manga-ka was getting better at that. Neuro and Yako's relationship is hilarious, as well as Neuro's psychotically huge ego. Better than most manga in Jump at the moment though.

Creepily good

I'm not sure about most other people, but I found this manga to be very good. Yes, I started out with the anime as well, and I found it hilarious, though the first few episodes are kind of boring.

The manga kicked in, and once I started to read about Kaitou "X" and HAL, it was completely amazing. It's like suspense added in with out-of-this-world weirdness.

Amazing.

Art

@ Ichi1, I believe the mangaka a lot of time deliberately makes the art ugly to add to the horror and suspenseful atmosphere. It gets more complicated in the latter volumes. I guess the anime has "prettier" the art a bit, makes it less horror like.

Anime is better

IMO, the anime version is way better than the manga.
Just for the fact that the art is totally ugly in the manga and they made it bearable in the anime.
The detective part is not really entertaining, the culprits are quickly find and they are immediatly eaten after showing their ugly side. There is a lack of suspense and elaborate tricks like we can find with Conan, tantei gakuen Q, etc...
The only funny thing is the way neuro treats yako.

it's addicting even thought it's not that great..
the art is unique, the mangaka really has a twisted mind =_=!.. but it's fun to watch all thouse strang drowings..
tossing the detective part aside (since it's not really that good, and there is no idea, plus the reasons always stuped)
the manga is nice to read.. i like neuro and his way of tolrating yako all the time, trying to kill her bigrazz (and he is cute somehow)
i guss the mangaka is getting better in the latest Volumes..

Art killed it for me

over all i thought the plot had an interesting idea and the mysteries could be pretty cool but the art is soooo bad at times it makes it hard for me to continue reading it. like, the art is pretty good for some of the creepy scenes where neuro goes to his demon form, but for the manga style comedy pics, the art looks like an amateur drew it....

Im gonna push through though in hopes of the art improving, or that i can get hooked by the plot enough to continue reading without anymore hitches.

Dumb and shallow

Wow I can't believe all the 10s there. Chars are not particularly good, Neuro is an imbecile and bully, Yako is not really a believable character, too calm, doesn't mind being pushed and bullied, accepts Nero's inhumanity from the get go, seams to care sh*t about her fathers death, gets the chance to get rid of Neuro and doesn't take it, gets into certainly lethal situations because... she wants to avoid a posible lethal reaction form Neuro? huh? that makes sense? and so on, Godai? meh and Akane is basically a comedy relief char. Story is bad, what's the fun in a mystery plot where the mysteries are solved by unexplainable demon tools? huh? really it just takes all the "use logic, find the puzzle and out-think the perpetrator" out of the hole thing, he just "smells" the cases and uses one of his apparently infinite tools to solve it... it all feels simply shallow; not to mention the mysteries themselves are quite dumb, hardly a "mystery" since most of the times and over and over again people just confess to the crime after a "plausible" explanation that Neuro gives... It's so childish that the author had to invent humans with super powers to make it a little more interesting... huh?. Last, the comedy, mainly Neuro beating the crap of our female MC over and over, not my thing at all.
Oh, forgot the art-style, it's quite poor and villains are portrayed in ridiculous ways with exaggerated expressions and faces and the drawing quality itself is not very good.
I'm 60 something chapters in and I've pretty much given up, I was waiting for it to get go, for the chars to develop and get interesting given all the great reviews but 60+ chapters should have been plenty to get started and still nothing, many great mangas manage to present an interesting and complex story in 60ch, not even close here. Dropped for now.
