FUNNY AS HELL. To be honest I don't laugh at every chapter, but I haven't met one chapter yet that didn't keep me at least amused. I also really admire gintama for being an almost completely humour based manga, but be able still end the day with some symbolic meaning.

On another note, I really enjoy Sorachi's character's. I love the main trio and all of the Shinsengumi, they're all really fun and likeable characters, haha.

Great Storyline? Check. Humor? Check. No limitations? Check. Not one stupid character? Check. Comedy? Check. Favorite manga worthy? Check. Rereadable thousands of times over? Check. Fame worthy? Check. Awesome fights? Check.

Gintama is really... the best.. you won't be able to find anything that can top this.

This manga is like HILARIOUS to the EXTREME.
Before I read/watched this I didn't even think it was possible to laugh this much, it always manadges to amaze me at how much of a genius the man who created this is.
This is the without a doubt the best anime and manga ever!
Surpasses Bleach, Naruto, and Ouran - by a LANDSLIDE.
If you don't start this your missing out like crazy.

When I saw Gintama on any sites like youtube or crunchyroll, Technically This anime has a catastrophe of laughter and action all in one. The Sublime Satire made by Hideaki Sorachi combining the Historical Settings, Science Fiction, Action and Out-of-this-world comedy with a punch of Parodies and TONS of Stupidities here.

Aside from the looks of the Settings, There is no serious storyline out there. It is Made in Pure Comedy, That is COMEDY rich in gags and all of it were pure exaggerations that made this comedy a haphazardly funny.

The Characters were based on the real people who are involved in Japanese History, well said that these characters are cloud-nine wacky and downright insane.

Also some of the habit of one of the characters with a bazooka-totting Shinsengumi First Captain has the sense of being a deadpan.

Remember the Science Fiction and Japanese Combined, The plot is all about the three guys were doing whatever they want to pay up their rents to save the world. Luckily, Aliens came up to their trouble and Shinsengumi, Joi Faction and Kiheitai came in.

Also some songs from the pop idol Tsuu Terakado gives me an insulting gag about what she said.

What can I say about Gintama?

Gintama is not just a silver soul for nothing, It is a UBER-PLATINUM Grade of Comedy under Shounen category with unadulterated Humor and Guiltless Comedy and Pure Shonen JUMP-like Gags that you will never see it before as well there were TONS of Cosplays in Anime.

End note: Love this anime, Laugh this comedy and make a beautiful sunshine of it ala Gintama Style!

i CAN'T stop laughing when i read gintama
the characters are all so unique n funny
i dun really kno how to explain this but the setting gives the author alot of freedom to basically do whatever he wants - that's why the humor is just UNBELIEVABLE
the fighting scenes are either VERY cool or VERY funny haha.
and the art is quite nice too (and improves as the story goes on)
if you have time i recommend u to watch the anime as well; masterpiece + colour + sound (50+ episodes subbed)

Much of the humor in Gintama comes from spoofing other anime and other elements of modern Japanese culture. Think of the Scary Movie franchise - best enjoyed when you know the original material they're making fun of. Gintama's brand of brash comedy isn't for everyone, so it's hard to guarantee you'll be laughing out loud in every chapter - but that's this series's effect on me.

Other than that, the art is nice, and while there's no stable plot, the characters are very interesting. Moreover, the setting and premise of the entire series is so unbelievable, there's enough material for some seriously good story arcs.

i like gintama, it's hilarious. It really is one of a kind that really makes you laugh your butt off. I have laugh so much over Gintama that my stomach hurts.
Yeah, gintama is not the type of manga that really have a specific plot or storyline. It's aimed at comedy, at that's what you'll get.
Sometimes i find it annoying cause there is no plot to the story but i can't help but come back to it. It's just too funny.
(and wow! 22 volumes! That's a lot! Whoa! I wonder when it will end?)

Wow I didn't think that I could laugh so much about a manga but it's hilarious. The characters are nothing special but fit perfectly together and the "plot" only provides the setting for the ingenious conversations and nothing more. If you don't like the first chapters, don't bother reading it any further it doesn't change, but I love it.

This is the type of manga where, either you like it or you don't.
And I'm placing this on my list of Godly manga. (Which only has this on it.)
But that's just me.

I started watching the anime at first before going onto the manga. IT IS HILARIOUS!!!! I think it's one of its kind. While I love this series, I have to say it is not your typical shonen action series like Bleach or Naruto. The humour is pretty satirical and I think for those who are not into anime or manga or not well acquainted with the EDO or SHINSEHGUMI period, you might not find it funny at all due to the context of the spoofs and inside jokes. It is a 'love it' or 'hate it' series.
