Surprised...

well...this is actually a refreshing read (no spoilers)
There are actually +1800 chapters (ongoing) of this wn and the translation goes pretty fast, 2-3 chp a day.

The first part it's the usual "from weak to strong" and the plot is foreseeable for the most part, but when you go further you can see a change, the plot becomes more deep and the actions of the mc become more reasonable. The construction of the secondary characters is well made as well. In general, you can see that the behavior of people is based on the proudness and the strictness typical of the oriental culture in particular and that's actually a major point of the story.
It's a bit crude yes, but not too much and there's always a meaning in the action of the mc AND SECOND CHARACTERS. The actions of the secondary characters make sense and have deeper meaning when needed.

In particular I liked the "deception" ark..wow..that was awesome, the author managed to spell that part so good that I was astonished, really...from a historic viewpoint I must say that it was really well made and the exciting thing is that there are no loop holes in the characters behavior.

So..to sum it up: the story naturally (and not strained) grow deeper the more you read, there are a lot of cliffhangers and the mc is a selfish bastr*d badass with a head capable of thinking lol.

The thing that makes this wn unique it's the feeling that you will have after the 136 chp because most of the stories of same genre that I've read so far, after a while they become boring and all the same, but this....ohohoh this...is different!! yeah, there are parts a bit boring and the behaviors of the characters make no sense in some parts but it's good nonetheless.

It's a really well made historic fantasy wn that will pump you up for good.

Epic badass Mc

I can only describe this story as epic, its the first time i read something that have a non pussy mc at the beggining, he was weak yeah but when he got the strenght he only hide it for a short time and the BOOOM BABY!

And for IT0 statement, the Mc does become kinda arrogant but NOT IN THE SCUMBAG WAY, let me tell the people who read your quote that the reason Chufeng said that is because they disrespected him first even when they were older than him, the guy just went to full retard mode and attempted to punch Chufeng(Mc) reason being: his little brother got owned. So logic dictates that the big brother must take revenge in the little brother place? Lame... anyways our Mc never disrespect anyone unless he is being wronged first so its not so bad so far

So its a great read so give it a try people

Good so far, but in danger in the future.. Look out of EDITS..

I really enjoy reading this one (as of ch 94). There are a few things that are going out of control, though. Mainly the MC, Chufeng's arrogance. In the beginning he wasn't all too arrogant, more than anyone else, however, as he gets stronger, he more and more arrogant. He basically starts to look down on pretty much everyone.

He's getting closer and closer to a point where he needs to find someone that can match him, while being just as young. If that person doesn't come, and nothing else happens that will give him some humility, this work will turn completely unbearable in 50-100 chapters, depending on the pace. As it is now, I'll still give it a solid 10, but with a great risk of dropping later.

EDIT: As of chapter 133-134, something happened that ticked me off enough to make the rating drop to the current 6 and making me put this one on hold. I just read what happened, and I'm so fucking pissed off that I want to find the author in person and bash his head into the closest brick wall a couple of hundred times!

Way better than expected!

Man, this is a breath of fresh air compared to all the shitty web & light novels I've been reading through the past two months. Basically 98% of them range from being awful to mediocre. Having a MC that come of as an arrogant, bad ass, cold blooded killer, that let nothing stand in his way while protecting his ambition, his friends and loved ones, is great. Not to mention a huge relief compared to a lot of Japanese light/web novels that I've had the misfortune to pick up while searching for a few grains of gold in that endless sea of shit! Most of those novels instead have worthless, one dimensional perverted losers as male leads, who gets a harem thrown his way without even lifting a finger (other than being somewhat nice to the females), while relying on deus ex mechanics to help them along the way.

This one however is not, and it doesn't even have the frustrating habit which most wuxia novels have, where the MC suddenly jumps up in level, with little or no explanation how or why while the background story is messy and likewise lacks proper explanation.

While I have only read the translated chapters in English, I disagree with IT0! The language is not bad at all and personally I prefer strong, cocky, arrogant MC's compared to weak, spineless losers. I do agree with the naming of the characters though, a common trait which a lot wuxia novels seems to share unfortunately. The names are just too similar and makes it hard to keep track on whose who. Coiling Dragon for example, solves this by westernizing the names, which makes for a way more enjoyable read. Keeping track of Chu 1 through 10, or Xian/Xiang 1-200 is extremely frustrating, I wish more web novels (or the translators) would take this approach.

That said, it's a highly entertaining read so far and I cant wait to see what happens later on. Sure, it might turn out to be repetitive and boring in the long run, but writing this review after (update) reading 115 chapters, I don't see any sign of that yet, and I sincerely hope it stays this way. I really cant get enough of this, the only flaw is the fact that I anxiously have to wait for new chapters. I'm literately checking the site daily! And keeping me hooked on the story like this, is indeed a good rating for a novel/manga/film/series.

Has some potential but...

This story has some potential but has some shortcomings that make it obnoxious at times.

The Good: Great fights, a strong central character, fantastic growth potential.
Chufeng (the central character) is very much an underdog, cares for his sister and mostly a good guy.
The world created by this author is fun and full of cool martial arts. However, the scale of things seems overly grandiose, and improbable. The 100,000 or so disciples of the Green Dragon School that all seem to have their own house and mill around the school with little to no direction or supervision as they self-train seems like a plot hole the author just did not fill yet…but this does create a good backdrop for the main story.

The Bad:
Chufeng becomes more and more arrogant as the story evolves. At this point I am hoping he gets humbled a bit, it is getting hard to take how cocky he is becoming. I am not talking Naruto level of cute cocky; I am saying it’s the creepy kind. There is a way to be strong and make impressions without mouthing off, but Chefeng has not figured it out yet. He seems to completely rely on strength and lacks class. I can actually see him becoming a villain later with his attitude, as he kills people for not showing respect.

Here is a cringe worthy quote:

“It seems that your supporter in the inner court is only so-so.
Also, not only do I dare to attack you brother. I will even dare to attack you. You better not let me meet you again or else you’ll have to face the consequences.
What, you have nothing to say?
That’s right. You better quiet down for me or else I’m afraid that the next time we meet, I might accidentally hit you to death. Haha…” - Chefeng

The names are a pain too. Chufeng belongs to the Chu family and all the names start with Chu. This makes the story a bit hard to read fast and follow, I had to make this cheat sheet to just to keep up.

Chufeng (main protagonist)
Chuheng (brother?)
Chuyue (his sister)
Chuxue
Chuwei
Chuyuan (father)
Chuxun
Chuzhen
Chuguyu (elder brother)
Chuxue
Chu Hongfei (Cousin)
Chu Nanshan (Uncle)
Chu Yuanba (Grandfather)

Overall it is a fun read, and for now I am going to follow it, but I am not sure how much more arrogance I can take before I drop it.

Update, I not going to drop it, the fights just get better and better. Me might be an arrogant SOB, but I love how he kicks butt.
